Randy Moss vs Santana Moss (1 Viewer)

Both players have underachieved (if you take S.Moss's one great game out of the picture) this season.

I think Randy Moss is by far the better player. Plus, Santana Moss just doesn't get a ton of targets. On the other hand the Oakland offense may be the worst in the NFL.

Will these guys turn it around. Or, should I try and trade them?

Doing that takes away what Santana Moss is. He's not a consistent WR, fantasy-wise. Last year, 54% of his production came in 25% of his games and 65% of his production came in 37.5% of his games. He had some huge games at the beginning of last year that had everyone super high on him. Then he had a stretch of 8 games where he didn't break 100 yards and only scored 1 TD. That's who he is. Santana is not underperforming. By season's end, I think he'll be right where most thought he'd be.

Very impressive analysis... just out of curiosity, where'd you come up with those stats? or did you calculate them yourself?

I just calculated them myself using these data. Also, being a Skins fan, I just know that's who Santana is and that's how this team is. Santana is arguably the best WR in the league when he has the ball in his hands. That's why they use him a lot on screens. He breaks some every now and then, giving him BIG games. Some games, he doesn't break them for 50-yard TDs and ends up with like 5 catches for 55 yards. But, ultimately, Gibbs and Saunders want to pound the ball. Their gameplan every week is to run 40 times and pass 20. While Moss is explosive and talented, he's the second option on this offense behind Portis.

I have Randy in two leagues and I would feel embarrassed offering him to the Santana owner in either league. To me it's not even close anymore. OTOH - if Randy felt like playing it would be much closer but try to figure out when that might be. :wall:

Randy is 10 x more talented.

How's all that talent working out for Randy right now?
2 td's in last two weeks. What has S.Moss done if you take away his one big game?

Why would we take away his one big game? If we do, though, he's still got more catches & yds than Randy. Plus Randy doesn't have a big game to take away.I'm not saying Randy isn't hugely talented, but the guy just doesn't have the head for the game IMO, especially now. If only the guy had Jerry Rice's dedication, he'd break every record in the book.

I would agree with the original poster. I have never been a big fan of Santana Moss. It seems he just goes away for weeks at a time. If Moss gets traded he could be the #1 wr in the NFL.
