Rashad Jennings-Dynasty Thoughts (1 Viewer)

Hey all,

Took a flyer on Rashad Jennings in my Dynasty League this year. Initially it was due to MJD's hold out. I am curious what others thought of his game beyond this season? I admittedly am not an expert on his college and pro career. I have heard he has a good chance to be starting full time next year for either the Jags or someone else. Can he be good enough to be at least a low end RB1 or high end RB2 beyond this season? Or is the hype coming out of Jacksonville closer to propaganda to sell the team minus MJD?

Jennings looks like he could be a solid fantasy RB if given the chance, but for dynasty purposes it is important to realize that not only does MJD still have two years on his contract but also that Jennings is already 27 years old. He might be 29 before he gets a real shot as the starter.

Pretty sure Jennings is an unrestricted free agent next year.

Jennings strikes me as a RB that gets the most out of his mediocre talent with effort, much like Fred Jackson.

I would sell high if he starts fast in Jax this year as I think his career will be very shortlived, at least his starting RB career.

He is, but there is a decent chance the Jags try and lock him up during the season. They have plenty of cap room, the MJD holdout obviously raises the value of Jennings and I doubt Jennings is anxious to test the free agent RB market at 28. It makes a lot of sense for him to extend with the Jags. The Jags actually have a few players that they might lockup during the season, which is one reason why some people think they have carried over so much cap room.

He reminds me of a slightly more talented Ernest Graham.

He'll shine for a bit, but I don't think he has staying power. As a man and a person, there are none better. Read about him to feel better about humanity.

I hope I am wrong, I hope he blows up ala Arian Foster, and pounds the AFC south for years.

Yea, he is a really interesting and good person.

I had Jennings on my dynasty team at the start of the 2011 season, when the Jags put him on IR last year I dropped him from my dynasty team. When week #16 came around, I picked him back up for the 2012 season expecting that the Jaguars RB situation would be very similar to when they had Fred Taylor as the lead back with Taylor being spelled by MJD. With MJD holding out, I think Jennings is a Top 15-20 RB this season, if MJD comes back then I think Jennings becomes an RB3. Jennings dynasty value would be higher if he were a couple of years younger or the lead back on another team.

It's all going to come down to the offer. Unless they pay him as a starter, he has every reason in the world to test the free agent market at 28- it's his first and last chance at a big contract.
