This thread reinforces the stereotype that I'm Canadians cousin.

I was thinking I would move to Florida and then become like everyone else that lives there, and start threads or take a picture of a thermometer to post on Facebook when the north is having a cold spell.  Then I'd get really sensitive when I was getting plowed by a hurricane if people didn't feel super sorry for me.  Because I'm in Florida, that's what we do down here!!!

Hot brings out the bikinis. I'm shocked it's close. 

Even in December in Miami Beach.  Its been a warm December in Miami.

Nothing against hot weather, but I can live without it. I need cold weather in my life at least part of the year.

And to expand on this a bit: by the end of the Chicago summer, the insects and plant overgrowth and weeds are bad enough that I'm ready for the frost to come along and put the yard to sleep for a few months. In the OP's scenario of effectively 2-month winter, the desire would be even stronger after a 10-month summer.
