Vegas (1 Viewer)

. I ended up with a burger. I don't feel like we got a good value for over $400 for five of us

Lunch was at Hell's Kitchen. Food is great but you are paying for the experience. Close to a grand but well worth it.

This outing cost close to $500 and not fun at all.
Yeah, I think my dream of visiting Vegas someday is over
Oh Vegas is really affordable if you want it to be. My sister and her husband stay at Binions at least 3x a year. Fremont Street is supposedly a lot of fun. Food and drinks are affordable and the vibe is a lot of fun so they tell me.

In real life, I coupon and constantly look for value, but when we go on vacation, we save for it and I want to splurge and not think about money.

There is a ton to do in Vegas without breaking the bank

Anybody been to Cosmopolitan sportsbook? We have a group of 10 going in September. A friend has a hookup for a couch but the place looks small-ish. Looks like more of a lounge than a sportsbook. Anyone been there and liked it?

It is small and it is loungeish, so it doesn't have that big raucous sportsbook feel. But if you have a fee couch hookup? Yes please.

Random question.
Any good places to shoot some pool? Perhaps somewhere near The MGM Grand or close to that?
I'm not really looking to play for money or anything, but playing for beers or something is always fun.

They have a table at the Cosmo sportsbook.

The Cosmo hookup did not come through. Now guys are saying it's going to be TAP sports bar at MGM. Ever been there? Looks like a B-dubs with worse food. Accurate?

Went to Vegas a few weeks ago. The prices on the strip are insane. We stopped at the pretzel place in MGM after we checked since we hadn't eaten that day and couldn't wait 6 hours for dinner. It was 38 dollars for two pretzels and lemonade.

The comps on the strip are awful as well, the whole four days we were there we earned less than 20 dollars at MGM properties. We went and gambled one night for four hours at the Gold Coast and earned over 100 dollars for dinner.

Sounds like the food pricing has gotten a lot worse over the past couple years. Shame.

I've eaten there before but it's been a few years ago. It's your standard sports bar. I think they had a decent beer selection and food was fine. Nothing special but serviceable.

I don't remember the pricing being so bad there when I went in late 2019. Different world and all, but I thought they gave us too much food. We couldn't eat anything the rest of the day.

Tell us more please, which property did you stay at? Was there a resort fee tacked on to a decent price for the hotel room?
I always har about these food courts or food halls that have several spots to eat, does that not make it more competitive and keep the prices somewhat reasonable?

Just so you don't feel too bad, I went to a diner around town, I know they are a little pricey to start but I just wanted a biscuit breakfast sammich, it's 7am and Mrs has forbidden me to go to McDonald's and I'd hate to disappoint her. The bacon, egg and cheese on a frozen biscuit(no way it was made from scratch) $12 but wait, I added extra bacon which was $6 they banged me for as a side of bacon, with tax and yes tip even though it was a to go order, almost $25...the scrambled eggs and bacon were overflowing, I'm selling this a bit short but still not worth that kind of money

We stayed at MGM Grand. We had free rooms and they took half off our resort fees, gave us 50 dollars in slot play and 75 dollar food/drink voucher. So our total stay was 75 dollars to check in Friday and check out Monday. This is the first year we had resort fees not completely waived.

So here is our trip. We left August 8th from Flint Michigan. We have a little airport there and if you pay attention you can get very cheap flights. I believe our flights were 160ish round trip.

Landed in Vegas around 3:30, got an Uber and went to check in. We were both hungry since we hadn't eaten since about 9 am. We stopped at the pretzel place on the way to check in and it was 38 dollars. Checked in and met our friends at New York across the street and Uber to Gold Coast. The have a Chinese restaurant there called Ping Pang Pong, it used to be the best Chinese food ever, now it is just above average. We played Pai Gow for about 5 hours. We won about 800 dollars and earned enough comps to pay for the food. Highly recommend the Gold Coast, we alway seem to do well there and it is like going to a dive bar.

Next day we go to the Netflix themed restaurant in MGM. Very overpriced for average food. I wouldn't go back, went to the pool for a few hours and the drinks were crazy to. Nine drinks between three of us was over 170 dollars. Good thing we used our food and beverage comps today. Went to Freemont Street, lost 400 at the Plaza, won 400 at El Cortez. Played a new version of blackjack, double down madness. That game scares me. We wandered Freemon street for a couple hours until we got hungry. Ended up eating at Vic and Anthony's. Very good, but we were also highly intoxicated so....

Sunday was the spa day, we went to Resorts world. That place is so nice. We lost 300 gambling after the spa. The spa is amazing but very pricey. It was about 600 dollars for the two of us to get massages and use the facilities for the day. Met up with out friends later and took an Uber to South Point. This is a fabulous casino about 15 minutes from the strip. Decent prices, tons of games and slots. We ate at the Mexican place there and our bill was about 60 bucks for appetizer, two drinks and two meals.

Last day we didn't fly out until 4 pm so we checked our bags at the front desk and went to eat next door. They have a food court and my husband loves Dirtdog. The prices aren't too crazy at this food court, but it isn't connected to any casino. We lost a little money back at MGM and New York.

We go every August as a long weekend get away with a group of friends before school starts for the kids. We also go every third year for the national bowling tournament. I recommend staying at the nicer casinos or the ones that give you the best deal, but if you don't want to spend or lose all your money then gamble and eat off the strip.

Sounds like you guys managed to do a lot in a few days. Double down madness is crazy from what I’ve seen. You basically get dealt one card—the dealer gets two cards—with one showing—and you can either choose to just hit—or double down on the second card. You can hit again or double again from that point on. I just don’t like how it’s a push if the dealer busts at a 22 I also don’t like how if the dealer gets a blackjack—you don’t even have a chance to tie as you only have one card while they have two. The crazy thing is that the “math” for that game makes it so that you should double anytime you have a 10 on your first card regardless of what the dealer has. Apparently, because you know for a fact that the dealer doesn’t have a blackjack at that point—and you still have a chance to get a blackjack—-the optimal play is to double (in hopes of getting the 3 to.2 pay). Some double down madness tables even have it so that you get paid 2 to 1 on suited blackjacks. I’ve only played it once—and while I thought it was fun—I think I like just a nice standard 3 to 2 blackjack game better.
