Rather sleep on a cot size bed or sleeper sofa? (1 Viewer)

Would you rather sleep on a cot size bed with a real mattress or a larger fold out sofa bed?

I have a 2br/2ba condo with a small den.  I do short term rentals in the place and use the den as an extra sleeping room and tv room for kids.  The den is too small to be converted to a real bedroom.  I've been using fold out sofas for the space but am considering switching to two day beds as the sofa bed folded out leaves no room for other furniture or to move around.  The day beds would have a cot size mattress which is 30" x 74".  Compare to twin size at 38" x 74" and fold out sofa bed of 60" x 80".

Current sofa folds out to 60" x 80" bed.  It's an american leather comfort sleeper which has no bars or springs so it's the cadillac of sofa pullouts.  You still have to remove six sofa cushions, put them somewhere, then pull out and make the bed to sleep in it.  I can fit two cot size day beds in the space which eliminates having to deal with a pullout sofa and should work really well for 2 children.

My question is as an adult if you had to sleep for a few days(a week max) in a bed with a cot sized (30" x 74") real mattress would that be preferable/equivalent to sleeping on a larger pull out sofa(60" x 80"?)

If you were renting with your family would you rather have two cot size day beds in the den for the kids or one fold out sofa?

Edit to add that sofa isn't long enough to sleep on in comfort.  Significantly less length and width compared to cot size.

No kids here for an opinion on renting as a family, but about two years ago I slept in my old twin bed while at my parents house and slept like a baby. I think I could survive the smaller width of a cot just fine. Those pull out couches kill my back.

Could you do a murphy bed?

All the space savings of a sleeper couch with the comfort of a real bed.

I'd choose the couch not folded out. I'm not sure why, but I've always loved sleeping on couches. I've always chosen them over guest rooms when crashing at friends houses.

Though, it might be a factor that couches are generally located closer to the fridge/beer and TV.

I'd agree, but I'd take a real couch over an unfolded sleeper. From my experience those aren't very comfortable with the different support underneath.

Go sideways on a sleeper sofa.  Instead of putting your head where the backrest is on the couch -- and your body crossing several support bars -- turn 90° and put your head where the armrests are and sleep between the support bars.
