Ravens secondary becoming a sieve again? (1 Viewer)

This is starting to look a lot like last year, when a great Ravens D all of a sudden becomes defenseless in the passing game due to injuries. McAllister out, Rolle nicked, others banged up. To me, this is similar to when the likes of Big Ben threw 5 TD's against them in a half. Browns should throw 40+ times (why run Jamal against Ray and Co?). Should be interesting.

I agree that the Ravens secondary is banged up and that it makes sense to attack that weakness but I also think that their is another good reason to go with a more aggressive passing attack today. Also it makes sense to try and keep the carries for Jamal Lewis limited so he doesn't get banged up and is fresh to play the Broncos in four days on Thursday Night.

... In the last game against the Ravens Browns RB Jamal Lewis was held to 56 yards, since that game Lewis has averaged almost 80 yards (79 yards) per game. I couldn't be happier with the increase in Jamal's work load and production since I have been a big proponent of rushing Jamal Lewis more. If this were a normal work week then I would continue to suggest that we give the Ravens a heavy dose of Lewis but I have to suggest to offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski that he try to be more aggressive in the passing game this week. I would love to see him mix in some no-huddle or take a few shots deep down the field early in the game to try and gain an early lead. Joe Flacco is a rookie who stands little chance of keeping pace with Derek Anderson if you can somehow manage to turn the game into a shoot out but the real reason I would like Chud to be more aggressive throwing the ball is because Browns have to turn right around and play on Thursday against the Broncos. The Broncos have the worst run defenses in the league so we to prevent Jamal from wearing down or taking unnecessary shots from the Ravens.

Chud is simply going to have to think four days into the future and understand that we need a healthy and well rested Jamal Lewis to run the ball at least twenty times against Denver. Rob Chudzinski is simply going to have to do a parallel game plan this week where he knows that he needs Lewis at full-strength against a weary Broncos defense that is going to also be on a short work week and who is going to have to travel to get to Cleveland.
