Rays win again. This team is for real this year. To bad the residents of the Tampa/St. Pete area will only get to enjoy them this year and maybe next year. I don't want to put a downer on this success but I can't blame the owners if they move to Charlotte or elsewhere after the 09 season. Maybe even Orlando they drew double what the Trop drew in the series they played in Orlando. We protested the new stadium (it didn't make sense) and they pulled it off the table. That is a clear sign they are moving the team. The locals here brought it upon themselves (including myself). You can't sustain a club only averaging 15K fans unless the Red Sox or Yankees come into town then you put 34K in the house. Fenway, Yankee Stadium, Shea, Wrigley they are standing room only even when there club is playing horribly. Secondly I will agree with the majority of complaints the stadium is not condusive to people who live on the Tampa side of the bay. If you live in Brandon, North Tampa, Carrollwood it is taking you over an hour to get to a game possibly 90 minutes depending on rush hour. I feel a stadium near the Hard Rock or by Ray Jay would be more condusive to fans but who am I to say. I can only get to games on Saturdays or Sundays because I would have to leave my job in Downtown Tampa at 4:00 at a minimum and make the commute to New Tampa pick up my family for the game and then make the commute back through downtown Tampa and be lucky to get in the Stadium and seated by 1st pitch. That is almost 3 hours of travel time to just get to the game.
