RB Antonio Gibson, NE (1 Viewer)

Looks like those pre-season hopes of Gibson being CMC-lite are coming to fruition. He now has CMC's coach and CMC's quarterback.

How so? Allen got benched late in the season at Carolina last year. He was that bad. I dont see much change in the rushing numbers but in PPR it should be a boast as Allen checks down a lot
Bc Haskins was that bad. One of the worst instinctive Qbs I've seen since maybe Jemarcus Russell.

While I doubt the coaches see Allen as the long term solution for them at QB they did bring him to the team, he knows their offense and can likely execute it better than Haskins or they wouldn't be making this change.

While Allen wasn't great he was able to take advantage of CMC and so perhaps will set Gibson up for more success than Haskins does.

I wonder if the move has a negative effect on McClaurin, but I doubt it. McClaurin is still good.  I think its a positive for Gibson for sure though.

And we have a BINGO.

You can have all the physical tools in the world. Unfortunately you don't have all day to make a decision and throw.

Unfortunately for Dwayne, the staff and front office that had so much vested interest in him is gone. He'll never have that same level of commitment from another staff. This new staff gave him a month trial. Odds of him even getting that again are slim.

Actually I don't know if the staff really wanted him to begin with.  I seem to recall reading that Gruden didn't want him.  I'm sure others know more about that than I do though.

They didn't, from what I heard. I do not have a link so consider it reading the tea leaves. Gruden was trying to save his job and wanted a veteran starter, which is partly the reason they went with Keenum for a while. When that proved untenable, Gruden threw Haskins in at halftime of the Giants game without warning or prep. Quite the place to put a rookie QB if you're got a vested interest in him.

Thanks for posting!

This is by far the best he has played.  Really starting to see that speed now.  Not sure he has the long speed that the best have,  but it's plenty.  That first run as he turns the corner is a good example.
Yea, I think he might've been able to take that second one to the house if he angled towards the pylon more.   Pretty sure we see a 50+ yarder out of him eventually this year.   Just needs more snaps in the 4th vs gassed/uninterested D's.

Agreed.  Haskins was a Snyder pick, IIRTRC

Gibson has always been a no-brainer as far as a prospect. Don't overthink it. Monkey see banana, monkey eat banana.

That said, don't assume there won't be some disappointing weeks. He's not in the best situation & COVID undoubtedly affected his timeline.

Gibson is a long play (& a helluva one, at that). Try not to use rocket science figuring out what to do with him (KISS).

I think his floor has been raised from week 1 to now such that he should be a solid low end RB2 on the average day.  And a blowup outing is undoubtedly coming.

Agreed. Each week his touches increase and the highlights look a little more like a young player that is starting to think less and play faster. With the injury bug hitting hard across the league (esp. at RB), one would have to have a pretty deep roster to not consider starting Gibson as an RB2/Flex every week.

Still starting in the one league I have him. Once CMC is back I will have to decide on Gibson vs a WR in flex.

Antonio Gibson flew to South Dakota this week to lock horns with actual rams. Immediately following, the Fish and Wildlife Service has announced them as endangered species.

Exact same thoughts here. RB2 at worst for ROS (for non-ppr, but even better if you're ppr) and I'm sensing a bright horizon soon to the land of RB1 or somewhere in between RB1-2. Last wk was his nice blowup kick through the door, especially against BAL's D. And if he does it again this wk against the Rams, oh boy... His trade value's gonna skyrocket. I'm putting him in this wk over Gordon and McKinnon. Excited about their QB change, and I'm thinking it'll truly help ascend him to be the "CMC lite" they've talked of.

Leaning hard on putting him in over Mixon this week.  Just from a gamescript perspective doesn’t feel like a Mixon week and I need wins I’m 1-3.

LA with the early start 10am their time.  Goff doesn’t travel well.  I’d love to see DC give them a run for their money and either way I need the W.

I sat Mixon last week and lost my match up.   Tough to sit a guy after last weeks performance.

After the Rams this week his schedule is:

NYG

Dallas

Bye

NYG

Detroit

Cinci

Dallas

Expect he'll be borderline top ten RB over that stretch with potential for top 5.

After that he has tough games against Pitt and SF before closing out the fantasy playoffs with Seattle in week 15 and Car in week 16.

Feels like finishing as a top 20 RB is well within reach and a top 10 finish is possible

As always, just my opinion.

Is everyone forgetting that CMC is more talented than Gibson? I like the opportunity but Allen in CAR was targeting a much more talented RB than he is in Washington.

This is what I'm doing,  I've gotten in trouble to many times chasing last weeks points.

We also see that Mike Davis is RB7 in PPR over the last 2 weeks.  The talent gap between CMC and Davis is probably even greater than the gap between CMC and Gibson.  If Gibson gets CMC's opportunities, he'll be a top 10 back.  However, his usage is just not high enough yet.  McKissic has been on the field more than him in 3 of the 4 games.

If you could flip him for a top 4 2021 rookie pick in Superflex leagues are you pulling the trigger on that?

Yep.

2021 QB class looking to be very good. I heard some one mention 1983 good which is of course hyperbolic but its looking to have several good QB prospects as well as some good WRs.

Still mulling over Gibson over Jonathan Taylor in my ppr league. IMO Gibson has a higher ceiling
I think Gibson is the start. Kyle getting his first start is going to check down a lot IMO...he did that with CMC and I'm sure he'll do it with Gibson

Don't have the balls to let Thomas ride on Tuesday, so torn between Gibson, McKinnon, or Drake…

Leaning Gibson
