Yeah. It should still allow them to be on IR.I don’t know if others are in the same boat as me but I can only put a player on IR who is actually on the a NFL IR. If he gets put on this list then I will likely cut bait since I don’t want him clogging up a roster spot for at least four weeks when waiver pick ups start happening after week one games. If he went to IR it would be an easy hold for me.For what it’s worth. And this is second hand news from someone who listened to a local beat Writer podcast from a guy who’s usually pretty close to the team. So I don’t have a link, but can dig up the podcasters name when I have a break at work.
The Podcast is called Locked On Commanders and is hosted by Chris Russell.
The Redskins plan to put him NFI. I think they have till Wednesday to make a decision.
Non-Football Injury (NFI) List
The NFL has a second injury list that is similar to the PUP list, but is based on different timing of injuries. The Non-Football Injury list has rules that closely adhere to those in the Active/PUP and Reserve/PUP, but it is classified differently.
That’s weird - Yahoo let’s NFI be our in the IR spot (Jameson)
It’s just a different designation because the injury happened outside of football.
It allows teams to not pay a player. No way they do that here in this scenario.
