RB Charles gets Peyton Manning autograph (1 Viewer)

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles apparently was so impressed with Peyton Manning's performance against his team that he asked for the quarterback's autograph after the game.

In its postgame report, KCTV aired video of Charles waiting for Manning as he departed the stadium to get his autograph. Manning rallied the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos to their eighth win of the season as the last-place Chiefs dropped their eighth straight game.

"My mom wanted this autograph," he told the television station.

Receiver Dwayne Bowe, meanwhile, got his picture taken with Manning.

"It's Peyton Manning," he said. "Who wouldn't want a picture with him?"

Bowe, who is scheduled to be a free agent after the season and is playing this year under the Chiefs' franchise tag, was asked if he'd like to catch passes from the future Hall of Famer as well.

"That, too, but right now the best thing I have is a picture," he told KCTV.

Charles had 23 rushes for 107 yards in the Chiefs' 17-9 loss. Bowe caught four passes for 41 yards.

Former Chiefs player Rich Baldinger, who was in KCTV's studio after the segment aired, took offense to Kansas City's two biggest offensive stars' actions.

Baldinger, a former offensive lineman who played in 12 NFL seasons, said he never asked for an autograph during his playing career.

"I don't understand it at that moment. They were smiling and laughing after the loss like that today. I just think it just goes to show what this team's about. I don't know if winning's really that important," he said.

I dont see the problem with this

I like Baldy but he's overreacting. It's the way players are now. They exchange jerseys, shoes and other things in all professional sports. This is nothing.

As long as they are playing to win and giving 100% effort, who cares how they interract with the opposing team after the game?

If the organization in KC doesn't show any interest in being competitive, why should the players?

I don't blame these guys a bit. Baldinger played on teams which were able to actually compete against real NFL football teams so his opinion doesn't hold much weight.

nothing but confirmation bias

the chiefs are dreadful + i saw them smiling after the game so the reason they're dreadful is because they smile after games and don't care

or maybe because their coaches are incompetent, bumbling idiots and they dont have a quarterback

I'm sorry, but I'm with Baldy on this one. The classy organizational thing to do would have been to pull a Tonya Harding on his ### since the Chiefs play the Broncos in week 17.

I think it might be more effective if they pulled it on his knee, instead.

So a top player in the league has a lot of respect for one of the all-time greats, to the point of getting an autograph for his mother?

The horror.

Maybe he's upset because he didn't get too many autograph requests in his day.

Same thing happened with Tashard Choice in 2010, getting Vick's autograph for his nephew, and it seemed like the beginning of the end of his Cowboy career.

This.
Agreed. I always thought it was cool that these men could spend three hours trying to beat the crap out of each other, then after the game hug and chat, or even catch dinner or something. Shows younger kids that they can do their jobs, and still be friends off the field.

so jamaal charles career is all downhill from here?maybe choice's career submarined because he was a mediocre talent?na. it was the autograpgh

I used to like him but that pinky distracts me so much that all I hear is white noise when he speaks. You'd think a producer would tell him to tape it to his hand or something.

This is nothing. I just watched the special on Wilt's 100 point game vs the Knicks. Wilt lived in NY and guess who gave him a ride home after the game....Knick players. Leave the competition on the field. Hell, even Bird and Magic became friends.

I feel like an NFL pro bowler partying should have at least a few girls around. What kind of club was that?

The biggest fans on the planet... guys that have grown up and lived football the majority of their lives wanted an autograph/pic with quite possibly the greatest QB to ever play the game... and it's a story?
