RB Dalvin Cook, DAL (1 Viewer)

The Twitter DM or whatever it was with Cook essentially admitting to harming Trimble (along with a pic) is a huge problem.
Agreed. I'm trying very hard not to draw any firm conclusions yet (see: every post I've made in this thread since last night), but I gotta say I'm having a difficult time imagining a scenario where that's not as damning as it appears

Agree but that's how the insider information game is played.
This accurate but I feel like Schefter's not even trying to hide the fact that he's a mouthpiece for agents anymore.  Yesterday he tweeted basically a press release from Rosenhaus that Tre Boston is healthy.

According to a source in the NFL's league office, the matter involving Dalvin Cook will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy. The league said it will continue to monitor developments but there’s no change to his status because it is a civil complaint.

@CourtneyRCronin

Mike Zimmer said he hasn't heard anything regarding whether Dalvin Cook will play or not on Sunday against the Chargers in LA. He said that Cook will practice today.

Good points in this thread. Whatever the truth ends up being, Schefter allowed himself to be used by Cook's agent. He sent a cryptic tweet ("pending litigation"?) that raised more questions than it answered, seemed to assert Cook's victimhood as his own opinion, and provided no context on the accusations Trimble was making against Cook.

Schefter thinks his entire job is be used to spread rumors and headlines on behalf of agents and teams. It isn't really him being used as much as it is his reason for being.

Dalvin Cook (personal conduct policy) remains eligible to play in Week 10 against the Chargers.

Cook has been accused of physical and emotional abuse in a lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend. The NFL is reportedly reviewing the matter, but as of now, it does not appear that any action is imminent. While allegations could have a significant impact on Cook's long-term standing with the Vikings, it seems likely that Cook will start against the Chargers.

This sounds like a very toxic relationship. Dalvin certainly comes off looking like a victim here, as she is pulling his hair, refusing to leave, threatens to punch him again, and says she's going to go get her gun.

I don't think that DM is damning at all either. It doesn't state anything different from Cook's story.
It seems to be getting weirder. Something on Twitter now about stabbing her ex. https://twitter.com/bso/status/1458453651119386625?s=21

Dalvin Cook told reporters he has not been in contact with the NFL and will play in Week 10 against the Chargers.

Cook's long-term outlook remains highly questionable but all signs point to the league holding off on taking action in this matter until the situation becomes more clear. They are looking into the matter but have not released any further comments. Cook has been accused of physical and emotional abuse in a lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend. He, on the other hand, claims to be the victim of domestic abuse and extortion.

I think that tweet says she stabbed her ex husband.
You are correct. That is why I posted it is getting weirder. If true she seems like a bit of a psycho. But then I’m not sure how you avoid arrest and discharge from military if true. So it is getting weirder.

I would be shocked if he were suspended this week. As long as it's a he-said, she-said thing, and with no criminal charges filed, the NFL is not going to act hastily. In fact, I'd be surprised if anything happens before the end of the year.

Of course, if a Ray Rice/Kareem Hunt-style video emerges, all bets are off.

I agree with this, however, I don't believe the police were ever involved to this point.  Based on this information coming out, they might be starting a criminal investigation now, which may or may not lead to anything, but I'm not sure if we can completely rule out a criminal case yet.  Note I don't have any information or opinion on if there should be one or not, all I've done is skim this thread and other headlines and haven't done any additional research.

My current opinion is I don't think anything will come of this unless new information comes out that forces the team's or league's hand.

I'm not ruling anything out in terms of what may happen in the future. I just saw some people in this thread saying things like, "With that leaked text message, the NFL will have no choice but to suspend him." And that's just not how the league works. Unless it's giving them really bad PR, Goodell isn't going to get out in front of the legal system. (Also worth remembering the the Rice case is kind of the exception that proves the rule. He demonstrated pretty conclusively in his appeal that the league's second suspension was entirely PR-driven; theoretically, they have steps in place now to ensure some level of due process.)

That is a good overview. The headline suggests that it's pro-Cook, but the full summary is a pretty balanced account of what both sides are saying.

Interesting that they got back together after all this happened. I suppose that could be interpreted as supporting Cook's version, but of course it's also true that lots of abused women get back together with their abusers, so it's hardly dispositive.

It seems pretty pro-Cook to me. Add that to that video from earlier, and it sure seems like Cook's telling the truth, especially if he has 2 witnesses, as the article states, and she has a long history of violence as the stabbing of her ex husband suggests.

If I'm the NFL(or the Vikings) I'm probably just ignoring this. Obviously things can change and more could come out, but so far Cook seems like the victim here to me. He also seems lucky he wasn't shot or stabbed, by a clearly disturbed person.

If we are too believe that the statement of the events by Cooks rep is true..........how on earth do we not hear about this a year ago.  Everyone maced?  A hostage situation at gunpoint for hours??

This is exactly what I was thinking when I first read it. There is obviously more that is not out yet.

IMHO he wants and has wanted to get rid of her. She seems like a clinger that is trying to use her military powers. Why wait until you are in Italy. Why come back after those pictures. She obviously has some issues. I’d like see what her family says. I bet there would be better cameras that could show. He seemed pretty passive. She seems aggressive.

If I analyze video more. Looks like bra hanging from lower right post of bed. Also if you watch there is womanly trinket of “sunshine” above burrow. Looks like he was in her dwelling asking where his gun is. You can also see in distance another person, small with legs, walking away.

Furthermore her wounds would not be consistent with hitting her face on a table. Yes, her nose is. But the extra cut from her left side to lower is not a wound from a table. That was created by a knife. And no knife was entered as either deposition.

She most likely got hurt and they were both in love. She is and will always be upset. Military sends a recruiter to Italy because that made sense. Probably military is like what do you want me to do with her? Also, Dalvin is guilty due to keeping your #### in your pants.

Time to get my Blackbear decoder ring out
I think it is likely they both loved each other. I think it is likely he didn’t hurt her despite her breaking in unannounced. I think it is likely he wanted get his gun back at her place. I think it is likely military protects their own by stationing in Italy. I think it is likely this is toxic and need leave each other alone. I think it is likely Court would award her far less than 13 million, due to she seems a bit aggressive and wanting more than entitled and is willing to try put his life on hold. I think it is likely a forensic expert would look at her wounds and find them inconsistent with hitting your face on a coffee table. This all to me means, she’s gone overboard. She can get some settlement, but not a lot.

The problem is is our recruiter.

I would caution that assumptions are rather dangerous in situations like this.

In regards to who is passive or aggressive: one of the reasons the Blackhawks discounted Kyle Beach's claims of sexual assault was because he was a large, strong, capable athlete, so clearly he couldn't be assaulted by a video coach/non-athlete.

Claiming that someone "has issues" is also fraught with error. Numerous girls/women assaulted by Larry Nasser were told exactly that when bringing forward their claims.

As to being a "clinger" or "why come back," this is well-documented as occurring among people who are abused. Read about the case of the wife of the Ohio State WR coach.

Bringing the conversation back to fantasy football. If all this gets delayed to the offseason(or dropped altogether) I think there is a decent shot Dalvin Cook is a fantasy league winner. Other than the Rams in week 16, Cook's schedule is pretty awesome going forward.

10. LAC

11. GB

12. SF

13. Det

14. Pit

15. Chi

16. LAR

17. GB

Not many guys locked into 20+ weekly touches these days, and Cook has been the most unlucky RB in the NFL when it comes to TDs. He has only 2 TD's so far, but could easily have about 10 or so. Assuming he stays on the field, I'd expect the TDs to start coming in bunches.

As a Mattison-only owner, I admit this post made me drool a little. Please forgive me.

Just to stir the pot a bit more with speculation, I've heard some "experts" think if the Vikings lose tomorrow they might cut Cook outright to get away from this drama and his contract.  This would probably mean Zimmer and co. are toast as well but it would be Mattison time ROS and maybe next year too.  This is obviously an extreme take but ya never know. :)

I see Mattison rostered on only 60% of teams on yahoo.  That’s crazy.  Talk about a cheap option.
Had him...dropped him for other depth.  I can only keep so many backups on my roster.  He would have been my next drop once I have to activate Carson.

I think most are just pretty sure this isn't going to amount for much for Cook this season.
