RB Danny Woodhead to SD (1 Viewer)

Woodhead is a very solid role player...I'm surprised a team that's a little closer to winning a title didn't scoop him up...he'll never be a #1 but he's extremely reliable in the running, passing and blocking game and can also return kicks...the kid played his butt off in New England and I really hope he continues to have a productive career...very easy guy to root for...

If the Vereen owner in your dynasty league is looking to "cash-in" on the playoff game Vereen posted and this news that Woodhead left, I'd certainly be buying.

I think BB found himself a new toy with Vereen late last year... could be quite valuable, especially relative to his cost, in PPR leagues.

In our inaugural auction draft in a 32 team league, I got Vereen for $6.9 mil. Most other RBs went for $10 mil plus. So he's not that cheap. And may be more expensive now. With this new RBs can't lower their head crap, maybe BB will abandon the run altogether and SV will be gold (catching passes out of the backfield).

The Patriots backfield is going to be clear as mud. The Pats still have Ridley who got the bulk of last year's carries, Vereen looked good late last season, and the Pats just signed Leon Washington who will likely take over some of or most of Woodhead's third down duties.

Ryan Mathews owners can't be happy.
I am pretty sure they aren't happy most of the time anyway.
I think Mathews owners should be happy. Just a few weeks ago, we were hearing that Reggie Bush could sign with San Diego. That would be far worse. Mathews as a 2-down back (if that ends up being the case), is much better than a full-blown timeshare (or worse yet, losing his job entirely) and that situation could change in the future with effective performances. So far, no threat on the roster (yet) of someone taking his job entirely. Thats a good thing.

Mathews owner here. I'm happy about this. Woodhead is no threat to take significant touches away like ronnie+battle were last year. I'd rather this happen than see them draft a 3rd round rb or sign benson/bradshaw

Woodhead is a much better football player than Ronnie and Battle.

I'm actually really happy about this as a Matthews owner. I was really worried they would draft someone or bring in a big-time guy who could actually start over Matthews. Instead, they bring in Woodhead, who can spell him and keep drives alive.

Did the draft pass by and we all missed it?

That they were looking at Reggie Bush might indicate the Chargers have big plans for this role.

Woodhead blew up minicamps. Anyone who has seen a ton of Patriots games knows how underrated this guy is. He's incredibly fast, quick, and athletic.

I'm still pissed the Jets released him to keep Joe McKnight, just so they could try and save face after drafting McKnight in Round 4.
