Chase Edmonds has looked really good. It is possible they call DJ the nominal starter yet Edmonds gets most of the work. While I agree Edmonds has looked excellent, the fact is DJ hasn't decreased his workload. For the last 4 weeks, DJ has 17, 19, 20, and 18 touches, while Edmonds has 4, 6, 11, and 7. The only close snap count game was week 2, where DJ had 34 and Edmonds had 23.
he’s already been eating into DJs touches & receptions. Perhaps ARI is heating up and Edmonds is becoming fantasy relevant, but it's not at DJ's expense. From weeks 1-3 when DJ ruled the touches 49 to 8, DJ was RB8 (52.6 FP). From weeks 4-6 when the touches were closer at 57 to 24, DJ was RB5 (68.7 FP). Also, DJ's last 3 weeks have been very consistent for snaps (54, 51, 52).
its possible that DJ starts & doesn’t do much. It’s possible it’s a 50-50 split, and it’s also possible that Johnson starts, aggravates his ankle and leaves. You are just predicting injury here. Last week DJ was supposed to have a tight back, yet he put up his best fantasy game of the year. That was a helluva catch as he curled around the defender in the end zone. As for a 50/50 split, it hasn't been close in the first 6 games. I could however, see a scenario where they lean on Edmonds if they are whaling on the Giants.
if Edmonds needs a breather they go 5-wide. I haven't checked, but when was the last time a team started a game with only 1 active RB?
it’s also possible that the cards pick up a RB today or tomorrow, no? Kickoff is less than 27 hours away. Not impossible, but very unlikely to sign a guy and have him in uniform in New York ready to go. I live in Connecticut, and could get to the stadium in 2 hours if they need me.
I’m just sayin - DJs been banged up for 2 weeks with several injuries (back, ankle) - I wouldn’t breathe easy if I were a DJ owner just yet. Me either. I own DJ in the subscriber contest and could use a decent score, but I own Edmonds in my league (without DJ). Edmonds will remain on my bench if DJ is active, but will certainly start him if DJ sits. The matchup is too tasty, and Edmonds has impressed thus far.
