RB Devin Neal, NO (2 Viewers)

All I know is he ran right through Colorado all day, which isn't saying a ton, but he looked a little like MJD, though not as quick in his cuts. Has power, gets low and loves to keep grinding. His post-game interview, if one cares about that stuff, was quite impressive. You can be sure he'll work his *** off and give it his all. Kid gave his heart and soul to Kansas and the town, will be a favorite in any locker room. The kind you really root for...

I was hoping he’d be more under the radar. While not a perfect comp, he reminds me of a bigger Bucky Irving.

Kansas RB Devin Neal continues to impress on Day 3 of the #SeniorBowl

Kansas RB Devin Neal has had some strong moments in Mobile as this was one of them.

Breaks it outside and shows good lateral movement. Explosive athlete and only 4 fumbles in his career.

Big fan as well. I honestly think he's every bit the prospect either of the Ohio St guys are.

Wonder if he will run at the combine. Then we will know about raw athleticism.

I think I liked Judkins better. Not by a ton, but by a decent amount. I’d pick ‘em with Henderson, though I might give a little nod to Henderson because he looks dazzling in the open field. It’s between the tackles you worry about with Henderson, it would seem. (I really say that as a deduction from his injury history.)

If Ian Cunningham signs with Jags as their GM, I need the Bears to use that 3rd round compensatory pick on this dude. Or DJ Giddens. My two favorite RB prospects.

All this fantasy space love leads me to believe that the GMs are going to hate him and he'll be stuck like Sean Taylor is on the Buccaneers.

Tucker is a tough one because it was never crystal clear whether he fell because of the health concerns that popped up at the 11th hour or if it had something to do with his college tape, which showed some flaws. Then, to make matters worse, he blew up when he got an opportunity only to get relegated back to the bench.

I think Neal will be a different outcome on draft with some team committing a day 2 pick on him. But, if not, it's a nice reminder to those of us that do a lot of early prep to throw most of it out the window after we find out how the NFL values these players.

NFL Draft Files
Devin Neal has ELITE elusiveness 👀

He’s put up 34 TDs and 2452 rushing yards in the last two seasons while forcing 126 missed tackles.

He excels in a balanced Kansas rushing attack thanks to his vision. Also has good ball security (2 fumbles, 421 carries).

Day 2 talent.

Devin Neal and Quinshon Judkins are the two guys I seem to be different than consensus on so far with RBs. I'd have Neal in that first tier with Hampton, Henderson, and Johnson (whereas from what I see most generally have him a tier below). And I'd have Judkins down in that next tier, where it seems most people have him in that first one.

Edit: I keep basically ignoring Jeanty, obviously he's in the first tier all alone. Then the next I'd have Hampton, Neal, Henderson, Johnson. Then below that Judkins, Skattebo, Ollie, etc.

Kansas RB Devin Neal has the skillset to be an early down workhorse and could be relied upon on pass protection situations. #BuildingTheBoard

Positives
✅ Ideal NFL frame at 5'10 220 lbs
✅ Exceptional vision.
✅ Shows patience behind the LOS. Waits for the best path to open up.
✅ Natural feel for making defenders miss in tight spaces.
✅ Light on his feet to cut at a moment's notice. Especially for a big man.
✅ Willing pass protector.

Negatives
❌ Average to below average long speed. Explosiveness in general leaves you wanting more.
❌ Simplified receiving role in college. Not gonna give you much there.
❌ Potential in pass pro is there but it's far from perfect at the moment.
❌ Runs with more of a finesse style for a bigger back.

I was targetting this guy late 2nd in my rookie drafts, Even at this stage I dont see him dropping that far. Suspect hes going to be in the 1.10-2.04 range by the time rookie draft season hits us

Combine and draft capital will be really important. Right now, he's got a Day Two grade, which probably means that range or maybe as low as the 2.06 or 2.08. It'll really depend on who you're drafting with.

That whoosh sound you hear is the sound of Devin Neal's fantasy stock plummeting. Disappointing.
Didn’t Bucky Irving bomb the 40?
There are certainly examples of successful RBs who posted disappointing forty times. I wasn’t expecting a 4.4 time, but 4.60 was surprising. Neal plays faster than that. Hopefully, he improves that time at his Pro Day workout. I still have Neal on my draft board, of course, but he was pushing his way up rankings, and in a very deep class, this definitely hurts him.

Kansas RB Devin Neal’s ability to make defenders miss in the tightest of spaces is what makes him one of my favorite Day 3 prospects in this class.

Todd per @Footballguys scouting report said the same. He is a very intriguing RB to watch in this year's draft. This report is free to download as well and it is very informative

Sometimes underwear clocks get it wrong, for varied reasons. Other times the clocks tell us what's what. No idea which this might be, but seen it both ways.

4.53 short shuttle at his Big 12 pro day.

The more this guy tests, the worse it gets. Still love watching him slice and dice college teams on film but those holes and lanes close quickly in the NFL.

There are loads of names who ended up nowhere.

Damien Martinez was getting serious hype. Brashard Smith. Tahj Brooks.

Neal just taken by Saints, but 6th round is not getting anyone excited is it.
