RB J.K. Dobbins, DEN (1 Viewer)

Any remaining shares of Estime and McLuaghlin were already on the teetering edge of my bench. This like pushes them over the edge…

one year with Broncos worth up to $5.25m
One of the more confusing RB and WR rooms to figure out for FFers, Payton really must hate the hobby.

I'm not really sure it's confusing. Dobbins is the starter (until injured), then (hopefully) RJ Harvey will be up to speed. Jaleel will mix in a little. My hope, as Denver fan, is that Dobbins only misses games in the middle of the season and is at full speed for the playoffs.

The OL is one of the best in the NFL, yet the run game was not good. HC just kept mixing stuff up to see what would work. I have to imagine that's not what he prefers.

WRs
  • Sutton will continue to be consistent and reliable
  • Marvin Mims, in my opinion, is the actual JOKER for this offense, not RJ, not Engram. He sat in meetings with RBs and TEs last year to learn as much as possible. If he can manage to keep the entire playbook in his head for all 'skill' positions, not get confused, be consistent throughout, he's the guy to own in dynasty. But he might be closer to Taysom Hill in his Joker role (as far as FF points go) because it's such a complex position to play. He could be all over the field, but that's a hard job to manage.
  • Vele is like Sutton
  • Franklin still needs work
  • Pat Bryant is my favorite for top points in dynasty. He reminds me of Brandon Marshall.

RBs with 2nd round draft capital don't grow on trees. There's an outside chance I'll have to make the decision at the 1.5 in August. My hunch is that Harvey is still a decent bet, but I'd be lying if I didn't say Kaleb Johnson is back on my radar. Most likely, the pivot would go to a WR if Judkins isn't available.

Like the signing for the Broncos in real football.

Ps. Smart REAL football move for the Broncos. Dobbins was really good last year when healthy (and many of us enjoyed the FANTASY football value he provided as a late round RB).

my guess is that Dobbins took a one year deal to rehab his image. I hope he has a great year and is too expensive for Denver to keep and that RJ lives up to his potential in years 2-4.

To me this says as much about Estime being terrible as anything. I'm certainly a Harvey fan but he is just a rookie and they have to have another body in there. Before today Harvey had zero competition. They probably still could use another one TBH. McLaughlin has a role but that's all.

Mostly agree, though I think Troy Franklin has a shot to really exceed expectations as a deep threat that nobody else really is. That and I'm A LOT lower on Pat Bryant who I think is much closer to Tim Patrick (which is fine for a depth WR) than Brandon Marshall.

I'm just disappointed that I have a dynasty draft Saturday, where I have the 6th pick, and was really hoping Harvey would be gone before I pick.

1.6 was too early for Harvey imho anyway even before this news. Happily take one of Judkins, Henderson, KJohnson….and then grab Harvey in the 2nd round when he drops with this Dobbins news ;)

Some of our dynasty rosters aren’t deep enough to drop a player like Estime.

But I already have him lined up as my first drop for week 1 waiver moves.

I'm not saying that he is good, but I don't know how 81 touches is enough evidence to judge someone is "bad at football". I mean if you're averaging 2.7 ypa, that's a decent enough sample size. But not at 4.1 ypa.

I agree it was, but he was going there in some drafts.

I'm not really sure it's confusing. Dobbins is the starter
No way do I assume he takes over. The guy sat in the bargain bin for the entire spring. The coach who loves to run more than life itself didn't want to pay him more than 1.5 mill, and ran out and spent a high draft pick and a bunch of money on a free agent. The NFL does not think too much of Dobbins.

He might be coming for Jaleel McLaughlin's job, I could see that.

Seems confusing to me, especially on the receiver side. You have Sutton and then up to four guys Payton probably will rotate around (if Bryant is up to the task). Toss in new TE Engram and there are targets going everywhere. If healthy Dobbins will be the lead, but I don’t doubt throws Estime in the mix as well.

umm, ok. I broke down my opinion. If you'd like to disagree with anything, please do, but i don't see it as confusing.

Engram will be a top 10 TE
Sutton will be top 25 WR

I don't see anyone else having significant redraft value. I said Mims has the highest ceiling, but that's challenging. Bryant is my favorite dynasty play.

I suspect Badie establishes himself as the #3 RB by the end of the season. I think it's more likely that Estime is gone than getting much in the mix.

Feel free to correct me on any of my opinions, but I don't see it as confusing.

Not disagreeing with you, just seems there is more to it. JKD is obviously talented but has a bad injury history. He did miss 4 games last season which is both better than he has done, but still could be an issue.

This is an interesting article:
Najee Harris was Chargers' backup plan after J.K. Dobbins 'passed' on offer, per report

And now this:
According to just about every NFL insider, the Denver Broncos have signed veteran running back J.K. Dobbins to a one-year deal. NFL Network’s insider Tom Pelissero is reporting that it’s a one-year, $5.25 million dollar deal.

Najee Harris signed a 1 year $5,250,000 contract with the Los Angeles Chargers on March 10th, 2025. The contract runs through 2026 and has an average annual value of $5,250,000 and came with $3,750,000 at signing and $5,250,000 guaranteed.

I would guess either way Hampton may have been a target.

I am not well versed on Harvey. I do think JK could take the lead role, at least initially.

Just FYI, Najee’s contract was a lot better, almost twice as good with respect to guarantees and maximum.

My confusion is more real football versus FF. I agree, there are probably only two pass catchers worthy of a redraft pick (those you mentioned). The confusing part for me is how the rest of the targets will be distributed and who will be on the field (WRs 2-5). It doesn’t matter much in redraft I suppose, but I am curious (the confusing part to me) on how Payton will split up playing time between the RBs/WRs. I forgot about Badie, just adds another body to sort through on the depth chart.

exactly

What if I told you Audric Estime, two years from now, will be the same age RJ Harvey is right now?

Would I blow your mind? Did I just blow your mind?
Far out.
To add to that, from the rumblings I have heard, is Estime might not be on the broncos in two years. He has a lot of work to do this offseason to keep his job. Many players improve from year 1 to 2 but it sounds like Estime has work to do. If they liked what Estime did last year they wouldn't have signed Dobbins.

So by the time Estime is Harvey's current age, he'll have already completed his entire NFL career and gotten his first promotion as grocery bagger at Aldi.

Only two years for a promotion at Aldi? Seems a bit aggressive don't you think?

Guess I'm going to have even more Harvey shares than I thought. He was creeping into the 3rd round but now I bet he falls to at least the 6th or 7th.
Are you in a really tiny league or something? It seems like he was going late first. I could maybe see him fall to the early 2nd but 3rd round?

Obviously I wasn't in the room (or have even tried to look it up) but I think it's possible that JK wanted a long term deal worth more money and didn't get it and was hoping to get it elsewhere [in FA] so now he's stuck without a team so he has to take what he can get. Don't really think he supplants Harvey though there's a good chance that they do split. FTR, ourlads has Dobbins as the starter but ESPN still has Harvey.

Great OL and ascending offense.
Dobbins >>> Harvey

Big issue is JK hasn’t managed to stay healthy. I’m buying as much as I can again this season. Hoping for a Fred Taylor type change of luck.
