RB J.K. Dobbins, DEN (1 Viewer)

With the upcoming matchup against the Chargers, I'm probably sitting him in favor of Pollard. With Harvey looming if Dobbins falters, I'm wondering if I should sell him at this medium-level price. Some juicy matchups coming up, but there's also a good number of bad matchups. Hoping he proves me wrong and can consistently provide RB2 value, but so far the touchdown dependency and crowded offense has me expecting some gross 7-10 point efforts.

It is a tough matchup though its also a revenge game after the team brought in Najee to replace him then drafted Hampton. I'll be starting Dobbins everywhere I have him.

JK Dobbins missed 4 games last year with an MCL injury, which means after 4 games this year...we now have a 17-game sample of his production.

252 carries
1228 rushing yards
12 TD's
37 receptions
171 receiving yards (1399 Yards From Scrimmage)

...I mean, this is pretty solid production and his 17-game pace with the Broncos has him at 1450YFS/13TD pace.

Yet, I think pre-existing narratives (injury history/RJ Harvey) are still chipping away at perception. He still feels like the preferred option down by the GL. He looks great and that explosiveness he showcased early in his career seems back.

Am I missing something as to why folks aren't more excited about him?

I think his owners are happy and excited but most are just waiting for the injury or just wearing down?
I remember watching him end of last season and he didn't pass the eye test for me (I don't know what his numbers were) but maybe that was recovering from the mcl or the previous injuries-- he just looked like his legs were heavy

Led me to be pretty heavy on Harvey this year---> so far not a great move haha

Thoroughly enjoying the ride. My fear is that he gets injured, however. But I picked cmc at 1.2 and have Dobbins as my RB3/4 so let’s ride.

It's the shiny new toy syndrome

FF managers inherently have a recency bias against vets because their warts are visible. And so they get heavily discounted

Meanwhile, mint condition rookies fresh off amazing college tape are automatically assumed to take over any given backfield from Day One.

The DEN backfield was always headed toward a 50/50 split (with situational sprinkles of Badie/MacLaughlin) based on Payton's philosophy plus the evidence during training camp/preseason.

The DEN oline/blocking scheme is perfect for Dobbins. Every NFL RB should feel envious actually.
They create running lanes before Dobbins gets the handoff. I think the metric is called "yards before contact".
When I watched the game vs Cinn it was like watching porn for the first time.
I'm a Hou Texans fan btw LOL.
