I play in a SF league so I don't know what 3rd round capital means in most 1QB leagues. I think it is somewhere around RB10-12? Which seems high to me. I would have Monty ranked closer to this than Gibbs. I didn't draft them that way because...value I guess. But empirically that is where the reality always was IMO.
I think Gibbs' value begins closer to RB16-20 and always should have been. But banking on upside almost always rules the d
Sorry late reply.
In my leagues he was a going as RB9, an early third. Before the game it's fair to say I agreed with that consensus opinion and I actually him him in his own tier, after a tier fo two which included Jacobs/Henry. In most of my drafts I hoped for other players to fall to that early third but if not I was comfortable selecting him as RB9, in the third. Early third if my other targets were gone. Put another way I went into every draft hoping for Ridley in the third and if not Gibbs was one of my main targets.
After the game I still had 4 drafts so had to think about where to slot him. I did not really focus on if he was my RB9 or 11, I just did not feel comfortable having him in his own tier any longer above the likes of Mixon, Rhamondre, ETN, Hall, Jones, Walker, Pierce, J Cook, Javonte, Najee, White, Sanders and maybe some I'm missing.
With the exception of Mixon(who I was way lower on then consensus and not interested at his ADP) you had a good shot to get any of those other RB's in the mid 4th. I was in drafts where every one of them except Rhamondre made it to the 5th at least once.Majority of them lasting into the 6th, sometimes mid 7th.
So how that game impacted me was no longer wanting to spend a third on Gibbs, and instead just putting him in that large mix of RB's that could be had in the late 4th into the 6-7th.
If I actually would have ranked him I think I would have only moved him to RB10, one spot behind Rhamondre, but my long winded reply is to illustrate why the ranking vs other RB's is not as important to the tier I moved him down.
And now after watching every team play? I actually regret moving him off his own tier. Just seeing so many of the RB's in this range I moved him down to get solid volume and struggle while Gibbs frankly made it look easy on his limited touches, which will no doubt grow. I love volume, especially in the passing game, but this time I'm feeling like I I should have given him more credit for how dang easy he made it look and what that means to his upside with just a little uptick in usage.
