RB Jahmyr Gibbs, DET (10 Viewers)

I've made a lot of strong offers for Gibbs (or for the #2 pick, pre-dynasty-draft). Obviously, what I'm willing to offer now is significantly lower than in was pre-dynasty-draft.

I asked him what an acceptable trade would look like.

He said: Gibbs, his 2024 first and second (likely quite early, good shot at top 3, but he's in a very weak division so he could certainly make the playoffs), for Garrett Wilson, Quentin Johnston, Kendre Miller, Tyjae Spears, and Roschon Johnson. I considered that was decidedly too steep. But I did completely understand that opinion, as I would not want to give up Gibbs; I didn't think the offer was crazy. But he went to great lengths to convince me it was a reasonable degree of overpay. I thought it was a bit more than reasonable. Curious what others might think. (Our league is a bit crazy for RB's, which somewhat makes sense because 2-3 out of 6 offensive starters are RB's.)

Also I wasn't necessarily looking for picks, though I am always happy to stock up. But I just used high picks on those 4 2023 rookies he wanted. Doesn't seem like progress to trade them in for fewer picks.
I would take that pretty easily.

Thanks for this, by the way.
If I ever have kids I'm naming them all @Biabreakable

This MoFo is going to sink me after last night. In a must win for 1st round bye my opponent's Gibb killed my Pickens. Feel like it's over before it even starts.
What stings the most is in dynasty 3 years ago I took Bijan instead because he was the RB phenom. Sure, Bijan is good...but he ain't no Gibbs. Oh to turn back the hands of time.

Agreed. Bijan still gets all of the "the next Adrian Peterson" love from the experts, but the difference in these two backs is the occasional monster games that you got from RBs like McCaff, Jamaal Charles, ADP, others and now Gibbs are absent from Bijan's resume through (almost) 3 seasons.

Seems pretty safe now to start talking about him as one of the best to ever play the position. Who knows how his career plays out long term but what he’s done through nearly 3 seasons is beyond Hall of Fame caliber.

Like all great athletes with spectacular starts... injury or romance are the only things that can derail him.

OK, half in jest here, but I often compare Gibbs to Jamaal Charles. Injury got him and he's not going to the HOF.

Charles played 16 games as rookie and only had 600 yards and 1 TD. I see the comp and love Charles but Gibbs is a better player and more complete back.

@BetMGM
This is RIDICULOUS 🤯

Through 45 career games:

Barry Sanders: 5.0 yards per carry
Jahmyr Gibbs: 5.5 yards per carry

Jerry Rice: 43 total TD
Jahmyr Gibbs: 47 total TD

Emmitt Smith: 4,601 total yards
Jahmyr Gibbs: 4,726 total yards

Agreed; however, before you start saying things like "greatest RB of all time" and "HOF" keep in mind that longevity plays a role. Gibbs is AWESOME, nobody can deny that. He's also played less than 3 seasons. There were moments/runs/seasons where guys like Jamaal Charles, Todd Gurley, Chris Johnson, etc. were also AWESOME and now they are footnotes in fantasy football history.

He is so amazing to watch. What I never understood is why DET doesn't involve him even more in the passing game. He should be getting CMC type looks in the passing game. Look at last night. He was amazing in the passing game. You can scheme plays where Gibbs is 1-1 with a linebacker or nickel corner......that's just mismatch.

It's great that he can take any touch to the house..... but what I am most impressed is that....for a smaller guy, he runs well inside and near the goalline. Guy just has all the skills. And he's only 23.

Dude crushed my redraft season and I hate it because I've always been as high on the guy as it gets and instead of being able to enjoy this it's just been crushing.

I did a lot of redraft leagues but he was so elusive for me to draft. If I drew pick 4 he'd go 3, if I was 5 he'd go 4, if I was pick 10 he'd go 6. Was super frustrating and only way I could ever get him was if I used a top two pick on him, which in hindsight I should have but I had him ranked as player 3 overall and barely drew top two picks anyway, two total and went Bijan and Chase so never even got to a point where I needed to veer. Never drew pick 3. This is out of 23 FFPC leagues.

I did a few FFPC Main Event and one guy was in several of my leagues and this lucky guy, who happens to be probably the most succesfull high stakes fantasy player ever, got Gibbs in 3 of them. In two of those leagues I came down to the last week of the regular season, week 12 in this contest, competing against that team in the points race for playoff spots and he ended my seasons with his 55 point game.

Multiple levels of frustration.

Not exactly a hot take but there is no player I'm drafting over him next season, just hope I get a chance.

That's a great duo to have that much, lucky you. But I'm not done this year yet with other teams in the finals so hoping I can actually get some luck this year.

Had one league of my FFPC leagues were the guy got Gibbs, Achane and Taylor, this was not a Main Event but the Big Gorilla. Only thing that held that team back was the Washington duo of Daniels and McClaurin he used this 4th and 5th round picks on. That's a mighty dangerous team.

Their career numbers are strikingly similar. The only substantial difference -- though yes, it is a huge difference -- is total TD's: 47 vs 30. A lot of that is probably Allgeier getting too many of the carries inside the 10.

Without looking up numbers, I'd say the Lions have been the more potent offense since Jahmyr has been in the league.
