RB James Conner, ARZ (1 Viewer)

If he's playing, I start him. Mainly because the options on the wire are thin and I'd rather go down with the guys ho got me here than lose because I picked the wrong waiver wire lottery ticket.

who are people either starting him over/in favor of this week? I’m debating between Connor and Tracy, who has no injury designation heading into Sunday. It’s hard to sit connor if he’s active and Benson isn’t,
but we really don’t know how bad JC’s injury is.

I think Conner is a must start tonight, good info from Mike Clay. Reports all week were also Conner in better shape than Benson.

The Cardinals did not promote Michael Carter (or any RB) to the active roster today, which essentially makes it a certainty that James Conner and Trey Benson will be active tomorrow.

#AZCardinals star RB James Conner, who is questionable with a knee injury, is expected to play against the #Rams, source said.

No hope for the playoffs, extension already signed, and Conner is slated to play at less than 100% for his team.

Slightly concerned about this, but if he starts Dowdle is on the bench for him.

So surprised by this. If he's active, I have to think he's giving it a full go otherwise, why the hell bother?

Hoping for a better read on this prior to kickoff. I thought Benson was more up in the air than Conner.

You cats are reading it wrong, I think. I think he’s less than 100 precent physically, but he’s still going to give it a go.

Rapaport did not mean he was going to half-*** it. Rapaport meant that it was incredible that he’s playing in the condition he is playing in because there’s nothing to really play for and his extension is already signed.

Context, fellas.

He’s a football player and a tough dude - wants to play. Could be that he’s also one of those guys that appreciates having been paid and wants to win for his teammates and fans.

I'm starting to have 2nd thoughts on starting Conner unless I hear extreme positive news on his usage or lack of snap count. I keep going back to this- My only trepidation is Conner really wants to play in every game for the 1st time in his career but could he only get limited amount of plays to accomplish this??

I may avoid the risk and play Ridley or Spears if Pollard is out.

Conner or Mooney for me at flex. 1 PPR

The thought of Kyler being the engine for this offense for a week terrifies the coaching staff so much they are pushing this young man to play through injury lol

I think a lot of you are overthinking this. He’s good to go. However cardinals did lose 2 guys on the O line and rams d has been good against the run

Not sure why the coaching staff would push anyone to play since they are eliminated.
It was a joke…
Maybe throw in a “I hear they’re pulling Larry Centers out of retirement to not have to rely on Kyler” to really land the joke ;)

Need a big day from Conner. He's been a workhorse and one of my favorite players last few years. I already lost Hurts, Njoku, and Kamara for the championship. Wake up this morning and Hubbard is on IR. Lucked out and picked up Dobbs 2 days ago. Have to start him. If i win my championship its a miracle.

Joshua? ;)

i’d go connor…I’m between connor and tracy in a ppr
Ditto. Hoping for more clarity on usage by kickoff.

Pelissaro just now on NFL network saying "Conner is full go."
"Full go" is not the words I would have chosen.

Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner (knee) is expected to play against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 17 despite being listed as questionable, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Conner picked up the injury during last Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers in which he totaled 117 rushing yards, 49 receiving yards, and one touchdown. Rapoport notes that it's encouraging to see Conner suit up with the Cardinals already eliminated from playoff contention, but he'll be playing at less than 100 percent on Saturday. As a result, he might drop to the RB2 tier in fantasy football. At the same time, Trey Benson (ankle), who is also listed as questionable, could earn additional opportunities out of the backfield.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller

Agreed. The thing that I heard yesterday that was concerning was that he was "visibly limping" in practice. He's a gamer, no doubt. And, if your other options are a tier or two below, then you probably give him a go no questions asked. But, I'm in a situation where he might BARELY edge my other options if he's at 90% or more (in which case I think he's still a low end RB1). Anything less than that (RB2 territory), and I'm inclined to err on the side of caution and go a different direction.

Probably wise. If you're wrong, I'm sure you can live with it.

Michael Carter just activated from the practice squad. This tells me either Benson or Conner may be inactive. Too much up in the air with Conner, going with Spears over him.

I'd think that means Benson could be inactive. He was a longer shot to play vs. Conner.

The Coachspeak Index
James Conner’s workload = safe

(and you’re drafting Trey Benson too early for the second year in a row)

Josh Norris
"Last year you said James Conner would be your workhorse back. With Trey Benson's growth, do you still feel like that is James' role?"

"Absolutely..."

the Cardinals are being very clear and consistent about this

I probably won’t draft Benson or Conner at ADP in redraft.

In dynasty it makes a lot of sense to move for Benson, IMO. The cliff is coming. I’m sure Conner will be the man as long as he can, but time is not on his side.

Conner owners feel compelled to own Benson?

Had Conner all last year without Benson. I wonder if we'll all be so lucky again.

Not sure Benson is all that good to be honest or if he'd split with some random RB back there.

Conner has been a target for me this year. Just a boring, complete lack of buzz player...who admittedly turned 30 this offseason, and we know age wise...that scares us in the FF world. But between 7/29 & 8/31...there were exactly zero posts on this board about him.

But Gannon/Petzig love him. in 29 games under their leadership the last 2 seasons, he's produced: 2713 YFS & 18 TD's. He's done this averaging 15.3 carries/game, so we're not talking workhorse numbers.

Career wise...he has 1361 carries. By comparison, Josh Jacobs who is close to three years younger, has 1606.

Conner Strong! Big fan of this player and person. Steelers made a huge mistake allowing him to leave. Still a believer in his age 30 season and Benson carries should keep Conner fresher through the season.

If he goes down, obviously Benson gets a healthy bump but I'd rather have more Kyler and McBride or Marv in that scenario.
