Or buy high. A bellcow RB on an offense that looks totally different than last year.
No matter who it is playing RB, you can see that Cincy wants their #1RB to be in on 70%+ of plays.

That offense looks great, they have historically given the load to 1 guy and Gio is battling through a couple injuries.

This was a popular take all off-season. It didn't look so good week 1 when Mixon out touched Gio 22-2. Everyone gets to run their fantasy team how they like. But I sure don’t look to trade players that played like Mixon did earlier this season.
Situation has totally changed from the offseason. A) Cincy is now a contender and B) Mixon has gotten hurt.
I'll concede that Mixon is more talented but the dropoff is not as great is FF owners want to believe. Gio just averaged nearly 5ypc in two big wins.
Lazor will want both Mixon and Gio healthy and productive for the entire season and best way to do that and still win is to split the load.
Maybe at the end of the season / in the playoffs they will turn to Mixon as a bell cow.

Let's just say that Gio is back this week and is 100%- no stiffness, no pain and no limitations. Where do you rank him among fantasy backs ROS?
Perception for Mixon is prolly in the 6-10 range given his Week 1 performance and the crowd consensus and perceived bell cow role.
Reality is more like the 15-20 range at least until after the bye IMO.

Not sure about rankings but let me put it this way. If I drafted Mixon I would normally try and draft Gio in the round 10 range. If I did not draft Mixon I never drafted Gio but would have looked at him in the 12-13 round range. Assuming both are healthy, nothing has changed.
ETA-I think I read question wrong and thought it was where would I rank Gio. I think I'd put Mixon as RB7 assuming he is fully healthy.

If you go back in this thread you'll see posts from the off-season where myself and others say that Gio is a very good player but that Mixon is better. I don't think this is a case where we're underrating Gio.
The situation now is not that different than week 1. Gio played well last year and he played well weeks 3 and 4. When Mixon comes back I'm sure Gio will get more touches than he did week 1 but that's not really what we're taking about, we're talking about whether now is a good time to sell Mixon. Barring some kind of crazy good offer I'd hold onto him because he looks like a very good player.
Additionally you're using YPC (not an especially useful stat) and your total guess as to what the Bengals coaches are thinking to justify your position. This is a sharp board. Respectfully, those are not sharp tools, we can do a lot better. If you can point to something on tape that diminishes Mixon's value I'm all ears but if you're telling me to sell because Miss Cleo the psychic told you all of Bill Lazor's future plans....well in that case I'm less interested

What offers are people getting/offering for mixon? I was offered Edelman and Aaron Jones or Ajayi. I've declined both.

let's just hold the praise for Mixon, he carved up a weak Colts defense in week one, avg'd 5.59/carry and came back to earth vs. Ravens averaging 4.0 yards per carry..so his stats are skewed.
his career ypv avg is 3.7..not sure where all the praise is coming from. he avg'd 3.52 ypc last year on 178 carries..in 14 games. in only 2 games in 2017 did Mixon receive more than 18 carries.
he's not nearly as good as some in here make him out to be. Gio will continue to get playing time if/when Mixon comes back (from what I've read, it looks unlikely he plays week 5, BTW).

Actually they have been splitting between 2 Rb for quite a while now. When one Rb would get most of the work is when the other rb is injured.
They may have changed that for Mixon but the history is a 200/150 rushing attempt split with the cop getting more targets in the passing game. This goes back to the Law Firm so a pretty long time.

After week 3, I sent Nuk for Mixon.Maybe a bit of an overpay but my WR situation is good and I think WR depth is pretty nuts this year. My RB situation was brutal and the whole position is a mess. I have Mixon has about RB6-10 for the ROS and Hopkins at about WR1-5 so I think the slight tier drop is about right given the difference in the positional scarcity right now.

ETA: You traded Nuk for Mixon... I misread that. Wow. I can see why you did and on paper it looks terrible but taking into consideration your teams it may have been fair. Just feel like you could have gotten a better RB

On paper, it is a step down for sure. However, my team was in a tailspin and my RBs were really problematic. I had Keenan Allen, Calvin Ridley, Tyler Boyd, Sammy Watkins, Godwin and Nuk. So I felt I could deal with my WRs and play match-ups. Last week it went well, played Ridley where I would have started Nuk. I thought Mixon was one of the last shots at getting a potential difference making RB.
Yeah, that's why I made the offer. I wanted the Mixon owner to take it.

As a Mixon owner, who is better than most after him (Barkley, Mixon, Freeman, Collins) I would probably take that deal too. I could actually use a top WR and I think between Collins and Freeman I'd be okay at RB...

Also it might not be far off. After week 2, if there was no news of a knee cleanup, I think most people rank Mixon and Nuk pretty closely as first round players. So my move really depends on Mixon recovering fully and picking up where he left off. I think he could offer Melvin Gordon like production.

I think we can all agree that Mixon will likely get eased back into action somewhat coming off his surgery. But you guys who are predicting 60/40 or a pure split from here on out are way off in the "feelings zone" and are ignoring lots of the evidence we have in projecting this backfield

It is possible but Gio has been battling some injuries and might be more hurt than Mixon at this point. It's really tough to say.

Also to address that point-
This is standard so that tilts things a bit. After 3 weeks, Nuk was doing well but still only 1 TD and only 1 100 yard game. He was doing well but it was just a decent start for him. Hadn't really won me a game but hadn't really lost one either. Now I would have preferred Kamara, Gurley, Saquon, Gordon on Zeke but that just wasn't happening. Those guys are untouchable. After that, it's a pretty even pack of RBs. Also so much of trading depends on team make-up. As bad as RBs have been and as good as so many WRs have been, nobody is trading an equivalent RB1 for WR1 straight up IMO.

Feel bad for Gio. He helped me win the last 2 weeks, but I had to drop him this week to find a defense for the bye week.
Just giving a heads up - they have not been afraid to use Walton so far in the backup role, he looks good, and he will almost certainly be the #2 back while Gio is out. I don't want to jinx Mixon, but if you need a handcuff, there are a lot worse to pick up.
