RB Jonathan Taylor, IND (2 Viewers)

I don’t have a crystal ball regarding Taylor, but it is clear Goodson is outplaying Sermon. Surely this is evident to the coaches.
Pretty sure I’m straight up dropping Sermon for Maye (to replace Kyler), Douglas to slide in one of my 3 WR spots, or Vidal to stash. I have Taylor.

You don’t think Sermon can strike gold with the matchup this week? It’s an easy one.

Sure, but so could Goodson. After all he’s looked better.

It’s either Slayton and/or Sermon getting dropped for claims on Maye (Kyler is killing me) and Demario. I really would’ve loved if Sermon scored more than 2.9 points…since I lost by less than a point.

Start 1QB league? If yes, I wouldn’t have a woody for Maye in that offense. If Superflex or some other variation of start 2 QBs, then drop Sermon for Maye if you can do without Sermon this week. Otherwise drop Slayton for a Maye if SF.

In fairness to Sermon he has looked decent at times, but yes, he stunk it up Sunday and Goodson looked better.

In fairness to Sermon he has looked decent at times,
Honest question: When?
Last year he averaged 4.6 yards per carry in only 35 carries and this year he does have 7 receptions on 7 targets, but only 2,5 yards per carry. I’ve watched all of his plays as a Colt and I’ve seen some decent moments, but yes, he hasn’t looked good overall. I already said Goodson has looked better, but he isn’t that good either.

I'm a 49er fan and Sermon couldn't get out of his own way. He just never lived up to his potential

Taylor and Sermon both missed practice Wednesday. Sermon has some kind of knee injury. They added Salvon Ahmed to the practice squad.

Signs are pointing towards another week without JT and possibly Sermon. Goodson has generally just been more effective. I'm adding him speculatively to a lot of my bigger leagues. I'll probably play him in multiple leagues vs Miami if things break right.

Definitely grab and hold him if you've got the roster space.

Literally just picked up Goodson 2 minutes ago as a JT owner. Damn this injury sure is lingering...

Yup.

That's been a lesson this year. Coaching staff, players, media, etc. say it's not that bad, and then it's 3-4 weeks. Mixon was similar. JT had a "mild" high ankle sprain or something silly sounding. Cook was confident he was going to play MNF until he didn't.

Moreso than ever, I'm picking up these backup RB's on a speculative basis. In my younger years, I figured football players were so tough and would probably always be able to play come Sunday. Now I'm burnt and jaded and trying to steal everyone's backups.

(Edit to say I'm not saying they're not tough for being injured. It was more about my folly in thinking people would never miss games).

How many weeks has he been out now? I'm surprised they did not just add him to the IR.
Think it was similar to Mixon. They didn't believe the ankle sprain was going to be that long but ended up lingering. Could really use JT this week, especially with Sermon injured now.

Sounds like Sermon was back at practice yesterday. Sermon’s not amazing, but he’ll take volume. Was excited to see Goodson as the starter for this week, felt like the most useful option.

Does not seem really close, not expecting him next week either.
What makes you say that?
Just not so much as one practice.

Someone mentioned Mixon in the post above and he got in a limited the Friday before he returned.

Mixon also missed 3 games with a similar injury. Njoku missed 3. Watson only one off top of my head seems to have beat that recovery timeline with a high ankle.

Saying all that I would relay that Stiechen said he's "really close".

Mixon came out of no where to be healthy so it can happen. I'm staying patient.
Not exactly, Mixon got in a practice the Friday the previous week before he returned.
I'm just saying JT could practice next week and be good to go. He was optimistic this week so I'm hoping.
He didn't sound optimistic to me at all. "I'm not sure I'm going to practice this week" doesn't scream confidence at all.
