Woody Marks’ 93rd percentile IGA Score® reflects the kind of In-Game Athleticism™ that shows up on tape — explosive linear speed with the ability to string together cuts and maintain tempo through traffic.
IGA Score®: 93.4 (93rd percentile)
Dynamic and efficient mover with a slashing style and deceptive top-end burst.

Woody Marks is a perfect complementary back for Joe Mixon. He has good size and can play on all three downs. Automatic hands out of the backfield.
My thoughts on Woody Marks for Texans:
Balances patience with decisiveness, setting blocks into defenders & bursting past the collision. He glides through lanes with vision & enough shake to create missed tackles over the first two levels. He lacks breakaway speed in open field & contact power between the tackles. He’s experienced with sure hands as a pass catcher, with the ability to elude the first tackler in space. Marks projects as a slashing complementary back capable of finding yardage and adding value on passing downs.

Jo'quavious Marks was drafted in round 4 pick 116 in the 2025 draft class. He scored a 6.66 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 704 out of 2106 RB from 1987 to 2025.

Woody Marks is potentially a PERFECT fit in HOU given his ability to run outside zone, but there is one area of his game that could prevent him from getting on the field….NEW PROFILES on @RecepPerception dropped today

Don’t sleep on Texans rookie RB Woody Marks. Mixon hurt. Chubb is washed. The team doesn’t like Pierce:

Woody Marks in the receiving game is going to be money for the Texans this fall.![]()
@TexansJacob
Seems to be a lot of Woody Marks in with 1st team today.
He deserves this opportunity especially as the main 3rd down RB with this team after his pass protection on Saturday & his ability to catch the football.
Love what I’ve seen from Woody in camp.

Buckle in, folks. Woody Marks with some fantastic pass pro reps.
Line is completely mugged up. Slovis sends Marks out. No one follows. Changes the protection to slide left. Marks is head up vs ILB Brian Asamoa and stones him.
I'm out of my chair in full applause.
Next, Marks on an island vs a blitzing DB. Marks takes away the inside shoulder. Marks is about to release hot, i.d.'s, and resets his feet. That's a W.
Two minute drill. Slide left protection. They're leaving Marks on an island with Asamoah. W
Another W vs Asamaoh. This time Marks moves right to left to pick him up. W
Special Teams reps matter for rookie running backs. Pay attention to this stuff. Marks (bottom left) checks the protection, sees that Nieman needs help and steps up for the chip. This all important stuff outside of the runs. W
Punt return duties. Marks fight off #56 Austin Keyes (6'0" 247) to work down the field and earn a tackle. W

Woody Marks on a nifty split zone run today picking up seven yards after contact.
Credit to the blocking up front and a devastating cut block by the H-back, Cade Stover.

DeMeco Ryans on Woody Marks (who rushed 7 times for 40 yards, 5.7 ypc, GREAT day):
“Definitely shined today.. running through 4 defenders, 3 defenders at times, still falling forward.”
Highlights RB pass pro too including Jawhar Jordan.
Kid looks like he's got something. His first cutback was sharp to the backside and a really nice run for 10+. Next play was a good tough 7 yard gain up the middle. He's been pretty good in pass pro too. Missed one today but it was on a play action and he couldn't quite jump over there as Mills had to scramble away. As a Texans fan, I'd like him to fit in as the change of pace to whichever one of Mixon, Chubb, or Pierce starts. If Dare stays then he'll probably handle 3rd downs, but I think Marks is capable of doing that job soon.I love this kid. I have Marks & Pierce in one league. I was so mad they brought in Chubb.
love to hear it.If Dare stays then he'll probably handle 3rd downs, but I think Marks is capable of doing that job soon.
Not inconceivable he ends up the best back here by mid season if Mixon doesn't make it back. Chubb did look better today than I thought he would, however.
Jo'Quavious "Woody" Marks rushed 7 times for 40 yards while catching his lone target for no gain in the Texans’ preseason Week 2 game against the Panthers.
Marks had a long gain of 12, and looked solid after Nick Chubb exited the game along with the other starters. The former USC tailback has some potential dynasty upside, but isn’t likely to be a helper in redraft leagues this season.

I have several shares. I find it hard to believe he isn’t in for a significant role this year.Anyone else getting a woody from watching Mr. Marks? While it'll likely be a major RBBC early on I see his upside being a Shady McCoy type. The competition doesn't seem that fierce given the Mixon situation and less than stellar backups. If this Mixon injury lingers as I expect I could see Woody eventually being RB1 and getting the lions share of work especially on passing downs. Definitely worth a late round pick for fantasy purposes.

Marks has looked way too good in action to pump the brakes too hard. He more than passes the eye test and IMO he’s the best of all the backs in the receiving game.I have to pump the brakes on that one. Most of the noise from the analysts and the beats have been that with Mixon out it's either Pierce or Chubb getting early down work and Marks or Ogunbowale getting the later-down work.

Not saying they’re not valid, but with Mixon’s ongoing foot issue, Chubb looking kinda mediocre, and Pierce looking very JAG-ish, I just don’t see how Marks doesn’t get an opportunity to shine here. They could be wrong and I've been duped. But their arguments are more convincing than the glowing report from preseason or camp.
Except that Week 18 game last season when he ran for a career high 176 yards and a TDPierce just hasn’t looked good since his one solid year.

Some of the reports have been very positive. From what I've read, the people that seem to be calling this preseason correctly have pretty much said what I said before. Does that mean I'm right and you're wrong? No. Not at all. They could be wrong and I've been duped. But their arguments are more convincing than the glowing report from preseason or camp.
Ok, sure. Fair. Against the 3-14 Titans, buoyed by a 92 yard TD. Otherwise he had 18 for 84, and was a blank in the receiving game.Except that Week 18 game last season when he ran for a career high 176 yards and a TDPierce just hasn’t looked good since his one solid year.
That’s how I’m looking at it too. His receiving profile. Strong pass catching profile. I have him above Ollie right now in who I am trying to grab in redraft.I am pretty high on Marks (the fact the Texans dealt a 2026 3rd to get him carries a lot of weight IMO) but I don't see him being the workhorse...my guess is he will be part of an RBBC but will take a big slice of the receptions...all about expectations with a player like Marks...I look at him as a depth RB that I can hopefully spot start based on injuries and /or byes and anything other than that will be a bonus.

Woody Marks out of duo. His sole responsibility is to react to what the linebacker declares. He does that effectively, with good burst and no wasted steps throughout the run. Six-yard gain on 1st and 10.
He's had one of the best preseasons of the rookie RBs.
