RB Kareem Hunt, KC (4 Viewers)

So far I have been wrong about my thoughts on Hunt.  He didn't pass my eye test but that's why I am here and not in an NFL front office.

What I was right on in the fantasy gold of being a RB in an Reid offense.

My question is what the hell did West do to get no looks/carries. lol  The guy has like 1 carry for 25 yrds and a TD.  He must have slept with someones wife
He was awful last year. I would have watched Charles playing on one leg.

Hunt >> Ware >>>>> West IMO. It was frustrating seeing Reid feed West the ball when Ware was healthy, and it'd be downright infuriating now with Hunt tearing it up like he is.

Agreed that the league will cycle back to RBs that can carry the load. The NFL has a lot of old guys, fewer middle aged guys, and then two new crops of good RBs coming in (this year and next). Running the ball with a good defense can negate the high flying offenses.

I also think that people in dynasty are discounting Ware's return to KC next year. Yeah, he got hurt, but he didn't die that I'm aware of. Have to worry that Hunt doesn't run out of gas late in the year just like Ware did. Plenty of rookies aren't ready for an extended season compared to college. More hits by bigger guys take their toll. Hunt looks upper crust right now though. Ride the wave for however long it lasts.

Dynasty smart move may be to trade for Ware on the cheap so the KC backfield is still locked up. Redraft, probably should get West. Nice running situation to invest in.

PCL,LCL tears are no joke. Worse than ACL tears. He might not even be ready next September and 2018 is the last year of his contract.

Hunt was already threatening Ware's job in preseason. You think Ware is gonna come back and take it from Hunt?

I question whether Ware will be back at all. The team seemingly moved past him trading up to take Hunt, and they could draft a backup next year on the cheap who isn't coming off of a blown out knee.

Not sure Ware is worth rostering, but if you have room, sure. Why not.

Leveon Bell - Love him as a player, plus he went to my school

David Johnson - He is their offense, and even though he was an older rookie, I also expect him to last a little longer than normal backs because less tread on the tires

Zeke Elliot - He only had one year of great production and behind the leagues best line, but I have a hard time thinking that Dallas won't have an above average line for a while. Legal troubles scare me a little.

Those guys all above Hunt

These guys are same tier

Todd Gurley - I think 2016 was the outlier for him, the Rams will get better and he is the biggest beneficiary of it. I could see him being in the discussion for top overall back after this year.

Melvin Gordon - The Chargers use their backs in a variety of ways, if they ever get decent at run blocking Gordon could crack the top 3

Leonard Fournette - he is on a bad team and doing well right now, similar to Gurley's rookie year

Dalvin Cook - I just love his talent, I think he ends up being the best back from this class, it is my opinion

Jay Ajayi - He is a workhorse, getting more involved in the passing game and I love that fact that people are always sleeping on him. I have traded for him and feel like I have gotten him cheap. In one league where I have tried to sell him, I can't get fair value for him

Derrick Henry - The writing is on the wall in Tennessee, at worst this is Henry's backfield starting 2018. Plus there are weapons galore and a young qb that can run.

Saquon Barkley - I know, I know he hasn't played yet. This kid just looks special, like really special, the type of guy that comes around once a decade type.

Guys that just missed Christian McCaffery, Joe Mixon, Devonta Freeman, Nick Chubb, Derrius Guice

Take this with a grain of salt, I only try to predict 2 or 3 years out at the most in dynasty, too much change happens year in and year out. I also believe next years running back class could be special, like 1983 qb class special.
This seems pretty reasonable to me.

As far as the 2018 NFL draft, what other RB do you see being the top prospects besides Barkley?

I think the 2017 draft class was exceptionally talented and deep at the RB position. Better than I have seen since the 2005 draft. So while possible, it seems unlikely that 2018 will be as good as the 2017 group.

I think he was just saying Ware could come back next year and take some of the workload - not Hunt's job. He signed a 3 year contract in 2016 with pretty cheap yearly base salaries and a $1MM singing bonus. I believe he only makes about $700k next year (non-guaranteed) so if he's healthy I can see them keeping him around.

Oh for sure - they'll have a backup.

but he seemed to be suggesting Ware could hurt Hunt's value and was worth rostering in Dynasty.

perhaps he's simply speaking of a handcuff and I misunderstood.

I'm back to eat my weekly serving of crow.  His value is still going up every week and will continue to if he keeps scoring a long TD every week.

We should have sold high after that first game fellow Kareem owners, right? There was no way his value could increase, right?

Long TD?  The kid gets every yard available on every carry. And then a couple more.  His vision is top drawer and he has second level speed.  A true talent.

I agree,  I never thought he was bad, just that it was unlikely that he would be scoring insane points every week and on his way to solid top 5 Dynasty asset.  It probably was unlikely, but he did it and I was wrong.

I own Zeke in a PPR salary cap dynasty league and I would really, really have to think about.

Zeke is 12.5k (125k cap) with 3 years left, Hunt is 3k with 4 years left.

I never did eat crow on this. Hunt is in my mind hands down the best back in the league right now.
Reminds me if now Cadillac Williams burst into the scene.  This is a hard one to gauge because he could be as good as advertised or he could be in one of those lucky situational scenarios, sort of like that one year when Dwayne Bose appeared as the second coming. Guess I'm saying what if it's situational. Can he have a huge garbage td most weeks?  Will game plan set him up like this most of the time?  I don't know. No dog in it. Don't play fantasy but some of this looks like the chiefs are playing over the head a bit and have a hand in the lucky pot right now.  Great streak. Fun.  Could continue. But hard to me to see this holding up every week.

There's no situation where Hunt isn't going to dominate.

Close game - Hunt gets fed and makes plays, as we see every time he touches the ball

Blowout or garbage time - see 1 hour ago

Losing - gotta pass? Yeahhhhh he's pretty good in the receiving game

He's as good as advertised. Every time I watch him touch the ball I'm in awe.  It's not even those 60 yard runs that are the most impressive aspect of his game - it's the runs where he looks dead to rights but breaks 3-4 tackles on his way to a modest gain. I see no flaws in his game. Even if he doesn't continue this pace my mind won't change as long as he looks the same in game. Even if he didn't break off that 69 yarder at the end of the game today I would be singing the same tune.

Well unless someone thinks he's going to easily have the greatest RB season ever - I think everyone doesn't see this holding up every week.
Logically, we can all easily say that but in reading some of the posts, you can tell several people are not far off your statement.  We have a rookie player who has played three games and you have people saying they would trade him for Ezekiel Elliot only and all other offers are laughable?

The bar is skewed closer to the unreasonable than reasonable.

People have been saying that Hunt isn't going to put up numbers like this for three weeks in a row now. I suppose eventually they will be right as every player has a bad game sometimes.

Its three weeks in a row now. It doesn't seem like something that won't be possible each week moving forward.

I love his production, I own him in two leagues, but it isn't sustainable. He's been getting bottled up for 3 1/2 quarters the last few weeks until he busts off a huge run. I remember Ahman Green and Barry Sanders doing that, but they had their share of stinkers too.

I agree. I like him. He's exciting. He might be the next big thing. But I don't think he could put up 12-15 every week and garner this same few some have taken.  Again, I don't have anything in it or care enough to stay on these points but I think like the vast majority of players, sometimes they just run unusually hot .  Guess I'm saying this is probably above normal

He is averaging like 7 yards a run.  This ain't no fluke.  They've also played the eagles front seven.

Don't underestimate Reid's ability to blow a game script and give his stud RB <10 carries.  Ask jamaal....

And Elliott was a rookie last year.  You don't put up three games like this unless you are the real deal.
