RB Kerryon Johnson, Free Agent (1 Viewer)

Thing these guys don't get coming from the Patriots is that they don't have Brady at QB. You have to adapt to your talent. Riddick shouldnt be getting do many snaps. Third and long only. They have to make it easy for the qb and provide a threat if running it.
I don't have any real issue with Theo (he and KJ can even be on the field at the same time). My issue is 100% with Blount who offers nothing.

Blount can be used as a battering ram for the team in the 4th quarter when they have a two or three touchdown lead... Yeah you're right there's no use for him on this team.

I don't think that he offers 'nothing' per se.

I just don't think that Blount does anything better than KJ does.

So if Blount doesn't do anything better than what KJ does, why would you give Blount an equal 'share' in the committee?

Give KJ a much greater percentage of the snaps and touches and allow your offense to be a more dynamic multi-dimensional offense.

Something tells me that the bearded fat ladies strength isn't in running back Talent evaluation. The way he talks about Riddick and blunt you think that they were all three about the same Talent level. I get that it's a team and it's the political thing to say but hopefully we see some changes going forward. I'm not holding my breath since it seems like the head coach's defensive-minded and he just kind of hands the offense over to the OC. I was hoping he could see the talent and maybe Direct some changes but it sounds like he's on board so could be a while before the break out.

I was offered Kerryon & Mike Evans for my Fournette & Juju. (PPR dynasty)

I think the drop off @ Rb I'd take is not worth the WR upgrade here. Especially since RB is my weak spot & I am strong at WR without Evans.

He initially offered Breida & KJ for Fournette.

His situation is similar to Royce Freeman's. Both are RB ones if they ever get enough usage. Lindsey's effectiveness is limiting Freeman's touches in Denver. Nothing but terrible coaching limiting Johnson's in Detroit

Yea the big difference is that Freeman's committee pal is a young rookie who is just as productive as he is and looks to be a thorn in his side (from a fantasy standpoint) for the long haul.

Kerryon's committee pal is an aging vet that is much less productive than Kerryon and will likely be out of the picture by the end of the year at the latest.

Did you read my post? I said that exact thing.

New offer of A. Collins & KJ for Fournette

Got dinged up to end the game, but the team is saying he's fine. He had 12 carries for 70 yards. Plus 2 catches for 15 yards.

Bye week coming up next. Hopefully he'll get even more work coming out of that.

What sucks is watching Blount vulture the TDs. You can be sure that's what the Lions will do all season long. I expect Johnson's TD numbers to be very low because of it. Very frustrating.

Dear Matt Patricia -

Please see what we all see.  And what you saw on his Auburn film that made you draft him.  (God, I wanted the Steelers to take him to replace Le'Veon).

Thanks,

The Auburn fan who drafted him in every single league.

Didn't see game highlights yet. Did he look as good as his stat line? Blount presence obviously a ceiling limiter in 2018 but 2019 he seems poised to be a RB1

He looked very good. Broke tackles, showed good speed, can catch. I didn't pay attention to pass blocking. Blount also looked decent. He will get most of the short yardage TDs.

Great to see him finally shine.

Was desperately trying to crowbar from another owner for weeks, who was holding firm believing as I did there was value still to be had, and had unreasonable expectations on trade value.

I would not overpay, but at least my instincts were on.

He looks absolutely awesome. A true stud in the making. Unfortunately, Patrichka doesn't want Blount to feel left out so he's going to get all the damn goal-line carries. Which will keep Johnson out of the elite tier.  At least for this season. But he looks like a great keeper.

Kerryon actually got hit shot at the goal line but couldn't convert.  His big day could've been bigger.

He got a goal line look.

And truth is Blount looked great too.

Yesterday yes.  The Detroit O-Line was just bossing the Miami front 7.

Pro Football Talk reports Kerryon Johnson is week to week with a sprained knee.

Ian Rapoport reported the sprained knee on Sunday night, but this gives something of a timetable. It would be a shock if Johnson is ready to face the Bears on Thanksgiving, but he could return after that. LeGarrette Blount, Theo Riddick, and Zach Zenner should handle backfield duties while Johnson is sidelined. Riddick is the only interesting fantasy play of that bunch.

This was best case scenario. Honestly, it's not the worst thing in the world to not have him for short week vs. Bears. People would start him and he's probably have a 16/40 stat line and flip a coin for a TD. My guess is whoever your next man up is would probably outscore him were he healthy vs. the Bears anyway.

Hopefully the extra rest will have him ready after that though and it's just one week. Because man he looked great. Obviously I'm biased, but after Gurley, Saquan, Kamara, Zeke, Gordon you can make a case for him as dynasty RB6 in non or .5ppr. CMC, Mixon and Hunt all in contention. Maybe throw Chubb in there. DJ IMO is too old and the team too much of a dumpster fire for him to be in convo.

Kerryon Johnson - RB -  Lions

The Detroit Free Press confirms Kerryon Johnson (knee) is not expected to play on Thanksgiving.

The short week does Johnson no favors. Johnson is not expected to require surgery, but he is in danger of missing multiple games. The Lions will resort to some combination of LeGarrette Blount, Theo Riddick, and perhaps Zach Zenner in the backfield for Thursday's early game against the Bears.

Only 360 rushing yards away from breaking 1,000.  Would be first Lion to do that since Reggie Bush.  5 games (if missing this week" to do it.

Any news on this guy today? Projections are showing that he'll be the starting back and Blount's projections are back in the basement. But based on what? Is he supposed to be back this week?

I don't have any information but my opponent this week is starting Blount and I also noticed his projections dipped way down.

There's a lot of local speculation that they could shut him down. I have no actual news but they did suddenly shut down Jones who was week to week with a knee and the rookie really doesn't need to show the Lions anything more at this point. Lions absolutely need to tank right now. There's their excuse.

Is the rumor that they shutdown Jones just because they're out of contention? I thought he just quietly had a worse injury than expected?

No one knows, it’s just speculation.

But given they shut down MJJ when it was clear he could have come back later this year, who knows their intent with Jamal Agnew & Kerryon Johnson. Team seems like it’s in full tanking mode.

But MJJ coming back with a couple games left is very different than KJ coming back with like 5 weeks left. Also their injuries were very different and MJJ is much older. Just saying.

I parroted what others are speculating locally.

FTR it was reported five days ago Jones (28) was expected back for the Rams game.

Nothing to gain from the lions perspective so tanks till next year for all their chipped up blue chips.
Totally agree. Lions would be best to use most of the rest of the season to get vets healthy, let youngsters gain experience and try different players out at different spots to see how they respond. Basically self scouting. Ideally they land a high pick that they can trade out of with a QB hungry team.

Maybe they wanna make sure Kerryon is the answer at that position? Idk that I've seen enough to put him above some marquee free agents or big prospects outta college.

I call nonsense on this tank talk in general but especially as it relates to the Lions.  I saw the Raiders win a game in week 11 and they looked like they just won a huge playoff game and arguably no coach has more job safety then Gruden.  Patricia is having a rough go of trying to create a new culture, winning will help the culture change he is trying to implement and that's a lot more important to the decision makers on that team than a few draft slots. When Kerryon is healthy enough to play he's going to play.

No need to even get into fact of how poor a draft this is to tank. If team was ever going to tank it's for a Luck type QB prospect.

Really? He’s looked good to me. They traded up in the 2nd to take him. I don’t see anyway they look to replace him next year with a marquee FA or high draft pick. That is crazy imo.
