RB Kimani Vidal, LAC (1 Viewer)

Dobbins returned to practice, per numerous reports. Listed as questionable. Vidal and Haskins would be next guys up if Edwards (out) and Dobbins (questionable) can’t go.

eta* Dobbins listed as having a full practice, but he is still listed as questionable. If that helps at all, which I think it does.

Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins (knee) is officially questionable to be activated from Injured Reserve and play against the New England Patriots on Saturday. The former Baltimore Ravens' second-round pick has missed the last four games after suffering a knee injury but could return to action after logging two limited practices on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, he did not practice on Thursday, so he might be on the wrong side of questionable for Week 17. Gus Edwards (ankle) won't play against the Patriots, so if Dobbins is also out, rookie Kimani Vidal and veteran Hassan Haskins will likely share touches. All Chargers' backs are risky fantasy options given all the uncertainty.
No. Right from the Chargers. Full participant, questionable. Thursday.

Scroll down right past the post that says “headin’ east” and you’ll see Dobbins above Edwards. Edwards DNP and listed as “out."

Ok. Thanks for the info. I got it from the today’s snips from RTSports. I did pick him up just in case.

You’re welcome. I got fooled by a Tyrone Tracy blurb today. It said Tracy practiced when he apparently did no such thing (I think). I think AI is putting these things together, and they’re often wrong. You really have to double check from the original report. Pain in the keester, but until Google and other engines stop using AI so much, we’re stuck doing it.

I mean, has any product become more enshittified than Google because of their AI? I mean, besides Facebook, but that’s for other reasons than AI.

Hopefully we get Dobbins back this week. But can we trust him in our championship lineups?

Depends on your rooster, guy. No, I’m kidding but being serious. I also posted this in the Vidal thread because somebody was thinking of going with Vidal. I thought the Dobbins practice report was important enough to Vidal’s prospects to post.

So this wasn’t a Dobbins post, really. It was a “how does this affect Vidal” posting.

But to your question: If you were in my situation where you were staring at Tyrone Tracy, Kendre Miller, or Austin Hooper to fill out your last TE/RB spot (been my Achilles’ heel all year), you’d love a Dobbins on your roster returning from the dead. If you had, say, a Charbonnet sitting around, I’d go with Charbonnet in a heartbeat.
What about a matchup where I'm the clear underdog and in my flex I have either Kupp or McMillan in a PPR? Opponent already has 50+ points on the board thanks to Lamaar Jackson and Kelce.

That’s a tough one. I’d have to have paid attention more closely to McMillan to give you advice. I know that Dobbins in PPR went 23, 20, 8, 9, 18, 10, 17, 24.50 (high of all games), 8.50, 18.90, 8.90. He hasn’t broken a hundred yards since Week 2, and those high scores at the end are games in which he scored two touchdowns.

I’d lean McMillan or Kupp given your situation. That’s only what I would do, though, and I’ve been a lousy sit/start guy in the past (although not this year).

This where we read about a new fitness approach he took and a cool new diet. He will threaten Harris and Hampton for carries.

Unless he pulls a “Tonya Harding” on Harris and Hampton’s knees he’ll be standing next to the running back coach on the sideline. He can forgot about his diet, might as well order a burger while he’s waiting there ..

I have a contending team with three good backs and nothing behind them. I really don't want to touch this with a 10-foot pole. I think I 'd lean slightly in this direction over Haskins, but that's probably based on 2024 nostalgia and the euphoria I felt on the wheel route TD in Denver more than anything concrete. If I take an injury, I'll probably regret not dipping a toe in these waters, but I really don't want to.

They have to do something, right? At bare minimum, elevating another practice squad player.

I'm seeing some sources that have Nyheim Hines on their practice squad (28 going on 29). The name probably interests me as much as Haskins/Vidal, but not sure he has anything left.

Maybe signing Donovan Edwards off the Commanders PS? However, I think Harbaugh was still around when Mullings took his lunch.

Swap 7s to bring Raheim Sanders back? Not sure what role he has on the Browns after Judkins got settled.

Not exactly a spry 30-year old, but Zeke signed on the Chargers PS for the playoffs. However, he officially retired.

Also 30, Dalvin Cook has not retired.

There, I think I've officially made Vidal or Haskins interesting by comparison. If you think you might need a plug during bye weeks, pick one, or both or if you're swimming with bench spots you have nothing better to do with?

He's been on the PS
How do you throw that in this discussion?
A lot today has been how much they have liked him and he could step forward and...the PS aspect gives me pause

They activated him for yesterday before Omarion was hurt. That doesn't preclude them from getting an experienced back or somebody who they feel is better at carrying the load.

I got Vidal on a few teams including a primetime where I lost Hampton and the guy I played outbid me for Haskins I won Vidal $111 to $110......and started him.

That was the good now the bad I picked up Haskins over Vidal in several others and started him

Really regretting not grabbing Vidal and only putting him on my watchlist. I don't usually miss these kinds of opportunities. Didn't put in a bid for Haskins because I liked Vidal better. I'll put in a blind bid for next week, but could have had him at no cost.

If he had done this last year, they wouldn't have drafted Hampton.

At best he can work himself into maybe 30-40% of the RB touches.

But everyone should enjoy what they can of him this next month.

Kimani Vidal had 18 rushes for 124 yards in the Chargers’ Week 6 win against the Dolphins, adding three catches for 14 yards and a touchdown.

Contrary to pre-game reports, Vidal started the game and operated as the Chargers’ unquestioned RB1 throughout with Omarion Hampton (ankle) on injured reserve. Hassan Haskins, meanwhile, saw just six carries for 14 yards, utilized mostly as a breather back behind Vidal. Vidal logged a pass route on 23 of the Chargers’ 39 drop backs on the day — solid usage for any running back, much less a guy making his first NFL start. Vidal should be considered a locked-in RB2 option in Week 7 against a Colts defense that’s quietly struggled against the run.

Dynasty sell high or hold? i get the feeling he is one of those guys that no matter how well he does this year, that he will never be the #1next year on the Chargers and will at best share work with him likely receiving < 50% though hampton prolly wont be 100% to start so he could have a shot to start. i don't believe he is still on his rookie contract since he was cut. i think he's on a one year deal. that does open things up.

I'm definitely going to wait and see what he does against non-Dolphin opponents before taking a victory lap in dynasty. If this were to continue, we're talking about a high end handcuff that would still get touches behind Hampton, right? I don't think Najee is much of a threat to walk in and reclaim the role he was supposed to have at the start of 2026 (or even any part of 2026).

Waldman used to rave about this guy last year. I picked him up and… nothing. I haven’t seen the game. But I take it there’s something there.

I wasted a late 3rd rookie pick in '24 over the Vidal hype, and I definitely viewed Matt as the ringleader. The fact that he was all over Bill probably contributed to my willingness to give Vidal another shot with this opportunity. It did come at the expense of another Waldman favorite, Tahj Brooks (probably a bigger '25 endorsement than Bill if the podcasts are indicative of his rankings), but I'll try to slip Brooks back on to my roster when they start giving him some of Perine's touches.

It was a a pretty rough spell of flag planting on late round/undrafted RBs, but considering that the hit rate is inherently low, I'd say he's riding a bit of a heater right now.

Trying not to make this an Assistant Coach post, so I'll keep it to one simple question without any details. For redraft, do you think Vidal is worth using the #1 waiver priority?

I'm shopping him for a 2nd. I'm a fan of the player and drafted him last year, but I added him for free off waivers last week. Pretty set at RB so I'm willing to cash out.

I am in a rebuild but somehow 4-2 (have hampton) someone wanted my 1st for Vidal which even makes it funnier , I traded away Javonte Williams to the same team 2 weeks ago for 1st

Really liked what I saw from him and he can catch too. You can tell he is very savvy and is learning on the fly. Saw him turn to his back several times on the way down to the ground like he’s coached to do to. He got his stiff arm chopped down on one run then saw him hand fighting down the sideline to avoid that same counter from the defender.
