RB-M.Bennett -- the last " possible " starter type (1 Viewer)

with all the Rb's one by one signing..

I think M.Bennett is the last " possible starter " or possible sleeper if in the right spot and he stays healthy and the stars line up . LOL .

has anyone heard any rumors as to where he might land

i had heard Arizona and G.B were his first choices.. well. i dont see either happening now ..

which leaves him /????

S.O.L.

yea very true ..

most likely a high upside # 2 somewhere ... i would assume

i do think the guy has some talent .. too much to be left totally without a sniff of a job somewhere

i never really thought about that possible destination ..

coudl be .. useless to fantasy leageues . but coudl be a good fit in real football

Indy?! Hmm........

Edited to add: Bennett/Rhodes/Mungro/Maroney RBBC, at least for 2006?

I have been saying this the past couple of years, but I think he ends up on the Jets...oooh, I would have to change the color of my signature....beware, he could be "deadly"...LOL

i'm a Jet fan and not crazy about Michael Bennett.. but I can see it..they've done dumber things

For some reason, I see Bennett landing in San Francisco this season. I can't imagine they'll continue letting Barlow pretty much committing extortion on the franchise because of his bad play and I also just can't see them putting faith into Frank Gore, who's knees are probably about as durable as if they were being held together by duct tape and chewed gum.

I cannot possibly understand how that would begin to be a good fit. The Niners have far from a dominant o-line and Bennett isn't really the grind through the d-line kinda guy.

Not to mention in the second half of the season the 'Niners typically play on a muddy field that isn't overly condusive to speed RB's.

St. Louis? Just had that thought, as didn't the Rams release Arlen Harris this spring? With Faulk having a LOT of mileage on the tires, I wonder if Linehan would petition for Bennett....a track star to run on turf? I don't know what type of relationship Bennett had with Linehan while both were in Minnesota, but it's at least a thought.

What other options are out there? Ron Dayne? Please.....

LenDale White? Would probably be a reach at #6 (although they could trade down, Rams would be an ideal partner since AJ Hawk could be available at #6 and Lendale White at #11)

Jamal Lewis? Too risky combined with a poor season last year.

I don't think Faulk would particularly like being #3 on the depth chart. Plus, the Rams have other needs then signing a #2/3 RB. Bennett would probably command too much for what he'd produce for the Rams.

Who is the #3 now? Did Harris sign with an other team? I know he is just the number three RB with no hope of starting unless Both Jackson & Faulk get hurt.

How about...Barlow and Gore? What's the problem with that combo?

Besides the fact that Barlow sucks and Gore is injury prone, nothing.

I don't think Barlow/Gore/Hicks will strike fear into anyone but based on quotes coming out of SF the running game doesn't seem to be a priority at the moment.

There's plenty to fix in SF, until the OL improves not much else is going to matter imo.

They're no Holmes/LJ combo but they're not terrible.

I'm guessing that the 49ers brass are probably praying to whatever deity they believe in that D'Brick somehow falls to them at #4. They better, because I think there's no earthly way that will happen in real life.

They're not good either.

You're right-they're average. Which is what Bennett is-at best. If the Niners upgrade their line Barlow and Gore will only improve.

That's just not going to happen.

Anybody consider Bennett ending up in NE? Think about it. He could be a very Belichickian signing - a free agent with little leverage. If he signed an incentive-laden deal he could be tossed into the mix with Dillon & KFaulk. As a Pats fan it doesn't exactly get my juices flowing but it would seem to fit the Belichick/Pioli mold.

Belichick usually goes for players with football skills.

Why is he the " the last possible starter type"? Aren't N. Davenport, S. Davis, A. Thomas, and M. Morris available? R. Williams may even be attainable pending a decisoin on his suspension. Most, if not all, would be prefereable to Bennett.

I thought that too ..... and then there was Duane Starks .....

JAX

SF

IND

CAR

GB

OAK

CLE

PIT

NE

None as a feature back, unless, of course, injuries make him one.
no to Jax, they have PearmanSF > Maybe, a slight upgrade

IND > Maybe, they def have a HUGE hole to fill

CAR > doubtful, but if Foster tweaks his pinkie toe, its possible

GB > Favre said get active, maybe this is their definition.

Oak > nah, they'll go for a much cheaper backup

CLE > Strong possibility. THey will most likely move Suggs and replace with a scat back. Much cheaper than the draft.

Pit > No way, they already have a olympic speed guy

NE > Interesting...

 , although I was thinking more along the lines of "2A" and "2B". Faulk deserves his props, but a track star on turf would be the perfect change of pace to Jackson and Faulk, IMHO....if Bennett would swallow his pride and be willing to settle for that type of limited duty.

I just hope he doesn't end up on the Colts.

I don't have much faith in Bennett.
To put it mildly (on both counts). He's a one-trick pony (that trick being speed). No thanks.

I am still trying to figure out why you put the word "possible" inside quotation marks.

Until I figure that one out I cannot properly address your question.

Vikings :: RB

RB M.Bennett Visits New Orleans

Sean Jenson, St. Paul Pioneer Press - [Full Article]

RB Michael Bennett made his first free-agent visit, arriving in New Orleans on Wednesday. Bennett will visit with the Saints then decide where to go next. Bennett wasn't sure where he is going next. But he said the Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins have expressed interest.
Of course, Carolina and Miami would be back-up roles. New Orleans would also be a similar situation unless Duece is not healthy or recovered from his injury. I find INDY the most interesting and the greatest upside for him. I think Bennett would be an upgrade over Rhodes and Bennett's speed would be a new wrinkle in INDY's offensive attack. Something to think about at least...
