RB Match ups to exploit/avoid Week 6 (1 Viewer)

 MoP for your hard work on this thread each week.

Like someone else, you confirmed my gut feeling. In my case, I'm going to go with TJones and TBell over Tiki this week. I'm not comfortable sitting Tiki, but the other two matchups are too good to pass up.

Great post as always Ministry... no need to subscribe to FBG's with quality analysis like this for free - ool!

Any thoughts on the Parker ranking? KC is small and fast. They can be pushed around and a cut-back runner like parker can use their agressiveness against them. Tatum Bell had a very nice YPC against them. So will parker.
Have you watched the Steelers offense this season? He's a starter in 8-10+ team leagues where you must start 2RB for sure. I just don't see him exploding against KC. KC is yielding around 14 points a week to the opposition RB...you can check that out on Gray's SOS(HINT HINT)...are you trying to push him to top5 status this week? He will do OK but if Rothy keeps struggling the lanes are not going to open up.
I like Parker this week. I think the Steelers will dominate in the trenches. Sorry, my only post in any of these weekly threads is to disagree. These are excellent write up MoP. Thanks for the good reads.
Agreed on the great post MoP and also on the Steelers dominating this week. I have LJ, and I think this is going to be a mauling on both sides. Lock of the week, no matter what the line. Hope I'm wrong - it's happened before ;)
Judge:See my post in your "benching LJ" thread. The Steelers defense is not healthy this week. LJ could put up surprisingly good numbers.

Hey guys,

First time reader here. I have a little RB dilemma in a league where I picked up an abandoned team which I have to rebuild from the waiver wire and through trades. I managed to trade for DeShaun Foster and pick up Ron Dayne from waivers early in the season, so the cupboard for this weekend looks like this:

Kevin Jones

LaMont Jordan

DeShaun Foster

Ron Dayne

Maurice Morris

Reuben Droughns (BYE)

The closest thing to a RB on the wire is Kevan Barlow and I'm carrying two QBs, three WRs, one TE/K/D each...so not much wiggle room there. Listen, I know this roster is brutal, but I have to make due and start two guys.

Here are my thoughts:

As a full disclosure, I'm a Rams fan so I know all about Mike Martz's use of RB, or lack thereof. I also know Blaine Saipaia, who they have starting at guard...this is not a good thing, considering their OL is decimated across the board while the Bills get Takeo Spikes back. Still, I have KJ tentatively penciled in as one of my RBs.

Jordan - Not optimistic about him at all. I think Denver's defense is absolutely brutal, and I don't see how Oakland will not fall behind in this game...which hurts me, because my opponent is starting Tatum Bell at RB. Denver has very athletic linebackers and they have blitzed very little this year, so I don't even see possibilities for Jordan in the passing game. Throw in the looming timeshare with Justin Fargas and this is one I want to stay away from.

Foster - Was my other starting back, until I snuck Morris off waivers for the week. Call me crazy, but I think Baltimore's D is a little overrated...they've played a weak schedule which really inflated their stats. Their offense sucks and could give Carolina a short field on occasion. Foster can grind but has a big play dimension, and at least will get most of the carries in that offense.

Dayne - Just not much of a body of work in Houston to base this on. Coming off a bye week is good in my book, and Dayne had a good game against the Cowboys when with the Broncos last season. For whatever reason, I have reservations about starting him yet. Which is kind of hypocritical because I am thinking about giving a last minute start to...

Maurice Morris. Unfortunately, I was traveling during the Sunday night game against Chicago and have little to base this decision on. Does he play when Seattle goes to one back? On the goalline? As a Rams fan, I know about the Rams run defense and their propensity to open cutback lanes, and am not happy to see Seattle come off a bye before this game. That being said, plenty of variables. Womack out, Jones still recovering from the ankle, first game back for Jerramy Stevens. And the fact that I have not really seen much of this guy...the saving grace is that if the guy blows, at least the Rams should be winning and I could get over this quicker. But really, that should be the last resort.

At the moment, Jones and Foster will start. I'm leaning towards getting Morris on the field, although it will tick off the guys who have practiced with my team all week. Should I sit KJ, or Foster? Quick show of hands, please...thanks in advance!

This is a toughie. I probably gamble on Kevin Jones and Maurice Morris.

Thanks for the reply...looks like not too many people wanted to take this one on. I am leaning the same way, based more on the FFP given up by those two defenses than being sold on the scoring potential of KJ and MM. Morris has traditionally done little against STL in particular, and Detroit did nothing on the ground against Buffalo in the preseason fielding pretty much the same line. If anybody else has any insight, please feel free to chime in. Thanks.

I have a Jones issue myself. I have both Tomas Jones and Kevin Jones to compliment LT. We don't have flex option (nor PPR) so I can only play one of the two. You have Tomas Jones ranked higher than Kevin, and I can understand why with the injury issues coming out of Detroit. BUT, how much will Benson eat into Tomas' work load. If...WHEN Chicago gets a huge lead, how much will Tomas actually be used. I see the same problem with LT. If I'm starting LT and TJ, I'm dreading the fact that I might only get about 2+ quarters of football out of these guys. :(

SF/SD will be closer than many assume. You have to assume you get a good day from your starters.

I certainly hope so. Do you suppose Antonio Bryant is going to keep the game close? I'm not sure how much running room Gore is going to have.

I wish my crystal ball were that good. I just know when there is a heavy favorite in an interconference game...many times the game ends up being closer than many think.

I think the MBIII and Turners of the world could be ranked ahead of some of the starters. I look at Edge's matchup against the Bears and his O Line and wonder if any of your listed backups might be a better play...

Parker had a big game. I think he's safely a must start every week now.

I think it will depend on the match up still, but he looked great today. IN 12 team leagues...even 8 and 10 team leagues he will usually be a top15-20 on most cheatsheets every week. Parker is towards the top of the preseason RB2s. But Kevin Jones, Warrick Dunn, Travis Henry...this was the week for a lot of RB2.
