RB Matt Breida - Giants RB (7 Viewers)

thread rename @mcintyre1

Matt Breida rushed three times for -6 yards in the Giants' Week 6 win over the Ravens, adding two receptions for 17 additional yards.

Breida continues to see limited work in the Giants' backfield but offers virtually no fantasy upside. Breida has just four receptions on the season and is averaging 2.9 YPC. He can be kept on the waiver wire and would be hard to trust even if Saquon Barkely were to miss time.

The Athletic's Charlotte Carroll believes Matt Breida is the "safe No. 2 option" behind Saquon Barkley this season.

Fantasy drafters have been quick to draft rookie fifth-round pick Eric Gray this offseason, but Carroll believes Breida has the inside edge to retain his role as the RB2 in the Giants' offense. Breida, 28, totaled 338 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown last season and has worked with head coach Brian Daboll dating back to their time in Buffalo. While Breida's experience will work to his advantage early on, he may need to fight off Gray in training camp as he becomes more familiar with the system and proves he's ready for more looks.

Anybody claiming him? Just hard to see him doing much....28 year old journeyman, 190 lbs, hasn't received a full workload in years, not a great receiver outta the backfield, etc.

Thinking about claiming him in a couple of leagues where I am decimated with injuries, and stashing him on the bench to see what shakes out Thursday evening against SF....just in case he surprises. Can always drop him after the game to add a defense or something.

Obviously hate the matchup this week but a lead back for cheap/free off waivers rn could be a godsend for some teams. After this week it’s SEA and MIA which should be much better matchups. He slipped through in one league and I got him free, some teams are really hurting so I’ll let him hang out on my bench.

I think Breida is going to share a lot more with Brightwell (and possibly Gray) than many think. Buyer beware.
Plus, Barkley could play is what I'm reading.
I think that’s just gamesmanship trying to have the Niners prepare for Barkley, but he may not be far off.
I’m still unsure how this works when people say this.

Prepare for Barkley all week.

An hour before the game he’s declared out.

****… we forgot to prepare for Breida!!!!

Breida changes the whole offense!! (Sort of the same way as if they played the game in quicksand)

Saquon out.

The Niners spent all that time practicing as if he were playing.

Now they are going to have to stay up late and prepare for Breida until the wee hours of the night.

Checkmate Daboll.

Like the prepare for breida concept is very funny but realistically the alternative to their prepping for saquon is spend the entire week coming up with exotic blitz packages and coverages to torment Daniel Jones

Putting him in over Herbert in a why not for one week option
I just can’t bring myself to do it.

It feels so bad. But then again…. Why did I even sprinkle the FAAB on him if I wasn’t going to use him.

I literally have the same decision between Breida and Herbert. And a few other meandering options.

REVENGE GAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Forced to start in a few leagues not feeling great about it

I dream about leagues where I could start Herbert over the options I have..............

I need the most mediocre of mediocre running back performances tonight to win a tough matchup.

And I couldn’t feel any less confident having Breida in my lineup.

Vegas/Draftkings actually have him propped up decently.

All odds from DraftKings Sportsbook.

  • Rushing Yards: 48.5 (Over -115/Under -115)
  • Longest Rush: 13.5 (Over -105/Under -125)
  • Longest Reception: 8.5 (Over -130/Under +100)
  • Receiving Yards: 13.5 (Over -120/Under -110)
  • Receptions: 2.5 (Over -105/Under -120)
  • Rush/Rec. Yards: 66.5 (Over -115/Under -115)
  • Anytime Touchdown Scorer: +135

I’m just here to celebrate the man, the myth, the legend, Matt Breida.

For leading me to a Monday night victory.

And judging by no responses in this thread. I’m the only manager who started him.

14 carries for 30 yards.............. tells me all I need to know. I dropped him earlier in the week in a 12 teamer/standard, even though I have Barkley there too.
Breida won't be clogging my roster ever again.

When is Saquon coming back???????

*SIGNED*, concerned Saquon owner.

:wall:

:bye: Desperation flex for me. I won too.
I had to start him at RB2. Thank goodness I had Josh Allen, Kyren, AJ Brown and Dallas D staking me a 90 point lead going into the game.
That’s awesome.

I needed 4 from Breida in PPR due to RB injuries and I was not confident at all going into the game. Surprisingly it was his catches that got me there.

Decent enough showing to pull off the win.

Sometimes in fantasy you just gotta get lucky.

Debating flexing him in over Najee Harris. My concern is if the game gets away from them in a hurry and they abandon the run. It's .5PPR tho, but not sure if he has the potential to make it up in receptions if they stop running.

Picked him up to play defense against my opponent (Barkley) and could start him over Taylor. I probably should, but Breida hasn't exactly shown anything, so I'll just keep Taylor in knowing I'll most certainly get less than 10 points out of him.

Think he's going to get a lot of cheap PPR points today in catchup mode.

I would bet your life on it.

5 for 48 in just receptions last week is decent even in 0.5 ppr when comparing to what Najee has been doing lately. Any rushing stuff would help, they’ll likely be throwing some checkdowns to him.
