RB Ollie Gordon II, MIA (1 Viewer)

Ollie Gordon II, the talented running back from Oklahoma State, is generating quite a buzz as a 2025 NFL Draft prospect. Let’s dive into his scouting report:

  • Height: 6’2"
  • Weight: 215 pounds
  • Position: Running Back
  • School: Oklahoma State
  • Current Year: Junior
Gordon’s journey from relative obscurity to stardom has been remarkable. In the 2023 season, he had a dominant performance, accumulating 1,732 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on 285 carries, averaging over six yards per attempt. He also caught 39 passes for 330 yards and an additional score, totaling over 2,000 yards from scrimmage. His efforts earned him the 2023 Doak Walker Award, given to the nation’s best RB, as well as the title of reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and unanimous All-American1.

Now, let’s explore Gordon’s strengths as an RB prospect:

  • Unique Prototype Runner: Gordon boasts a tall, wiry frame with impressive lean mass and stride freedom. His long-strider range and short-area malleability set him apart.
  • Agile and Adaptable: He’s a supremely agile athlete with a full toolbox of moves. His open-field creativity, quick footwork, and vision allow him to adjust positioning and exploit creases.
  • Explosiveness: Once he spots a lane, Gordon can throttle up and attack open seams, disrupting tackling angles with his bend and sudden cuts.
As of now, Gordon is considered a mid-to-late first-round prospect, although the deflated positional value of running backs might influence his draft position. Keep an eye on this exciting talent as the 2025 NFL Draft approaches! 🏈🔥

Jeanty is gaining a lot of steam and Gordon just got a DUI. It matters. So as I see it, not in any particular order, you have Jeanty, Gordon, Henderson, and Judkins. People are suffering from prospect fatigue with Henderson, but after he got healthy last year he showed why he was such a good DEVY prospect. As a buckeye fan I'm telling you that Henderson is the starter and that isn't going to change. Sharing the backfield with Judkins will help both players entering the draft. I like both Henderson and Judkins, which I have shares of both in DEVY. As for Gordon, I like him as well, but this DUI will probably affect his draft capital. I have him on a DEVY team of mine, so I am hoping for the best.

Elite Drafters
Ollie Gordon II

146 yards, 31 touches, 3 TDs

A true workhorse RB1 at 6’2 225 lbs, Gordon is one of the top RBs in the nation. He is in the conversation for RB1 of 2025 class.

Here he is with a strong run to kick off his junior season.

Hows the RB class next yr? I remember when Henderson was the next coming but that seemed to die out
Next year's RB draft is head and shoulders above 2024 with TreVeyeon Henderson, Quinshon Judkins, Ashton Jeanty, Ollie Gordon, Nicholas Singleton, Omarion Hampton, Trevor Etienne, Devin Neal, Raheim Sanders, Donovan Edwards, Jordan James, and Jayden Ott. Obviously not all of these will pan out, but hopefully you get what I mean.

Ollie Gordon had 156 yards (10.4 YPC) & 3 rushing TD’s vs Texas Tech last week.

Colorado defense gave up 331 YARDS (!!) rushing to KANSAS last week.

Kasey Dunn studied that film & called 22 passes & 3 runs… THREE!!

Fire him at halftime.

More RB depth for the ‘25 draft class, as last year’s Doak Walker winner officially declares…

Ollie Gordon (6’2”, 225 lbs) has had a bit of a down season, but his vision, balance and toughness are NFL ready ✅

🎥: Here’s 2 minutes of some of his best plays of the season 👇

Ollie Gordon has those Derrick Henry proportions where his legs are two sizes bigger than his torso, and somehow that gene just makes people into really good running backs.

Matt Anderson
Oklahoma St. RB Ollie Gordon III has some sneaky second-level speed.

He's not the fastest guy, but he’s quicker than you’d think.

Give him the ball in space or some open lanes, and he'll make plays.

Also, great downfield block by #5 here —love to see that from a WR!

What lead to Ollie Gordon’s “down year”

Likely stacked boxes, bad offensive line, poor passing offense, and all of the focus on him?

Still a day 2 prospect grade for me and would’ve been RB1 last year.

@JustinApod for the tape 🔥

Obvious traits that stand out on Ollie Gordon’s film:

- Vision
- Power/Size
- Contact balance
- Lateral ability at size
- Forcing missed tackles

6’2 220+ pounds and moves very smooth laterally for his size.

Big senior bowl riser incoming in my eyes.

I have Gordon in a devy league and watched a couple games this year. I just wasn't impressed. 100% he was facing stacked boxes, but I question his vison now. He was just sort of running into the back of the lineman and then going down.

I still believe in his talent. Just can't say he's a top 5 back in this draft anymore.

2024 was a diappointment. It's almost as if he couldn't see the field. His performance at the combine is going to be very important to Gordon's draft status to see if he can change the mind of GMs that 2024 was an anomoly.

It appears he suffered multiple injuries during the season.

Another thing that may have contributed to his disappointing season is mediocre coaching. OK St was expected to compete for the conference title and 🙂 the bed.

Gundy is a weird guy to handicap. He generally exceeds expectations when much isn’t expected from his team. Then he disappoints when the expectations are high.

Another Isaiah Spiller?
That's about what I see

ETA: Seeing early rookie ranks where he's ahead of Sampson or Skattebo, or even Neal is wild to me. Not to mention the knucklehead factor Gordon brings.

Gordon should test out much better than Spiller, but I understand the comparison.

Gordon had an incredible Sophomore season in 2023, piling up more than 2,000 yards and 22 TDs. He averaged better than 6 yards per carry and proved competent in the passing game, hauling in 39 receptions.

There is no denying Gordon's 2024 season was a serious disappointment, and I think you may be right about the "knucklehead factor".

I think a good comparison may be Braelon Allen, and like Allen, I could foresee Gordon being a valuable NFL backup with some starting potential.

Like I believe I said earlier, the combine is going to be paramount for Gordon, both in the drills and the interviews. His draft capital life depends on it. As for the interviews, teams probably have a negative feeling about him going into them. He hasn’t done anything to alleviate those fears IMO.

Chuba Hubbard was a guy that had a lousy season at Ok. St. before the draft, slipped in the draft, and has come back to have a nice career. Don't forget his injuries the year he left for the NFL.

Offensive line? It was ranked 102nd in team run-blocking grade the year he won the Doak!?!?

Tex

He will go somewhere in the second round of 1QB rookie drafts. If he tears up the combine maybe earlier second, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. If he flops the combine he may go undrafted in the NFL and would probably drop to the third round of rookie drafts.

Anyone know if there is a reason for the pretty substantial decrease in stats this year?
Kid played hurt with zero blocking. He'd be hit as he takes the handoff or have three people covering him on a screen.
I don't know how ya judge that.
Not good but do you hold it against him?

When he is hot he gives off a man amongst boys vibe. He played a high level of competition in college and to give that feeling is significant.

I don't like the negativity as it often goes way too far. I've watched how many games in my life and never seen a RB blamed over n over for being hit in the backfield like this kid.

There's a video where three times he has three defenders on him on a screen. Guy wrote he's gotta make a play. Really?

I appreciate that he got up every time and put his hard hat back on and got to work.

He's spent time with Barry and his son. He has a 2k yard season.

Why does he have to be a finished product? Every other position in the draft, players can develop but not RB?

He's shown whatever you want to see including looking better than Stevenson and Chuba. He could possibly be special. He could be a backup.

I hope this kid continues to get negativity thrown his way, falls to UDFA, and takes over the league like Priest Holmes. It's all way too harsh and way too much and I'll back the kid that kept getting up 💯
Idk off the field but his attitude on the field is excellent. I've seen him bark at OL. Why shouldn't he? I watched NPF put out a red carpet for DL and Pollard just get smashed. I might have liked Pollard barking at him. If the guy takes twenty unnecessary hits and barks once then clearly runs his hardest to the very same spot; I just don't judge that as a negative.
People are. No one is saying how he jumps up n down with the OL after a TD.
Maybe that's his way. I can roll with that and I can't imagine teams penalizing him for it either.
What was there 80 celebrations and 10 barks? Psssh non issue

I can't fault a glass is half full mentality. Keep up the good vibes.

I have nothing to say about Gordon but when I see a running back do that in the NFL instead of doing his patented dance that he's just gotta show everybody, I get the feels. I love when those guys slap the OL In the shoulder pad (not head, fellas!) and gather everybody together like it's everybody's touchdown.

I'll never forget after another of my pump celebrations in hockey the coach complimenting a different guy about how he celebrated after one of the next goals we scored. I learned something. Mr. Ba__. Point to the guy who passed the puck to you and go hug and congratulate each other. He didn't even have to say (but I heard it) none of this peacock stuff. Took it to heart just hearing it at the age of fifteen or sixteen. I still occasionally celebrated with a pump when excited (I'm excitable), but would almost always pause and gather everybody after that. Fist bumps and helmet knocks galore (gentle kind).

He was on Sirius today.
He rocked the interview.
Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller asked him Qs and ...idk if he's training to interview and ready for them or what, but ooh I loved the responses.
His favorite quality? Power? Speed? Something? Vision? Vision so he can pickup the LBs and recognize blitzes and....explanation...also when he runs he knows he can kick it outside if he sees this n that.
Jim Miller sensed it and yep he was a QB and WR in high school so that's why he's seeing the field so well presnap.

Kirwan again said how they loved him at the senior bowl and look forward to him at the combine. How much do you weigh now, you were 235? 220. Losing for the Combine? Yep.
Hopes to be 4.4 but expected to be 4.5. Kirwan said that's plenty fast for a guy with his power.
Models game after Saquan and Henry.
Strength coach/trainer...does he skip days? I know you don't skip days, do you? No and if you met my strength coach you wouldn't either :-)

Never considered the portal, too much camaraderie and family and couldn't leave guys behind. Didn't even enter his mind. I think he mentioned some team moms in there too.

His draft stock is about to rise.
Remember everyone is sheep predraft.
He hit a homerun in the interview on a very popular show that coaches and GMs listen to so it's definitely going up.
Idk how much but...I find it fun to pay attention to some writers and radio hosts after things like this.

I think Kirwan said best back in 2023, best back at the Senior Bowl, there's a lot to like about this kid
