RB Rico Dowdle, CAR (1 Viewer)

Sounds like it's Rico's rock again this weekend!
You reading somewhere that Hubbard is out?
Yeah, he's not practicing again today apparently which is not a good sign.
Officially ruled out now.

Who is starting Rico this weekend?
Starting him in Shark Pool League UNO for sure and, probably starting him over Rhamondre in my home league.
I've got him in DOS. when Maurile's ranking is fixed for Hubbard being out, he's going to come in around RB13 in consensus.

I was shocked and ecstatic last week, he won my week and I hoped he'd get another full load again this week. Now it's here it just feels...too perfect? Opponent is league worst against the run? Check. Former team and all the motivation in the world? Check. Has to go wrong right :ROFLMAO:

Apparently CAR a little banged up on the O line. Hopefully they can still take advantage of the matchup.

Maurile jumped him to RB4 :jawdrop:

whoa, I should probably consider starting Dowdle over Breece Hall and Quinshon Judkins. Have Breece Hall in my starting lineup for now.

I dont own any Chubba shares. Had one and moved it. Don't own any Rico shares. So I can speak from the heart. I like Chubba. Dudes a tough little dude. It's just that it's not like Rico had a decent game. He had an epic game. Sorry Chubba fans, I just don't see any scenario where Rico is not a big part of the game plan moving forward. Imo

Started Dowdle over Breece Hall. PPR league. Other starting RBs are Achane (keeper) and Bijan Robinson. This was an auction draft with 3 keepers.

This guy just made himself MILLIONS of $$$$$ over the last 2 games. Why couldn't he do this in Dallas??? Was Dallas's run blocking that crappy?

I wonder what Hubbard is thinking right now,lol

I think this is a combo of home cooking, bad rush defenses, talent, and game scripts. The run was nice but things are going to get complicated. Panthers maybe consider a Hubbard trade but then again a healthy stable w a 3-3 record is a nice asset. Definitely makes the Barkley frustration much more tolerable

Dallas never used him as a workhorse. They did try to resign him, but I guess they did not try hard enough.

No one is trading for Hubbard. He isn't the type of back you trade for after he just signed an extention. You have to be elite to do that. Hubbard is just good.

Dowdle's 230-plus yards in consecutive games put him in the company of Jim Brown (Browns), Walter Payton (Bears), Marshall Faulk (Rams), Deuce McAllister (Saints), Josh Gordon (Browns) and Le'Veon Bell (Steelers). This from a back who had 33 touches, 103 yards and one touchdown in the first four games.

Rico Dowdle rushed 30 times for 183 yards in the Panthers’ Week 6 win over the Cowboys, adding four catches for 56 yards and a touchdown on five targets.

Dowdle became the first player with 230 yards from scrimmage in back-to-back games since Le’Veon Bell in 2014. And they say that waiver wire season saviors are dead. Dowdle was an avalanche in this game, pounding the Cowboys with positive runs that weren’t necessarily explosive so much as they were inevitable. His long run was just 15 yards — but he averaged 0.2 EPA per play and had a 67 percent success rate while dominating the backfield carries. The bad news is that this is bound to come back to Earth at least a little. And the good news is: The Jets in Week 7 might not be Earth just yet.

Not taking anything away from Dowdle, actually the exact opposite. Just need to say I genuinely think this would be the case for a few RBs in the league who are currently underrated. Certain backs legitimately get BETTER the more touches they get. I think not enough emphasis is given to how important getting in a consistent rhythm is for a RB. Imagine QBs trying to play a game where they are getting rotated in and out every 2-3 plays. I understand the wear and tear angle and needing to split the loads a bit, but it should be between drives IMO, and splits should be closer to 70/30 than 50/50 unless a defense is obviously gassed and it stops mattering as much.

It will be difficult for Hubbard to get his job back.
He's good, but benefited from facing 2 bad defenses. Vidal just ran for 124 vs Miami.

And Breece ran for over 100 on 14 carries last week against Dallas. I’m ticked as a Chuba owner (dynasty and couldn’t pry Dowdle away) because these three weeks (Jets next week) were going to be goldmines.
This is what has been most galling for Chuba owners.

MIA/DAL have combined to give up 364/1864/12 in 12 games on the ground. At the same time, Dowdle has averaged 32 touches/game while Chuba has been out.

This also reminds me of Zack Moss who in 2023 had a 3 game stretch filling in for Jonathan Taylor where he went for 72/357/2 on the ground adding 4/53/1 receiving.

If they played Denver this week,we wouldn't be talking about Rico Today
Maybe. But they didn't. They played Dallas and he had 34 touches for 239 yards. A week after having 26 touches for 234 yards. Once again, that also wasn't against Denver. Unless it was prime Adrian Peterson coming back, not giving this guy a big portion of the game plan after how he has performed would be a criminal offense in 72 nations. Imo

I don't understand your point. He also isn't playing them next week or the week after. I don't know when Hubbard is back but at least the next two weeks look good for Rico.
Exactly, and Denver beat the absolute horrific Jets by 2. I don't understand what the point of the comment is. Denver is a fraud, they almost lost to the 2 worst teams in the league, Titans & Jets.

> I couldn't agree with you more! A perfect example is in Seattle. I foolishly believe Walker will take one to the house and get 15+ touches per game only to be disappointed that it's a 50-50 split in a backfield lucky to get 100 yards on the ground. Great D-terrible scheme on offense. It's working now for the team record wise and they might be in the playoffs but one and done there.

I don't know what will be the end result with Dowdle going forward but he is RB2 in my lineup until it's determined what they plan to do with 2 very good RB's.

Hubbard owners --> any worries this turns into RBBC when Hubbard returns?
I don't see how it doesn't. Hubbard is a nice back but he's not some elite talent that the team is built around. He stepped up last year and got a payday but that doesn't mean it's his backfield. Things change. Not saying that Hubbard will go on the bench, because he won't but I don't see Hubbard maintaining his 2:1 carry advantage he had to start the season. I definitely think there will be a split to start and the coach will likely see who's running better and act accordingly. that's what I would do.
