RB Rico Dowdle, CAR (1 Viewer)

Genie's out of the bottle here. Just like with Skattebo/Tracy, there's no going back now. Just a matter of how much change in opportunity share is to come once Chubbard returns.

Panthers HC Dave Canales said “we’ll see” when asked if Rico Dowdle earned the right to be the team’s starting RB going forward.

As someone who picked up Dowdle, I'd like to think so, but think it's wishful thinking.

Hubbard has been solid for a while now. They like him. Think this becomes an annoying RBBC.

Hubbard owners --> any worries this turns into RBBC when Hubbard returns?
I don't see how it doesn't. Hubbard is a nice back but he's not some elite talent that the team is built around. He stepped up last year and got a payday but that doesn't mean it's his backfield. Things change. Not saying that Hubbard will go on the bench, because he won't but I don't see Hubbard maintaining his 2:1 carry advantage he had to start the season. I definitely think there will be a split to start and the coach will likely see who's running better and act accordingly. that's what I would do.
That would be my guess. Hubbard did really step up in a very lackluster offense last year and got paid. He earned the payday but he also benefited from having no competition whatsoever after Miles Sanders faded out again and Brooks got hurt. Dowdle is considerable competition, so it may make sense for Canales to use both as long as they're healthy and productive. Bummed as a Hubbard owner, but the reality is that things can change quickly.

So where are we at here? Best case 50/50 split, possibly 60/40 leaning Rico if Chuba isn't making it happen after a few games? Is the time to sell high on him right now if you can get a true RB1 for him? Or is he just too explosive that even a 50/50 split + Chuba possibly having a lingering injury enough to keep him? Would you deal him for say, Judkins?

I dont know who or what a true RB 1 is or who would make that move.

I just dont see how this goes back in the bottle until he flops.

I suppose I mean a workhorse type of guy, like Judkins (albeit he is in a crap offense). The Judkins owner may bite on Dowdle.

And didn't they pay Hubbard a ton last year? IMO if he is healthy, we are looking at 50/50 best case scenario no?

They did but they're winning with Dowdle. Chubba seems to me the change of pace type on steroids. He may be better without the full load.

I see 60/40 Dowdle as long as he's running like he is.

I doubt you would get good value if you try to sell him now. Everyone knows Chubba is coming back and will bake a split into his value. His value will get better if he comes out on a favorable side of the split.

there are like 3 backfields in the nfl that aren’t a split (assuming one RB isn’t injured)

Rico was getting RZ touches before Hubbard got hurt, blew the f up when Hubbard went out, and Hubbard could still not make it back from the injury any time soon.

Even if Hubbard comes back full strength this weekend, I’m still starting Rico as my RB2. Now, my other choices are dog $hit, but still…

Have a trade offer for Judkins straight up in a redraft .5ppr league.
You have to take that. When a ridiculous offer comes your way don't hesitate.
