Michel could be a league winner next week against Baltimore.
True.....or Cam Akers could miraculously return to ruin his chance to shine.

I think they just activated Cam to get him his pension - Id be shocked if he played....and if he did no chance he gets more than a token few carries....Michel is the workhouse back for the immediate future.True.....or Cam Akers could miraculously return to ruin his chance to shine.
I drafted Henderson and picked up Michel as a handcuff. Henderson’s injury didn’t look good and wouldn’t be surprised if he misses next week. Michel could be a league winner next week against Baltimore.
UFA.He ran so hard and angry. Saved the game for the Rams with Stafford out to lunch.
What's his contact situation next year?
Indeed it is. You can thank us music nerds -- specifically, krista4 -- for that one.Cry emoji reaction is the new laugh emoji reaction.
Ah I was going to laugh at your comment and then postCry emoji reaction is the new laugh emoji reaction.
but I couldn't find the laugh emoticon. Oh no. That's a political subforum thing. They're to blame. Each side was constantly mock-liking the other with mock laughter, and Joe had had it.Thanks rockaction for shedding light on the missing laugh emoji

I was talking about the cry emoji being the new laugh emoji. k4 started that in a music thread.
Has leapfrogged Gibson on my depth chart, and might even overtake Aaron Jones.
K4 is a delightful human, and should have her own emoji.Oh no. That's a political subforum thing. They're to blame. Each side was constantly mock-liking the other with mock laughter, and Joe had had it.

Yes, I was referencing only the reaction emojis in the on-post shortcut.Aha thanks for catching me up without the pain of having to actually be there.
I did notice the subset of emoticons that I think HSG was maybe referring to. There is a larger set of options still available through other means.
- it's just not passive-aggressive enough for some folks, I guess. I dunno - I've posted like, one time in the politics forum. Your not a very opinionated person so you probably have nothing to addYes, I was referencing only the reaction emojis in the on-post shortcut.

I'm sure they would like to get Akers some work before the playoffs. I'd be surprised if it is anything more than just a few touches this week. And then ramped up a little more next week. I wouldn't expect anything close to a full workload for Akers until the playoffs, at best. More likely Michel starts the rest of this season and Akers is there to relieve him.Planning to start Sony this week. What I can't understand is why they'd risk throwing Akers in there so soon after injury.
I haven’t paid close enough attention. Is the Ravens run defense that good or is their passing defense that bad? They rank #1 in fewest rushing yards allowed but #32 in passing yardage allowed. The Ravens have a statistically great run D this year but I gotta think a lot of that is there is no point for teams to really try to run. You'd think they also could not (would not) over commit to it and need all teh help they can trying to stop Stafford from killing them. It will be hard for Sony to bust though to the second level but if he can then I see a huge yardage week along with a couple goal line TD plunges.
Does it matter? Bottom line is the Rams are better off throwingAnarchy99 said:I haven’t paid close enough attention. Is the Ravens run defense that good or is their passing defense that bad? They rank #1 in fewest rushing yards allowed but #32 in passing yardage allowed.
It could. If the Rams get ahead and want to burn clock, I doubt they would do it by continually passing. The Pats mauled the Browns on the ground. Swift had a decent outing against them for the Lions. Cardinals RB combined for 175 YFS. I don’t think Michel will go nuts, but 80/1 seems attainable.Does it matter? Sony Michel had 19 rushes for 74 yards and a touchdown in the Rams' Week 17 win against the Ravens, adding three receptions for 25 yards.
Michel delivered in a rough matchup against one of the league's stingiest rush defenses. Again operating as the team's every-down back, Michel broke off a couple longer runs in the second half and plunged into the end zone at the end of a lengthy LA drive. Michel's days as the Rams' workhorse could be numbered as Cam Akers is expected to return from the lineup in Week 18 against the 49ers. Probably Michel will serve as the lead back while Akers is eased into the lineup.

Seems like a 3 headed monster (like the one Godzilla used to fight) if they keep all 3 next year.I do wonder what his future role will be with Akers/Henderson
I doubt Michel would want to be part of a three headed hydra at RB. He's a free agent and likely would get more $$$ and more playing time elsewhere.Seems like a 3 headed monster (like the one Godzilla used to fight) if they keep all 3 next year.
SF made him look pretty terrible, but I do think he did enough to earn at least a more traditional RBBC role somewhere as the early down back. At one point he was at 10 carries for 3 yards, which isn’t the best YPA I’ve seen, to say the least.I doubt Michel would want to be part of a three headed hydra at RB. Id be shocked if he stayed in LA. His performance likely priced himself out and into a better situation. Dont think he'll be a bell cow but should have at least a cut of a decent 50/50 time shareSF made him look pretty terrible, but I do think he did enough to earn at least a more traditional RBBC role somewhere as the early down back. but yeah - if the Rams have a healthy Cam Akers & Henderson, I can’t see them spending on Sony this offseason. They have other holes to fill.
I’m not sure how much $ he’s realistically going to command & i’m struggling to think of a team that needs him enough to pay a significant amount, but I’m sure things will change over the next couple of months.
Sony Michel rushed 10 times for 16 yards in the Rams' NFC Championship win over the 49ers.
He caught 1-of-2 targets for -4 yards in the pass game. Cam Akers narrowly out-carried Michel 13-10 and out-gained him 48-16, though neither back was efficient against San Francisco's elite defense. After Akers fumbled twice last week, Michel was more involved in this one. He still did nothing with his looks. It will be interesting to see if the Rams activate Darrell Henderson (knee) from I.R. for the Super Bowl in two weeks against the Bengals.

Sony Michel rushed two times for two yards in the Rams' Super Bowl LVI victory over the Bengals.
Michel was not targeted in the passing game. With Darrell Henderson off injured reserve, Michel fell to No. 3 status behind Hendo and Cam Akers. Acquired from the Patriots for a pair of day-three picks in August, Michel was brought aboard as backfield insurance for Darrell Henderson after Cam Akers tore his Achilles’ tendon on the eve of training camp. It looked like that was all he would remain after handling the ball just once in Week 1, but Michel was soon splitting work with a brittle Henderson before eventually supplanting him all together down the stretch. Formerly “injury prone” himself, Michel appeared in all 17 games. He appeared poised to serve as the Rams’ bell-cow for the postseason before Akers made a stunning return and immediately surpassed Michel on the depth chart. Never more than replacement level in 2021 even though he was running in one of the league’s best offensive setups, 27-year-old Michel is now heading to free agency. We wouldn’t expect him to with a team that is in love with Akers and headed for salary cap headaches.

It was bizarre that they went away from a game plan that was carrying them to success, to jumping on an unproven player back from a serious injury. More than anything, without Michel running hard through the line, the Rams blocking turned ludicrously soft in the playoffs, even effecting pieces like Kupp.It worked out in the end for the Rams, but Akers returned and averaged 3.3 YPC with 1.6 YPC in the SB. Michel may not have been a better option, but he had a 4.3 YPC in the post season. I don’t expect any teams will go hog wild to sign him, but he should end up as a piece of a backfield committee or a reliable backup somewhere.
He looked terrible in the SB, but he did have a nice post-season run. None of the Rams RBs looked particularly good, so I'mma put that on the Bengals underrated DL.It worked out in the end for the Rams, but Akers returned and averaged 3.3 YPC with 1.6 YPC in the SB. Hard to look good when you get hit in the backfield the two times you touch the football. The Rams RBs crawled to 37 rushing yards on 20 carries. He looked terrible in the SB, but he did have a nice post-season run. MehLoved Roto sliding in that Sony Michel was replacement level in 2021 (which I'd disagree). Well I can promise you that if what he did was replacement level, that was a lot better than Akers was in 2021.
Thought Michel got to show off his pass game ability / pass pro skills a lot more in LA than he was asked in NE. And was the chain mover the Rams really needed during the year.
You can call Akers comeback a miracle.....you can also say he was just horrific in the return. Fortunately the Rams were able to win the SB with their D and pass games.
Michel will wind up a likely 2 down back somewhere. And LA really needs to finally maximize it's talent/backfield/keep guys on the field and put Akers in a 2-down role with Henderson as the COP/3rd down back.
Michel came in with fresh legs and blew up against some bad defenses (Jax, Minn, and Sea.) He struggled against good defenses (2ypc against SF in week 18, and 1.6ypc against them again in the NFCC game.) Outside of maybe the Arizona wildcard game, Michel was not any better in the postseason than Akers. Even Henderson only managed 7 yards on 4 carries last night.Loved Roto sliding in that Sony Michel was replacement level in 2021 (which I'd disagree). Both Michael and Henderson were replacement level and Akers was effectively not playable according to PFF.Loved Roto sliding in that Sony Michel was replacement level in 2021 (which I'd disagree). I thought once he took over the job down the stretch and ran well that he might open some eyes for next year - thinking like a Houston might be interested. And teams like that still might, but probably just as JAG/depth with a chance to emerge if things break well.I don't think Michel did anything to really differentiate himself from others in that group of "usual suspects" that are FAs or otherwise obtainable every offseason. He could end up being a guy with many stickers on his suitcase before he's done.
