RB Trey Benson, ARZ (1 Viewer)

As an optimistic Benson owner I'm just hopeful this is the Cardinals being thorough. They are 2-2. Lost their primary rb for the season. The next guy up hasn't proven himself at all. They need bodies. Like I said, Im hopeful. Or. Benson is hurt and will miss some time.

I remember people here really liking Carter a lot. Why would he be good now? Like...wasn't that drum already beaten?

There are some leagues that any available RB with potential for snaps, has value.

Specifically deep dynasty. Rebuilders that have sold off top assets, still need to field a roster. You never know with RB’s, even when you think you do.

Zach moss in ‘23 is a good example.

Demarcado may not be the pickup from AZ if Benson misses time. This article says:"If Benson misses any time, the Cardinals could turn to Michael Carter as their lead back, a role he filled for two games last year."Very murky situation

It isn't Carter being good, it was more being worried that when Demarcado was taken out during passing downs and the hurry up offense it wasn't Benson that came in, it was Carter.

This applies to me. In one league I've been decimated by injuries and I've been trading away vets for draft picks and young players and have scrambled finding players I can throw in my lineup. And in another I'm desperate for RBs due to underperformers. I've claimed Demercado AND Carter in several leagues. I even put a claim in for Zavier SCott in MIN but was outbid. I thought the NFL was supposed to be "safer" now? Seems like guys are hurt more often now than ever.

Michael Carter time!

So strange. Can't remember the last time two RBs (Irving, Benson) had dark internet rumors going on just before everyone was going to bed and setting their waiver priorities.

This news came out early yesterday and M. Carter, E. Demercado, S. Tucker all jump to the top of the list last night.

Had a couple good games end of last year.

@LAR: 13-70, 2-11
vs SF: 17-43-1, 4-16

Hell, better than my C. Brown shares.

This is why Rotoworlds staff is doo-doo:

"Cardinals RB Trey Benson (undisclosed) did not practice on Monday.
Not normally a noteworthy bit of information, Benson’s status is interesting because the Cardinals signed Michael Carter to their active roster on Monday. Theo Mackie of the Arizona Republic speculates that the Cardinals could turn to Carter as their lead back if Benson is hurt, and coach Jonathan Gannon would give only a vague “taking it day by day” update on Benson. This is a bit of an odd injury update timing since Arizona played on Thursday Night, but it’s certainly possible that Benson pops up on the injury report ahead of Week 5. Carter would seem to be the back to roster in what is shaping up to be a dream matchup against a beleagured Titans unit."

And then there is this:

"ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Cardinals RB Trey Benson (knee) is “in question” for Week 5 against the Titans.
Schefter added that the injury — sustained near the end of last Thursday’s loss to the Seahawks — “is not thought to be serious,” though it could limit him this week in practice and could cost him Week 5. Benson in Week 4 operated as the team’s lead back with James Conner (ankle) done for the season. He lost most pass-catching duties to Emari Demercado, however, who would slide in to Arizona’s RB1 role should Benson be sidelined this week. Demercado should be rostered in all leagues in case Benson sits. He would make for a solid flex option against a porous Tennessee defense allowing the seventh most rushing yards in 2025."

One day they say Carter is the one to pick up, the next day it's Demercado. Anyone that relies on their blurbs will get burned.

Rotoworld def used to be better but is still a good spot to get news on players in one spot IMO.

Any fantasy advice in their blurbs like any should be questioned but for when players are hurt they usually give ok updates and it’s free.

For Michael Carter being signed from the practice roster I saw that in other spots as well. Like this:

He played on Thursday but was he then put back on the practice squad? Not sure but Rotoworld was the first spot I saw that this was a thing with Trey’s injury.

Will most likely look elsewhere instead of investing more into the Cardinals backfield but now got to figure out if Carter is the fill in guy and Demarcado keeping his role or vice versa or will they both be mediocre (probably most likely) if Trey is indeed out.

Tennessee is bad so would be a great spot to drop someone in playing them.

Seems like Carter is the between the tackles guy and Demarcado is the receiving back.

Was looking forward to using Benson vs TEN, but not sure of how the backfield shakes out without him. I'll likely pivot to another FLEX player for the week.

Hopefully we’ll get some coach speak about the backfield if Bensen is out (seems to look that way) to clear up roles.

Like others I remember Carter having some good moments from time to time. This is the Jets guy, right?

I just read through the last 2 pages and other than missing practice Monday I’m not seeing any sourced info saying benson will miss time, or even what the injury is.

?

ETA: ok, 3 USA Today reported 3 mins ago that it’s a knee. Dammit! They’ve been saying DTD though.

Not gonna panic. Let’s see if he practices today.

Demercado has gotten 2 carries all season. I realize he's been the #3 back until last week, but I don't have any confidence in knowing how this backfield would break down without Benson.

We are all reading the tea leaves on the rest.
No need to now. DTD knee. No indication of severity which is usually a good thing, IMO. If it was bad, they’d probably say so, or indicate further testing coming, etc.

As it stands, if he practices in any capacity this week, this is probably a non-issue.

Man in my main league people are all over this stuff.

They are blocking backups on Tuesdays 😂

Someone claimed Demarcado last night in my home main league.

Due to the lack of clarity on roles, I had no choice but to add Demercado AND Carter. That's how bad my RB stable is. Now watch...Benson won't miss any time. :ROFLMAO:

Seeing as how they kept Demercado in the same role with Bensen for the one whole game and Carter has been a 1 with them it makes sense Carter would take the 1 role.

That means that Demercado goes off with 25 carries this weekend 😂

That escalated quickly.
Seriously.

Got ahead of the curve last night and put in a claim for Carter.

Been thinking all morning of grabbing Demarcado. Was on a business call when I heard the sleeper alert ding at 12:44. Went to grab him and some jerk picked him up at 12:45.

Serious Shark league.

I still have that sick feeling of being with the Jets and whatever other teams he's been with, no thanks. He could be a thing, but he won't be on my roster.

I am done wasting energy on this but I’ll leave this from some rando on Twitter: Carter got 75% of the carries last year when Bensen and Conner were out.

See you all in 10 mins when I check back in.

Sometimes it pays to take a step back and realize we're arguing over the best RB3 vs RB4 on a "meh" offense.

Last MON/TUE it was the Trey Benson Sweepstakes talk... 100% FA burn on a winning lottery ticket. And then TNF reality set in... he may be getting Conner's touches (may be), but he's no James Conner (and James Conner was no world-beater either). And now down to the album fillers on side 2 of Rush: 2112 (note: I know, I know... I like them too).

Rinse and repeat this week with Woody Marks.

Yup, such is fantasy. For every Marks and Slayton you get a gem like Puka or Achane.

You get more duds than studs but man when they hit, there is nothing more fun.

It’s all about scraping together points. This week for teams with Bensen and dreck on the wire it’s this situation!

.....but that didn't stop me from putting in a bid or two ;)
