RB/WR or WR/RB at the turn (1 Viewer)

Assuming a non PPR league of 12-14 teams...and you are drafting around 9 or 10.

RBs that COULD BE AVAILABLE in the 1st RD....

1.07 Marion Barber RB DAL

1.09 Frank Gore RB SF

1.10 Clinton Portis RB WAS

1.11 Marshawn Lynch RB BUF

WRs that COULD BE AVAILABLE in the 1st RD...

1.08 Randy Moss WR NE

1.12 Terrell Owens WR DAL

1.14 Reggie Wayne WR IND

2.02 Braylon Edwards WR CLE

Who do you like better between the RBs/WRs in the 1st Round?

RBs that COULD BE AVAILABLE in the 2nd RD...

2.05 Ryan Grant RB GB

2.07 Maurice Jones-Drew RB JAC

2.10 Jamal Lewis RB CLE

2.12 Willis McGahee RB BAL

3.02 Reggie Bush RB NO

3.05 Thomas Jones RB NYJ

WRs that COULD BE AVAILABLE in the 2nd RD...

2.05 Andre Johnson WR HOU

2.06 Larry Fitzgerald WR ARI

2.07 Marques Colston WR NO

2.11 T.J. Houshmandzadeh WR CIN

2.13 Chad Johnson WR CIN

Judging from this info...would you rather end up with a Randy Moss and Jamal Lewis combination in the first two rounds (WR/RB). Or, would you rather end up with a Frank Gore and Larry Fitzgerald combination?

I've seen Moss go earlier this year, but even if he does make it to the end of the 1st round, I'm not sure I like the WR/RB combo as much as I do the RB/WR.

Does the drop from Moss to Fitz outweight the drop Gore to Lewis, or vice versa in your mind?

I don't like ANY of the 2nd round RBs. I'll be addressing a different position in that round.
I feel the same way, which is why I'd hate to go WR in the 1st. The RBs in the 3rd or 4th RD aren't much better. I feel like there is WR value in the 2nd, or maybe a top 4 QB.

Because of my ####e luck with the draft lottery, I'm always stuck at 9-12. I've learned from my mistakes. If it happens to me again this year, I will grab the stud WR (either Owens or Moss) before any of those running backs. Gotta play it safe and take the less risky pick.

My thinking is that the RBs in the 3rd, 4th and 5th aren't much worse than the ones available in the 2nd. If I'm going to get a RB that I'm not happy with, at least I'm not burning a 2nd rounder on him.

Agreed. If I'm stuck at the bottom of the draft order in my league (passing TDs are worth six) and none of the RBs I value have mysteriously fallen, I'll look to build a strong passing team and build the running game later. I did a mock earlier this week from the ninth pick and ended up with Moss/Brees/Jacobs/Calvin Johnson/F. Taylor as my first five picks.

 I'm drafting 8th in a 14-team league. Figure LT/AP/Wesbrook/SJax/Addai/Gore will be gone, but I just don't see any of those other RBs as slam-dunk first-round picks.

I'm hoping Barber slips to me. Otherwise I'll snag Moss, and just continue to draft for value - be it another WR, or even taking a QB higher than I normally would. If you're going to wait on drafting RBs, this is the year.
