Rearview SOS - QBs (1 Viewer)

Ok, I just read this article and I have question. Its all about figuring out the true value of QBs but I didn't understand the conclusion. I kept reading, waiting to see QB projections based on their SOS since the article basically said you can project a QB based on their SOS and how much better they are than your average QB.

Did I miss something?

Hey spec1alk,

You're not going to find better QB projections from me than you will from David Dodds, who spends countless hours working on the official FBG projections. What my article about was trying to put what happenned last year in some perspective. It makes a great starting point for your projections. You might see that Eli Manning finished significantly higher than Brett Favre last year, and then conclude Eli Manning is better than Brett Favre because he's younger, has better targets and is more accurate less apt to throw INTs. What the rearview article hopefully shows is that the entire difference in FPs between Eli Manning and Brett Favre can be accounted for by Manning's (slight) additional games played and weaker schedule. And those things -- unlike being younger, more accurate and having a better supporting cast -- aren't likely to repeat from year to year.

One more piece of good news is I'm almost done with the rearview SOS article for RBs.

Chase, thank you for replying. I appreciate you taking the time.I understood the comparison of Eli to Favre and how Eli had a much easier schedule than Favre (and Eli has an incredibly tough schedule this year) and this contributed to his higher pts, but he is actually not as good a QB as favre when you compute the pts they scored above the average against a particular team.

I was just looking for a way to project these QBs into this season based on their SOS and it sounds like Dodds has included this into his forecasts.

This makes more sense now and I look forward to reading the article on RB SOS rearview.
