"Addressing a their most pressing roster need now that Clinton Portis is expected to be out for Sunday’s game against Green Bay, the Washington Redskins have brought back rookie running back Keiland Williams, adding him to their practice squad. The Redskins also have added rookie back Javarris James to the practice squad.

Most likely, Ryan Torain will start at running back, and Williams will be elevated to the 53-man roster some time this week (going off the last two weeks’ roster moves, late Friday or Saturday). Chad Simpson, who was added two weeks ago, but was inactive against St. Louis and used only on special teams last week, likely would be the third running back on Sunday."

That would add a little life to Portis being done in Washington.
I don't know if it adds a lot of fuel to that fire ... Depth would have to be a huge concern seeing as how Torain has never managed to stay healthy whenever given his shot. (I say that as a person who owns Torain in plenty of leagues and Portis in none)

definitely a situation to keep an eye on for the now torain / previous portis owners... as bloom has been saying i think it's necessary to have torain handcuffed given his history.

Im gonna be laughing when Shanny starts feeding him the rock at some point.

But then again, somene else will be laughing when he gives it to Chad Simpson.

Just saw on ESPN that Portis is slated to be out 4-6 weeks. Does anyone have firm info to confirm or deny this. If this is the case, that's a huge upgrade for Torrain (especially if he keeps producing) and a good upgrade for Keiland too!

This has been fairly over reported today and is pretty much confirmed. Legs to mumbling that CP is plain done in DC as well.

Confirmed by a local Redskin reporter.

Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis will miss four to six weeks with a third-degree separation of his left groin, Coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday, leaving the bulk of the team's carries - at least temporarily - for second-year back Ryan Torain, who has a history of injuries himself.
