"The impasse is broken.

The Washington Redskins have signed rookie quarterback and projected starter Robert Griffin III to a four-year, $21.11 million contract that includes a team option for a fifth year.

The contract for the second overall pick is fully guaranteed and contains no offset language.

Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement and the rookie slotting system, Griffin is due a signing bonus of $13.79 million.

Drafted second overall, the dynamic quarterback from Baylor is expected to energize the Redskins' offense.

"Well people....It's Time to go to Work!!!" Griffin wrote on his official Twitter account. "Off the unemployment line and oh yea HTTR!!!!"

That's short for, Hail to the Redskins.

The Redskins executed a blockbuster trade this spring with the St. Louis Rams to position themselves to draft Griffin, a strong-armed, athletic Heisman Trophy winner.

Griffin missed a few days of work this week after the Redskins' rookies reported to training camp.

Veterans report next week.

Now, the RGIII era can officially begin in Washington.

Top overall pick Andrew Luck, the Indianapolis Colts' rookie quarterback, remains unsigned.

The deal for Griffin is expected to trigger more signings in the first round. He's the highest pick to agree to terms so far. "
