1. After Brady and Manning, there is no better QB in football than Big Ben.

2. Ryan Grant's skill and schedule make him top 10 back the rest of the way, perhaps top 5.

3. I don't think Travis Henry is getting his job back...

4. Marc Bulger is back.

5. If the Dolphins could not win today, I don't hold out much hope of them winning this year.

thoughts?

I wasn't impressed with what I saw of Grant. He'll finish the season as the starter, but is still just a stop-gap solution long-term.

Derek Anderson is not the real deal. He looked horrible today. Nervous in the pocket. Terrible accuracy. Trade him in a dynasty and buy Quinn. Quinn is the future in Cleveland.

I don't agree with this. I thought the Steelers played lockdown defense after the first drive. Derek Anderson has impressed me very much in the last several weeks.

Brian Westbrook is a really good player.

Benson still blows.

How is Oakland containing Hester when no other team can?

I hope Adrian Peterson isn't hurt too bad.

Did you watch the game today EBF? Grant was making things happen and following his blocks extremely well. Don't forget that Thompson traded for him. I'm pretty sure the Packers believed all along that one of the backs on their roster would be good enough to handle the duties. Grant is getting a chance to showcase his abilities and so far has been very impressive. This was the #2 run defense the Packers faced today. They stepped up and got it done. Most of it came in the 1st quarter and then the Vikings focused more on stopping the run and Favre took advantage. But still, 2 of the last 3 games Grant has topped 100 yards. I think they have just what they are looking for. Morency looks good as the 3rd down back as well. What's more impressive is that the Packers #5 WR had such a big game. Weapons everywhere. I've learned the Packers are for real and they will prove it again on Thanksgiving when all the naysayers will be quieted.

No, I didn't watch all of the Green Bay game. I just saw little bits and pieces while I was watching the Cleveland/Pitt game. From what (admittedly little) I saw of Grant, he didn't look as good as the numbers would indicate. I could be wrong there. But it's not all that uncommon for a mediocre back to rip off a string of good games (see: Dayne, Betts, Lundy, Fargas, etc).

He looked terrible today. He was missing lots of open receivers in the second half and throwing everything in the dirt.

I'm with EBF. Anderson has been much more inconsistent than his stats would suggest. Winslow and Edwards save him constantly and he's frequently benefited from some blown coverages.Steeler defense gave him the happy feet for certain, but they were still his happy feet.

No love for McNabb?

Afterall, next week will be just a year from when he injured his knee, and the Redskins D has been putting it on teams at times.

How about something like this1. Manning2. Brady3. Ben/ Palmer
That's just awful.
I don't want to choose between Manning and Brady. I think Big Ben is right behind them. Palmer is beginning to remind me a lot of Drew Bledsoe. I haven't been that impressed by Carson this year- he had a great year 2 yrs ago, but has he been consistently good? I don't think so.Farve is a witch. How he can look so good after so many years is amazing. I still like Ben over Brett, not by much though...

I agree that Anderson looked mediocre....against one of the best defenses in football, on the road, with no threat of a running game.

Excuses excuses. Anderson had plenty of time and plenty of open receivers today. He didn't make the throws. It's only one bad game, but he sure didn't look like a franchise QB to my eyes today.

I didn't get to see the game nor do I know yet if DA is the real deal or not, but did Romo look like a franchise QB vs. the Bills? How about Brees earlier this year? It's ok to have a bad game every now and then, especially against an elite defense. DA kept it close in game that most predicted they didn't have a shot.

You'll have to remind me what Quinn has done to be considered a franchise QB other than play at ND, be on TV every week, and have a sexy sister and girl friend. If Quinn were to play his first year starting half as well as Anderson it would be a success. And, you don't make a decision about a franchise QB based on one game against a top defense.

You are wrong. He made the Minnesota defense look silly. LT and Westbrook couldn't manage 50 yards against these guys. Grant looked alert and found anything he could to extend a run.

I know EBF and I are arguing uphill here, but DA has a completion percentage of only 56%. Many of his long TD passes were the result of blown coverages, many others were stud plays on the part of Edwards and Winslow. He was woefully inaccurate today and failed to get a first down in the second half despite the Steelers really putting very little pressure on him (zero sacks and zero quarterback hits).

He's thrown a bunch of TD passes but that's really all. I'd be selling high. If he ends up in another location without the benefit of a Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow and/or a worse OL, he's in trouble.

Did anyone say Quinn was?We don't know if he is, he may or may not be, which is probably the point.

Willie Parker is going to need a roadmap, tour guide and VIP pass to find the end zone. I know he's getting the yardage. I know TD production is fickle.....but damn throw me a bone every once in awhile, I could use the six points.

Given how much they paid Henry, I'm pretty certain it is his job to keep. He hasn't been benched. He is out with an injury.

My point is that if Quinn HAD started this year and had done as well as Anderson has everyone would be talking about how great he is and how much he will improve next year with a year of starting under his belt, blah blah blah. Yet for some reason people are ready to throw DA under the bus when he has a sub-par game against a great defense? He is well on his way to 4,000 yards and 30 plus TDs in his first year starting. I can't believe we are even having this discussion and doubt we would if there were not Quinn dynasty owners out there.

I appreciate the point about the perceived differences between the talent of Quinn and Anderson. My argument that Anderson is a clear sell high target has as much or more to do with what I see to be inflated statistics as it does that there is a first round pick waiting in the wings.Until that last sentence, I had yet to mention Quinn in my arguments.

Anderson has done a pretty decent job this season. He's certainly exceeded expectations. But a string of decent games against weak teams doesn't make him a franchise QB. Some of his best games have come against Cincinnati, Oakland, and St. Louis. He put up nice yardage against Seattle and New England, but I'd attribute that to the fact that he threw the ball 43 and 48 times in those games.

Maybe I'm being a bit too quick to write him off since he's played reasonably well and he's still young enough to improve, but he didn't impress me today. He looked like the same player he was in college: physically talented, but inconsistent and erratic.

The reason I mentioned Quinn is because the team made a major investment in his future and will almost certainly give him a shot sooner or later. Look at all of the recent first round QBs:

Vince Young

Matt Leinart

Jay Cutler

Alex Smith

Aaron Rodgers

Jason Campbell

Eli Manning

Philip Rivers

Ben Roethlisberger

JP Losman

Carson Palmer

Byron Leftwich

Kyle Boller

Rex Grossman

David Carr

Joey Harrington

Patrick Ramsey

These guys have only been in the league a few years, but almost all of them have had an extended audition as a starter in the NFL. The vast majority of them are starting right now. Ramsey, Carr, Leftwich, and Boller are backups, but they've all had significant starting experience. Aaron Rodgers is the only QB on this list who hasn't started a game. He's playing behind a Hall of Famer.

When a team drafts a QB in the first round, it more or less commits itself to giving him a shot as its franchise QB. IMO

Derek Anderson will have to play extremely well to keep Quinn off the field long-term.

Well, you may be right, I hope not. I own both of them, but Young has looked better and is prodocing much more when he gets the starts. What I am afraid of is that when Travis is healthy, they'll go RBBC now. So to tell you the truth, I'd rather Travis be suspended or something sooner rather than later.

Other than Palmer and Big Ben how many of those highly touted, expensive picks have had a year where they have done as well as DA has? Pretty short list. If you are saying that Quinn will get a chance because he was a high pick (I really believe that had as much to do with the Media loving the guy as his play), then you are right. But the names you mention do not offer good odds that Quinn will be better than Anderson. If I were the Brown's GM I would try to trade the highly regarded but UNPROVE guy for a player or pick and be happy that you have found your franchise QB for a lot less money.

As someone who owns both Young and Henry, I agree. It would be much simpler to just know that we could start Young and I suspect he would do better than Henry has.

1. Favre has plenty left in the tank...especially with a good o-line and a good runner in Grant (any way you slice it the kid's stats are there; first quarter counts as much as the 4th)

2. Westy is a fantasy machine

3. Selvin Young is more productive than Henry...right now

4. You're only as good as your last game (see DET)

5. Sjax's presence alone makes the Rams a trap game for any playoff team down the stretch

I never said Quinn would do well. But unless Anderson plays like a Pro Bowler and/or Cleveland makes the playoffs, there's almost no way the team will be able to justify paying him a lot of money to stick around when they have a first round QB waiting in the wings. It's not like Anderson is McNabb or Bulger. He's not a guy who has a long track record of success. He's a young QB who may or may not be capable of leading a team long-term. That's exactly what Quinn is. And since the team has already made a huge financial commitment to Quinn, it will be difficult for them to justify paying Anderson unless he plays extremely well.

The siuation does bear a simliarity to Drew Brees and Rivers at SD. But I'm one of those who think SD made a mistake. I don't think Rivers will ever be a very good QB. If I were the Browns, I would really hesitate to give up Anderson. Don't mess with success...

1. After Brady and Manning, there is no better QB in football than Big Ben.

2. Ryan Grant's skill and schedule make him top 10 back the rest of the way, perhaps top 5.

3. I don't think Travis Henry is getting his job back...

4. Marc Bulger is back.

5. If the Dolphins could not win today, I don't hold out much hope of them winning this year.

thoughts?
Given how much they paid Henry, I'm pretty certain it is his job to keep. He hasn't been benched. He is out with an injury.
Of course Young has looked better. That doesn't mean Shanahan has any intention of abandoning Henry, however. I'm sure he still views Henry as "their guy". We can find several examples of this around the league. The most egregious example was starting Chester Taylor over Adrian Peterson.

Look at all of the recent first round QBs:Vince YoungMatt LeinartJay Cutler Alex SmithAaron RodgersJason CampbellEli ManningPhilip RiversBen RoethlisbergerJP LosmanCarson PalmerByron LeftwichKyle BollerRex Grossman David CarrJoey HarringtonPatrick RamseyThese guys have only been in the league a few years, but almost all of them have had an extended audition as a starter in the NFL. IMO Derek Anderson will have to play extremely well to keep Quinn off the field long-term.

I think Quinn will do more, and will get his shot.I agree Anderson looked timid, especially in the second half. Also, Roethlisberger is a top QB, but how is he better than Romo or Favre. The Cowboys would be favoured on a neutral field.
