Reggie Bush may be out for the year (1 Viewer)

Mort is reporting as well...

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Reggie Bush could miss the Saints' final four games due to a torn ligament in his knee.

Mort says Bush has already been diagnosed with the injury. We'll need to find out more and should shortly. Don't rush to drop Bush in fantasy leagues, but Aaron Stecker and Pierre Thomas would take over New Orleans' backfield if this news is true.

yeah, they reported it right before they went to Colt Brennan. Not sure when they are doing the 2nd opinion, but it will be done before they shut him down for the year.

Man RB's are just getting crushed this year. According to my records there are only 24 RB's who played in all 12 of the first games:

Adrian Peterson CHI

Brian Leonard

Clinton Portis

DeAngelo Williams

DeShaun Foster

Earnest Graham

Edgerrin James

Fred Taylor

Julius Jones

Justin Fargas

Kenton Keith

Kevin Faulk

LaDainian Tomlinson

Ladell Betts

LenDale White

Marion Barber

Maurice Drew

Musa Smith

Reggie Bush

Reuben Droughns

Thomas Jones

Warrick Dunn

Willie Parker

Willis McGahee

I traded him for Sjax right before week 3 for Sjax. I missed the playoffs because of it, but the guy I traded with must also be cursing himself out right now. Even though I obviously lost that one this makes it a bit more tolerable (only a bit, though).

For those of us that would have to move quickly, what do people see for the likely replacements. It looks to me that if, say, Stecker were going to carry the load, you'd be looking at maybe 65-70 combined yards and a .40 shot at a TD.

I don't see a lot of Saints games. What do others think? Would it be a RBBC?

What would the value of Stecker or Thomas be?
I think Thomas has been hindered by kidney problems recently. At minimum he's been inactive. I know there are a lot of NO fans that are questioning why Pierre wasn't used more often once Deuce went down, so I would imagine he'd be a deep sleeper pickup in keeper leagues if he can come back this year and show some skills.Stecker will likely be where he was two years ago when Deuce got hurt. A <4.0 ypc back with decent skills catching the ball. I wouldn't look to him as more than a backup player in anything but the deepest league. I don't see the next season saving Ryan Grant or Ernest Graham with this guy.

Stecker's a very ordinary runner but he is a good receiver and in a PPR league he's not a bad RB3 this week in my opinion. Atlanta's run defense isn't very good and they give up a healthy number of receptions to RBs each week. Stecker won't duplicate Bush's production as a receiver but I think he could get 4-6 without too much difficulty. If he gets the majority of the carries he could get 60+ rushing yards. So I think he has a shot about 90+ total yards with an outside chance for a TD.If you're scrambling for flex help in a PPR league I think Stecker's become pretty viable this week.

I love when people use only a last name to define a player who shares that name with a few other people in the league. I'm guessing Johnson goes off this weekend.

Change the title or lock the thread.

Please tell me you are talking about Steve Bush, TE, 49ers.
Steve's been retired for a number of years now after his dad (a good friend of my dad's) died.
He's in the free agent pool in my NFL.com fantasy league.
Interesting. He hasn't been on a roster in 2 seasons. He's retired and running a construction company he started in Phoenix.FWIW, he's an example of making a career out of special teams. Too slow to be a receiving TE but could block like crazy at TE and HB and kept getting jobs because he trained to be a long snapper early in his career. And if you can long snap, you'll get hired. Denny Green screwed him when he came in to AZ.

You take enjoyment over someone's season being over? :goodposting:

I am playing against the bush owner this weekend, would you dump chatman to pick up stecker, I am loaded at RB with Westy, Graham, Fargas, and Kolby Smith but he has a nice matchup this week and the other owner it would hurt him more than me.

No way, if that is how it came across, my apologies. I will refrain from such posts in the future.

He's over reacting. It doesn't read like you are happy Bush is out.

I love it when people can't use common sense or context to figure out which Bush would be of any fantasy impact on the remaining season. While there are several Johnsons that one could be talking about, there's really only one Bush that 99% of the thinking readers thought of when they read the title.

Don't sweat it. You're not the first FF player to not be sorry someone is out, and a lot of owners think that way if it helps their team win. Those that say they never think that way are liars.

Why should I have to assume who the person is talking about. That's how miscommuncation happens. If that's your modus operandi when communicating, I can see why you are a difficult person to get along with.

There are three players in the NFL with the last name "Bush."Michael Bush is already on IR.Jarrett Bush is a recently-benched nickel back for the Packers.Reggie Bush is a 1st-round fantasy RB with a knee injury. If you really have to work too hard for that assumption, you might be in the wrong hobby.

Bush will never carry the ball 200 times in a year in the NFL.

a) He sucks at running the ball

b) He can't physically do it

Oh you mean Reggie Bush?! I thought you meant Derrick Wimbush the Jacksonville Jaguars RB. Man, when I first read the thread title I thought my fantasy season was over!

Reggie Bush-RB-Saints Dec. 7 - 3:10 pm et

Saints coach Sean Payton confirmed Friday that Reggie Bush has a torn PCL in his left knee, but is hopeful Bush can play on Monday night.

"If you just study the history of PCL injuries, I know they vary with each player, but it is an injury that you come back from," Payton said. "We'll monitor where he's at." Bush practiced without restrictions on Thursday, but felt sore on Friday and that led to an MRI which revealed the damage. The odds still seem heavily against Bush playing versus the Falcons.
