THE NEWS:Jeff duncan Tweeted that Reggie Bush (leg) was moving around well at practice on Tuesday, according to head coach Sean Payton.OUR VIEW:Bush is on schedule to return this week against the Cowboys. He was a gameday inactive last week so check back Thursday to be sure he's good to go but if he plays consider Bush a high-upside RB3 this week.
sorry no link. what are others' thoughts and do any NO homers have any insight?

I own Bush and won't be playing him. I suspect he won't get back to FT duties until week 13 at the earliest.

From Sportsline:

Reggie Bush, RB NONews: After practicing in full on Monday, Saints RB Reggie Bush was limited in Tuesday's session as New Orleans continued preparations for its Week 12 game at Dallas on Thursday.

FWIW -- and this flew under the radar, it seems -- Sean Payton, during Sunday's post-game press conference, basically declared Bush good to go for Thursday. Will look for a link ... I heard the press conference live.

Podcast, after a full practice Monday, it's no surprise that Bush's work is being limited. Payton is super-cautious about re-injury, and has no problem letting his vets off with light practice weeks.

Hmmm ... wasn't as absolute as I remembered it, I guess:
Coach Sean Payton and Bush said they're hoping he'll be ready for Thursday's Thanksgiving Day game at Dallas.

"I was pretty disappointed," said Bush, who has been out since he fractured his right fibula nine weeks ago at San Francisco. "But I understand that it's not 100 percent. I'm close to 100 percent, but a few more days of rest obviously is going to do nothing but help me out."

When asked what he still has to show the coaches and trainers before he gets back on the field, Bush joked, "I don't know. I think I've got to score a couple touchdowns in pregame or something."

But then he conceded that he "understood" Payton's point that, "I wasn't taking the normal amount of reps in practice that I normally do. And he just felt like, 'Hey, let's rest this week and get your normal routine back this coming up week and prepare for Dallas.'"

Payton explained that the problem with activating a player that might not be fully healthy is that they would run into depth problems if he winds up being limited to "seven snaps" if he suffers a setback.

One good thing, it is a Thurs game as opposed to a late game Sun or Mon night game. If he plays you almost have to take a flyer on him unless you have more proven at the flex spot.

It's a risk to play Bush this week so I think I'm holding off, being a Thurs game.

I may regret it, but I feel Blount is a safer play even against BAL so I'm pluggin him in at flex.

But dangit I'm ready to get Bush in there... he's money in ppr, just need to see how he does first.

I've got no choice. If he plays, I'm playing him.

By backs suck. I've been waiting on him for a wile now.

This is getting old.

Not so fast

After practicing in full on Monday, Saints RB Reggie Bush was limited in Tuesday's session as New Orleans continued preparations for its Week 12 game at Dallas on Thursday.

Analysis: Here we go again. Just when Bush's owners thought they could safely insert him into their lineup for Week 12 after last week's debacle, coach Sean Payton pulls this. Considering Payton's secrecy over the Pierre Thomas situation, owners who have Bush better have another RB option ready to go in case he's inactive again. And who knows how much work he'll get on Thursday considering he wasn't able to play just a couple of days ago.

How many guys have returned from a broken leg the same season and been effective? Bush has never been a relevent non-ppr FF player and I am not counting for too much out of him.

Unfortunately, there won't be any more info prior to the game tomorrow:

New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton released the team's final injury report Wednesday prior to the Thanksgiving Day game against the Cowboys, but cautioned the report in some cases was more a projection than a firm indicator because of the unusually short practice week.

Running back Reggie Bush, whose reappearance on the field since cracking his fibula against San Francisco in week two, was listed as limited and questionable for Thursday's game. Bush said he feels good but declined to make any predictions on whether he would play against the Cowboys. He felt ready to play against the Seahawks last Sunday, he said, and was scratched.

Listed as probable for the Dallas game were cornerback Patrick Robinson, offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod, defensive end Junior Galette, running back Chris Ivory, defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis, center Jonathan Goodwin, safety Usama Young and defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove.

The following players are questionable in addition to Bush: tight end Jeremy Shockey, safety Malcolm Jenkins, and safety Darren Sharper.

Running backs Pierre Thomas and Ladell Betts are out, but Payton declined speculation on whether their absence makes it more likely Bush will be in the lineup.

I think Travis Henry did back in his Bills days. I don't have much more info off the top of my head, but the one thing to note is that the fibula, which Bush broke, is the non weight-bearing bone in the leg. That's not to say that a broken fibula isn't serious, but it's not as serious as a broken tibia since that is the weight-bearing bone.

Betts and PT are out. Saints message board think no way they go into game with just Ivory and Jones.

a few years ago ben wallace (nba center) returned after 6 weeks (iirc, mebbe 8) from a broken fibula.

Is it just me, or has Bush been really inconsistent and unreliable as a fantasy back for the last few years? I've never owned him and don't know much about the Saints ground situation, but looking back at some fantasy stats over a few years, I wouldn't have much faith in him long term. Unless I'm missing something, it seems like a lot of people are sucked in just because he's a "big name". Unless it's a PPR, which I could understand him having more value since he plays a role in the passing game.

I'm going with Bush today over Blount. Maybe I just want a played going today and if thats why its not smart by me but true.

Saints running back Reggie Bush worked on a limited basis in Tuesday's practice even though coach Sean Payton said Sunday that he had a "great chance" of playing against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday.

Payton, however, said after practice that Bush was listed as limited only because of the number of repetitions they gave him in team drills as they continued preparing for Thursday's game.

"He's doing well, he's handling it," Payton said of Bush, who's missed the last eight games with a fractured right fibula. "It's just a matter of the team reps."

When asked about Bush's chances for playing Thursday, Payton said, "Pretty good. He's moving around and he continues to get better."
