Are Wayne and Colston still worth rostering if it means passing on potential up and comers like Martavis and Moncrief? Has anyone cut either old timer?
This is the right answer, I think. In one league with fairly deep benches and PPR, I'm keeping Colston. In a standard scoring league with only 6 bench spots and starting just 2WR and a flex, I dumped him. I think Wayne is more useful right now, just because he's had a few more impactful games this year. Colston had a good game in week 1 and a good game when Graham didn't really play. He's been lapped by Cooks for targets and the Saints actually are running the ball effectively with Ingram after years of not quite being able to get there.Depends on your scoring, in TD leagues with short rosters both these guys are fodder. In PPR they are firmly at the end of the benches. In dynasty you cant give them away.
Yup. In my league with tight roster limits I dropped him for Sims. My team is really good in that league and Colston was my least productive player. If I wanted Sims - and I really wanted Sims - I had to drop Colston even though I hated to do it. So not all decisions are equal. I agree in most cases these aren't guys to drop, though, but put on their bench. This is the right answer, I think. In one league with fairly deep benches and PPR, I'm keeping Colston. I'm aware of what Colston did last year. But there are lots of mouths to feed in NO and he's dropped some balls that seems like he would catch in the past. Cooks has passed him up. His targets are down from 8 to 6.4 per game. Legit question I think, despite the star name and the prolific offense. Stills plays on the same offense and is he rosterable? Has PT been a consistently strong scorer this year when healthy?/threadYeah cut starting wrs in a brees or luck offense
anyone got any dirt on whether wayne is going to play on monday?
True, but it seems there's at least a decent chance Moncreif has pulled at least even. Tough call if you have either/both and hold them and see how it shakes out and you don't want to miss out owning Luck's #2Before the injury, Wayne was on pace for 86 catches and 1000 yds. Sure only 1 TD but TDs are kind of flukey. Someone dropped him in my league and I quickly scooped him right up.
Yep. Sometimes you have to drop a guy like this in part because you can't trade him, since he hasn't flashed any of his potential value this year. Of course he should be rostered in nearly any league...but maybe just not by you.Yup. In my league with tight roster limits I dropped him for Sims. Good info here. I would also encourage a glimpse at Colston's playoff schedule when deciding whether to buy/sell/hold. It's pretty favorable with a home game vs CAR, @ CHI and home vs ATL. All 3 games have shoot-out potential based on venue and opponents. All 3 of these pass defenses are ranked below the median and 2 of the 3 have allowed 16+ passing TDs (CAR & CHI) on the season thus far.Mr. Irrelevant said:Last year through 8 games, Colston had 27/342/1 and a whopping 40 fantasy points in standard and 67 in PPR. By the numbers alone, he wasn't even a WR5. A lot of folks cut him at that point.![]()
He followed that up by going 48/601/4 over his last 8 and finished with 124 points in standard, 201 in PPR, right around the WR25-27 range. In fact, here's a complete list of WRs who outscored Colston in the second half of last season:
Josh Gordon
Demaryius Thomas
Eric Decker
Antonio Brown
A.J. Green
Alshon Jeffery
Brandon Marshall
Anquan Boldin
Dez Bryant
Julian Edelman
Pierre Garcon
That's it; that's the list. Eleven names.
Fool me once, shame on you ...
I like the thought except that Chicago away game at a critical time. IIRC, the last time Saints went into Chicago in cold weather it was a low scoring affair with a 23-20 type finish.Good info here. As a Bears fan I'd also argue that both the Bears and the Falcons could be in complete shambles by those games as well...food for thought.
This should be part and parcel of just about every thread. Too much focus is put on matchups.matchups that look great on paper don't always produce the intended results.
I would say no since they have a bye next week and he isn't practicing. I say shut him down and have the bye and he will be ready week 11ragnarok628 said:anyone got any dirt on whether wayne is going to play on monday?
Can you post the rest of your roster and who is out there in FA so I can answer your question? You gotta answer mine though...TIAAre Wayne and Colston still worth rostering if it means passing on potential up and comers like Martavis and Moncrief? Has anyone cut either old timer?
Marques Colston caught 3-of-3 targets for 36 yards in New Orleans' Week 9 win over the Panthers.
Another quiet night for Drew Brees' security blanket, who is on pace for a modest 56/888/2 at the season's halfway point. Colston closed strong in 2013, but that may not be in the cards this season with Brandin Cooks fighting for targets over the middle of the field. Colston is a Reggie Wayne-esque WR3.
Moncrief seems like he can do what Stills seems to be doing with Brees. Not starting per se, but part of a lot of 3 WR sets and getting some targets from Luck that traditionally went to Wayne as the savvy vet.3 catches last night for Colston and he really wasn't a big part of the offense. That's his fifth game out of eight with four catches or fewer.

Colston is the #57 WR in PPR PPG.Why would you cut Colston? Only 1 week where he hasn't had double digit points, and he didn't even have a target. Granted, he isn't what he once was, but he seems to be quite a WR3.

in my 16 team league he's a fine WR4. I've been starting him most weeks.
