Regrets so far from startup dynasty drafts this year (1 Viewer)

Probably bad timing on this thread, as we're all probably eagerly awaiting the start of the season tonight, but anyone who had startup dynasty drafts this year, what are you regretting right now? Either picks you've made, positional strategies, trades accepted/not accepted, etc.?

So far what sticks out to me is not taking early reports on Sidney Rice and Vincent Jackson seriously and still drafting them rather high. These drafts were earlier in the off-season obviously, but looking back 4 months later, those are moves I'd easily second guess right now.

Anybody else?

I am in three dynasty leagues, two ongoing and one startup. Even though the startup draft took place 2 months ago, I still feel I crushed that draft and am pumped for the upcoming season. Now my other two leagues? I've made some significant trading blunders this summer. In one league, I out-twitterred myself, using "inside twitter info" to propose a trade that I never should have proposed, and one in which the other owner accepted in the blink of an eye. And in another I traded a 2011 2nd rounder for Matt Leinart in early August in a league where I was thin at QB. Ouch.

Letting Arian Foster drop to the 18th round. I dont think anyone's stock has improved as much as his over the past couple months.

Apart from the aforementioned Sidney Rice/Vincent Jackson situations (I took VJax at 3.1, and another owner took Rice at 2.11), the preseason has me really scared for the Bears passing game. They could still be a pleasant surprise after the past month's sack-heavy offense, but taking Cutler at 6.12 and Hester at 11.1 looks pretty rough right now. At least the rest of the team makes up for it.

I have no regrets so far, but two of my league-mates do when they followed the Tate and Hardesty hype-train and passed on CJ Spiller.

I took Sidney Rice in a couple...and I also took Santonio in some startups...when he was still on PIT and hadn't gotten in trouble. I had him pegged as a top 5-10 guy starting now and for 5-10 years with BB. Now I gotta pray Sanchez develops well

The Kurt Warner owner in my league traded a 2010 first rounder for Leinart halfway through last season. Double ouch.I'm actually pretty happy with my startup draft this season. There were a couple of picks that I think I misplayed (not paying enough attention to the Arizona situation and grabbing Mike Vick over Max Hall, grabbing Roethlisberger when I probably could have let him slide for another couple of rounds, misreading a draft and grabbing a QB earlier than I should have, etc), but by and large I'm not going to radically alter my opinion on any one player based on a couple weeks or even a month. It was also the first draft I've ever gone into where all of the rankings I used were 100% my own, which made a much bigger difference than I thought it would. Typically, I've got a rough rankings list and I might take any one of the top 5 or 6 names on it, depending on who I feel like at the moment. With my own rankings list, though, it's always a matter of just taking the top name on the list, which was pretty cool. I definitely like the results a lot better, too.

Had a startup dynasty auction ($400) in April, 12 teams, PPR.

I had the intention of going after WRs, but semi-panicked partway through when all the RBs were going. I started with Calvin and Marshall at WR, Finley at TE, Romo at QB, and rookkie picks 1.02 and 1.04, then had to cobble together a RB corps while ignoring WRs.

I picked up Mike Bush, Reggie Bush, and Barber as my forst 3 RBs, all with question marks at the time, knowing that 1 or two of my rookie picks were going to be RBs. I also got Portis and a few decent backup RBs, but my WR3 was looking bad. Manningham, J.Nelson, K.Walter, N.Washington, E.Bennet, J.Gaffney.... I spent $9 on those 6 players.

I ended up with pick 1.06, which I traded for 1.03... With 1.02, .03, and .04 I took Mathews, Spiller, Best. Traded Best and M.Bush for Charles/T.Jones.

So my panic at filling the RB spot resulted in a RB corps of Mathews, Charles, Spiller, R.Bush, Barber, and Portis.

But my best WR3 is probably Gaffney. It seems straightforward that I should trade a RB for a WR, but everybody wants to give a Donald Driver level guy for Mathews... I offered Portis to a RB starved team for Mike Thomas and was turned down. It is interesting, because RB is a serious weakness for at least 6 teams, but they hold onto their mediocre WRs like they are golden.

One guy posted on the message board on Aug 8 : "I have turned off all notifications of trade offers via owner setup as I do not trade "In-Season", at least, not in Dynasty leagues!" That was dumbfounding to me.

Anyway. We'll see how it works out. Somebody is going to be willing to trade a WR at some point.
