Only one team this year has been able to lose by 8 or less to Syracuse, beat Ohio State, beat Wisconsin, and beat Florida State - your Minnesota Golden Gophers.

every tv game now, they talk about Jimmy graham, Tony Gonzalez et al, when talking about young and how he could play tight end in the nfl. I just don't see it. He's ripped but I don't see the quickness let alone never having seen him try to catch a football. He reminds me of a skinnier charles oakley. Seems like he should be doing more.

Still need to lose a game, though, somewhere soon. This game wouldn't have been the one, a bit too close. We need our noses punched, just once, before March. I really think the losses after the 21-0 start in '03 were exactly what the team needed at the time and inspired the tourney run with Carmelo.

Exactly what I'm thinking but wanted the win in Pitt - huge for confidence. Rather not have that loss in the ACC tourney but with road games at Duke, Maryland, UVA & FSU it'll definitely happen.

We lost the opener that year. I think we were something like 14-4 at one point.

CBB media is doing their annual mock selection committee exercise.

Still finishing the field, but their #1 seeds are Syracuse, Arizona, Florida, and Wichita State.

 
It's all Orange. The 'Cuse knows how to win tight games,Ennis doesn't get rattled,not saying they won't lose a game or two,but in the Tourney,the experience their getting in close games will benefit them.

 
I'm skeptical of a deep Syracuse run in the tournament. No team that plays as slow a tempo as they do has won the tournament in the kenpom era. They also have depth issues, and their road schedule has not been very tough outside of Pitt.

 
If they get the #1 seed in the east they would be playing in Buffalo and then NYC. Gotta like them to make the Final Four in that scenario.

I haven't looked at all of Syracuse's games, but Arizona has only lost 1 and has been tied or trailing at half in almost every damn game.

 
Eventually, Cuse always faces a team which shoots just well enough to negate the zone. Then they have trouble answering on the offensive end. Why will that be any different this year? They've made it out of the regionals only twice in the past 11 seasons.

The main difference between this year and last season is we have guards who can shoot. We went to the final four last year with two guys back there who couldn't shoot the thing at all. We've had two other teams in the last 4 years that could have won it all if not for bad luck late in the season with the injury to Onuaku (probably the best team the school has ever had) and with the Melo suspension two years ago. I think we go to the final four both of those years if those guys didn't miss the tournament. We didn't lose those years because the other team shot lights out. We lost to teams who played tough, physical defense. This season we start 4 NBA players and our 5th guy is one of the best 3 point shooters in the country. The two guys we start at forward are as good as we've ever had. The light came on about a month ago for Christmas. What can you say about Ennis? Cooney just dropped 33 a few weeks ago on ND. We're not going to go undefeated but you gotta think the team is poised for a deep run. Just hoping the committee doesn't put Pitt in our region.

Boeheim never plays a deep rotation. It's always just 6-7 guys.

 
Hard to argue against Syracuse this year. Big guards for the zone and athletic big men. Fair has the potential to carry them in March. They have a shooter in Cooney and Ennis seems to be impervious to any kind of pressure. Grant just keeps getting better and I'd bet Gbinjie ends up making an impact in a big game. The loss of Coleman hasn't slowed them, though it could eventually, but Boeheim does a great job of making sure there's always somebody to fill in. They do an amazing job with the zone of forcing teams to shoot a ton of threes and most opponents miss most of them. They're vulnerable to a a hot team and I'm willing to bet they get a huge scare against some team that is hot in the tourney but I'd be surprised if they don't make the Final Four this year.

A team like Creighton could hurt Syracuse, but the Orange look really strong.

Obviously not being serious, but a nice W today, even though they tried to give it away at the end & a strong 6 game win streak...

The LOL @ State is pretty demeaning considering NC State played very well against the #1 team in the country, and @ that teams house.

Of course they played a nice game. The "LOL" was in reference to that one specific play. They won't be able to sleep tonight. Inbound the ball, hit a couple of FTs and close it out.

Warren should have been shooting FTs on that long pass to layup play he was fouled on.

If that isn't continuation, then the refs make a lot of bad calls.
