Report Cards-WR weeks 1-4 (1 Viewer)

This will be based on draft position and current points rankings in PPR leagues.

1. Victor Cruz (A): Now he should get an A or A+ right? He is the #1 overall WR right now, he did have a major dud 2 weeks ago in Carolina. 5/118/3TD week 1, 8/118 in week 2 and then a 10/164/TD this past week. As the 10th WR taken on many drafts, he was actually a WR2 for some teams, oh the luxury. Solid value to this point in the season.

2. Demaryius Thomas (A): he has been consistent and worth the late 2nd round investment. Had 2 TDs in both weeks 1 and 4, had 1 light game but a solid PPR performance in the other, so far everything is great for owners.

3. Julio Jones (A-): (3) 100 yd games in a row, no TD the last 2 weeks, non PPR leagues he is not worth as much as here. You gotta remember he went early 2nd and he should be top 3, it's not a surprise but with White out much of the way. will be interesting to see what happens with JJ's stats when he comes back. Is Julio a possible sell high right now? Will he finish top 3? I could see him sliding out of the top 5 for sure. Atlanta is 1-3 now, things are not going well.

4. Antonio Brown (B+): He has really made up for a horrible start to the season, certainly wasn't the same investment as other WRs. In fact when you factor in that he was a 6th round pick and most folks were taken him as a WR2 if they waited on WR or even a WR3 which paired with some of the other WRs you might have had in the top10, you probably are balling right now. He looks to be on the same page with Ben, the fact the Steelers are 0-4, probably only helps as there won't be much to play for other than personal records which Brown looks to break this year. It's also possible after a crummy 1st 2 weeks that some owners might have had Brown on their bench week 3 and that makes those points worth just a smidge less. Brown continues like this and he easily could be an overall A/A+ year when it is all said and done. I thought sell high last week, he made a lot of short receptions this week, I might test the waters in a trade here.

5. Wes Welker (A+): 5th round pick in many leagues, on pace for 24 TD, has not had a terrible week yet so he is consistent to boot. You can go on and on about him but owners must be smiling right now and you wouldn't trade him for all the tea in China right now. He will be a top 10 WR selected next season.

6. Julia Edelman (A): He can't stay here, that's the problem. Eventually Gronk and Amendola find their way back, Vereen later on in the season. I can't get overly excited about him but considering he wasn't even drafted in many leagues, still his numbers are going to tumble and I would leverage this into a trade if possible. 34 catches on 43 targets, he is automatic catching the football right now, Brady loves that.

7. Calvin Johnson (B): He has 2 pretty mediocre games by his standards. He also has had a couple of 25-29 point games and that is awesome. I'm sure he will go on a tear soon. 4 TD in 3 weeks, Reggie bush is starting to pre-occupy the defenses, things are only going to get better for Calvin owners. Detroit 3-1 as well, games are more meaningful, you rely on your studs, good things on the way in Detroit.

8. Pierre Garcon (A): he was a 6th round pick in some of my leagues, he is paying off for owners, been solid every week but he does see a lot of targets for this kind of production. He has 339 yd, 2 TD on 44 targets. Welker who is a couple spots above him has 6 TD on only 36 targets. I like Garcon, he's a terrific WR2 for those who drafted him as such, he is putting up low end WR1 numbers in PPR. He hasn't had a blank type game yet.

9. Brandon Marshall (A): 4th WR taken off the board in many leagues, high to mid 2nd rounder, he came out of the box hot hot the 1st 2 weeks, cooled just a bit the last 2 but still solid and if these are the low games owners have to be thrilled.

10. Dez Bryant (B): #2 overall pick at WR for many, week 1 stunk, week 2 was great, week 3 was middle of the road, week 4 he has another big game. His consistency and that of the Dallas Cowboys is up and down. He has done well when the Cowboys lose, not sure what to make of it. He is doing better on the road than at home right now.

11. A.J. Green ( C ) : Really has only had 1 big game in week 1 and outside of that has been just OK. 6/40, 4/46, 7/51, 1 TD over that 3 week span. He is leaving owners wanting more the last few weeks and owners spent a high 2nd rounder on him.

12. Anquan Bolden (B): He was amazing from many owners' bench week 1. A 9th-10th round pick, he blanked week 2, modest week 3, then another strong performance this past week. He is a solid WR2 to wheel out most weeks. He can get you 20 or sometimes 5 but many WRs are like that.

The top 12 is pretty easy to roll thru, many are going to get an A in that tier. What about the next 12?

13. DeSean Jackson (A-): This guy was a 7th round pick and he made owners a lot of bank the first 2 weeks. DeSean has slowed down a lot the last 2 weeks but this offense means that your WR3 who you grabbed late is going to explode about 5-6 times over the season. If you like to score points in chunks and can tolerate a few blanks over the season, Jackson is paying off huge for you still. The last 2 weeks kind of slow though.

14. Andre Johnson (B+): I don't have much beef here. A late 2nd/early 3rd who had (2) 20+ point games, a solid 15 one week and then an 8 which is not good but overall AJ has delivered.

15. Torrey Smith (A): A solid mid 6th round pick that in PPR has kept his owners happy 4 weeks running. 4/92, 7/85, 5/92, solid WR3 PPR scores and then a big hit this past week with 5/166/TD, double digits every week 13-15 for 3 weeks and then a 27, sign me up and I did in several leagues.

16. Reggie Wayne (B+): A couple of light weeks but overall this late 4th/early 5th round pick and later in some leagues has paid off for owners. 2 separate weeks in the 20+ range, he has been a solid WR2 for owners.

17. Jordy Nelson (A): This 4th round pick has been great the 1st weeks, the bye week simply take shim out of the top5 where he was. Owners have to love what they have seen so far.

18. Nate Washington (A-): He was hardly usable the 1st 2 weeks but as soon as Britt was removed Washington has filled the void. Not sure if Fitzpatrick helps or hurts Washington but he is making a great bye week filler for owners who have him and now a solid WR 3 for some owners who perhaps had issues with their early selections.

19. Eric Decker (B): he has been up and down but many owners got him as the last of the Denver WRs, he is still top 20 but he hasn't played over where owners drafted him. Solid but not winning you your league right now.

20. Eddie Royal (C ): 5 TDs the 1st 2 weeks when no one was playing him, now he has cooled off as owners were tempted to start him and probably got burned the last 2 weeks, not good. Yes he scored a lot weeks 1 and 2 but most folks were not playing him out of the box. What is he worth in a trade right now?

21. Larry Fitzgerald (B-): Fighting thru injury, solid week 1 and 4. Wish the numbers were better but things are going to get better in AZ eventually.

22. Randall Cobb (A): Bye week drops him overall but he has produced at a high level weeks 1 and 2, he went pretty high in the draft but he is producing so far.

23. Cecil Shorts (B): Hard to get excited about him with Blackmon coming back.

24. Kenbrell Thompkins (B): Bust candidate the 1st 2 weeks, great buy low for some owners, the last 2 weeks he is producing a lot. Dobson went out hurt last night, Gronk will help him make more plays down the field, Thompkins is starting to pay off for those who snagged him in the 7th/8th round.

Most of these players grade pretty high, how about some disappointments?

Roddy White (F): His injury has really stopped him early on in the season.

Danny Amendola (D): Injury again, did well week 1.

Vincent Jackson (D): Things not looking good in Tampa right now.

Dwayne Bowe (D): Slow start to the season.

Hakeem Nicks (D-): 1 game over 15, the rest pretty much duds.

I think a B for Bryant and an A for Marshall is a little off. Both were early 2nd rounders and Bryant has out produced Marshall so far in all formats. Call them both B+, perhaps. Fun thread and good evaluation of some of the deeper players, though.

But you also have to factor in the consistency. Bryant really hurt owners week 1.

Sure, but that cuts both ways. Dez already has two games better than Marshall's best, and more points overall. While Dez hurt his owners in week 1, he's also helped them more than Marshall helped his in weeks 2, 3, and 4. Kind of splitting hairs between the two.

To me there is a clear difference, you can feel how you want.

Lot of WR's living up to their draft slots... or doing enough to not be a let down.

Josh Gordon is top 24 on ppg basis...

Also, Blackmon will be an interesting one as he returns this week.

Two WR's who slid due to suspensions, could provide major value to teams who grabbed them in the later rounds.

by that rational, Cruz shouldn't be an A since he put up a worse stinker than Dez in Week 3.

The real question is who are the contenders / pretenders for ROS?

WR1 -

Contenders - Demaryius, Calvin, Dez

Pretenders - Cruz, AJG, Julio

WR6-12 -

Contenders - Welker, Marshall, Cobb, Antonio Brown, DJax, Jordy

Pretenders - Edelman, Garcon, Boldin, Fitzgerald, Wayne

JMHO

He was my WR3 after Marshall and Demaryius. I also have Wallace, Gordon and Blackmon and we can start 4 WR's. Giants are scaring me though, I'd like to move him to get a RB but no one is biting so far to make it worth my while.
