It seemed like every year right before traininig camp, you'd hear a story that he was ~300 pounds and out of shape; then he'd show up to camp looking just like he did in college. I'm not saying he is a gym rat or anything, but the media always seemed to make him out to be Grimmace in the offseason. As far as the attitude; yeah he made some stupid comments about not being the cause of the Raiders problems, but I never read anything that indicated he was a bad teamate or person. There are a lot of players out there that aren't Peyton Manning when it comes to lockeroom and on the field leadership.Raider Nation said:And you base this opinion on what, exactly?LarryAllen said:Fact - His time in Oak was a complete disaster.

You could not be further from reality with this. JR has been at/above or a biscuit away from 290-300 almost every game he's ever played in Oakland. I sit front row in the BlackHole (they do their pre-game warmups and introductions on this side of the field). The guy is FAT, period. He is not in shape (he spends more time and shows more focus fumbling with his IPOD then stretching/working out in pre-game), makes it very apparent he doesn't care about what is going on around him and none of his teammates showed any inkling of giving a #### about him most of last year (other then the receivers that hope he'll throw him the ball). JR not only made stupid comments about not being the cause of the Raiders problems, but that he believes it is everyone else around him that is causing him to fail. The guy has no pride or passion for the profession (I can't call it HIS profession, because he is far from professional). I think that goes to the core of the argument that JR is a bad teammate. His lethargy for improving and understanding the game rubbed off the wrong way on the professionals on both sides of the ball. He became a cancer to the team. The most prevalent attitude he brought to a post game was a coy smile as he drove off in a fancy car and fur coat. He showed that he didn't give a #### about winning, and it rubbed his teammates and fans the wrong way. I will be very happy the day he is officially let go.Should this suprise anyone? When they showed his family on draft day it looked like a first episode of the biggest loser. I think he was the runt of the litter. It's a double win for Oakland. Off the books, and the training table budget gets some relief.I am sorry, but any QB that has his ### jiggle when he is dropping back, you're a fatass

Since Ryan was getting into it with reporters and fans couldn't we surmise that he was just cracking under the pressure? And therefore he must have cared at least a little about his performance but just didn't have what it took to succeed? Unlike (apparently) Russell who comes across like someone who doesn't care at all.Maurile Tremblay said:Leaf by a mile. Not only was Russell a much better QB than Leaf (check their stats), but Russell, as far as I know, never ditched rehab to play golf; never lied to the coaching staff about offseason workouts (Leaf: "I've hired my own QB coach"; the QB coach: "I haven't heard from Ryan in years."); and never shouted at reporters, spit on fans, or got into fistfights at bars.jwinston2 said:Bigger Bust: J. Report: JaMarcus Russell balloons to 300 lbs. JaMarcus Russell has beefed up to 300 pounds, a league source tells Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post.Russell was already overweight at 290, so he's sliding in the wrong direction. We'd say his imminent release might motivate the former No. 1 overall pick to get in shape, but history has proven that won't be the case. The "move JaMarcus to right tackle" jokes are coming fast and furious now. If Russell puts on about 20 more lbs., he could play five-technique end in Oakland's new 3-4 sets. With a few changes, it's also a variation on a true story told by Richard Feynman regarding the committee he sat on to select math textbooks for public schools. The members of the committee were supposed to read all the submitted books and make recommendations. One of the books had just a cover with all blank pages in between.Feynman was the only one on the committee who noticed. The others had given it grades in various categories just like they had graded the rest of the books. Which means they probably didn't read the other ones, either.(It wasn't blank to fool anyone on purpose. The publisher was late with the content, and sent just the cover initially -- to be followed by the content when it was ready. Somebody forgot to tell the committee.)It's basically a variation on the Randall Cunningham film story. No he isn't.Jason Campbell is a very good QB
He is gone...no way they give this lard ### another penny. The sooner they cut this piece of trash, the better off they are. IF they give this clown an additional 5+ million this week, they are bigger idiots than he is.

Surely, You're joking! Anyways, yeah I've heard the Randall version here in Philly of course, but it was with actual game film and a piece of paper. This is very unfair and bad posting. Think back to 2007....at the time, Jamarcus Russel had in the word's of Mayock, "The best pro day I've ever seen". All the analysts said he was consensus #1 pick. There were a few how argued that it should be Calvin Johnson. Please tell me again about Mr Davis faculties...
Hindsight is always 20/20.
Wow, I didn't realize how much JaMarcus sucked until now.GregR said:An ESPN article put in context how much Jamarcus Russell will have been paid per his production, assuming he's cut and receives the final guaranteed $3m he's owed. He'll have made:$5.6 million per win$2.2 million per touchdown.$110,000 per pass completion. For grins and to put that in context, I went to see how much Peyton would have made in his career if paid the same rate for any of those performance measures. If he had been, Peyton would have made off his regular season performance:$655 million if paid for wins.$805 million if paid for TD passes.$465 million if paid for pass completions.

The only logical conclusion that can be drawn is that Jamarcus is going for his $40th million. He walks away now and he ends up with $39M. I bet he already blew through his first $36M. Not a bad deal to be a POS on the bench for a cool million. Gawd, I hate to have that sack of #### hanging around the sidelines. He reminds the whole world what a screwed up organization the Raiders are. Why is Al Davis even offering a pay cut? He's dead on the open market. Any money thrown at Jamarcus is like giving money to a bum on the corner holding an "out of work, need beer money" sign holder. that POS is not worth the cost of the paper to process his release.Ha, now ESPN is saying that he isn't going to get cut and will be at mini-camp.
Edit: I should say Adam Schefter is reporting that rather than all of ESPN.

I'm pretty sure they were only talking about on-field performance and who cares about 3 more measly wins? Russell is just as bad as Leaf ever was... and probably lazier with less intensity. Look at the criteria he mentioned. Jamarcus had a higher draft slot, demanded a higher salary, and was a larger detriment to a broader fanbase.Leaf only started games for the Chargers in '98 and '00. Two short years later they are starting Brees and are on the way to recovery. We have no idea how long it may take for the Raiders to recover from Russell, but it hasn't looked good so far.Besides, other than INTs, those numbers you posted don't look all that different.Russell can't compare to Ryan Leaf. Yeah, Leaf screamed at that reporter because he cares about football. Sure. This is a silly thing to argue about, btw. A lot. Seriously, in 10 years if he keeps a low profile, his name won't be mentioned except in extremely small "wall of shame who's the worst bust of all time?" circles. And he'll be laughing his retired butt off.Give me 30MM and I'm willing to take a fair amount of flak from people I don't even know, who probably wouldn't recognize me on the street in a couple of years. That sort of dough can buy a guy a lot of therapyHow many people would accept $30mm+ in exchange for having fingers pointed & people laughing at you the final 50-60 years of your life? I just found out that Akili Smith now has a respectable job as an assistant at Cal. (Tedford coached him at Oregon).
