Footballguy
Can you guys please give me your opinion on the following trade? Is it too one sided?

RG3 for Calvin Johnson

We have pretty heavily customized scoring in our league. Here is a link to our league to check our scoring so far: http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/freeagency?leagueId=425017&seasonId=2012#&seasonId=2012&avail=-1

As you can see, RG3 leads the league in scoring with 454.1 points and Calvin Johnson is 25th in the league with 326.2 points. Calvin Johnson has 40% fewer points than RG3. The team that is trading RG3 away does not have another QB on their roster, and we are in a 12 team league.

Thanks for the help.

The point totals I gave above were before last weeks scoring was added to each of their totals. RG3 now has 484.2 points for the year, and Calvin Johnson now has 352.7. RG3 now has 37% more points than Calvin Johnson, not 40%.

Using total points as a way to compare a trade is useless. Just because Ryan Fitzpatrick has scored more points than Percy Harvin doesn't mean that Fitz is the better player.

The trade is fine.

You are about to get torn apart my the board for this Q.

Seriously, performance to date is one of many factors that go into trade considerations, and an artificial one considering those are sunk points. Tell us how you know whether RGIII or CJ adds more value to each team from here on out? Can't do it.

I am not sure I have every read one of these 'unfair trade' posts in which the trade was actually unfair. I also don't think I've ever read a thread where anyone could reasonably conclude that commishes should go around policing what they personally think is "fair".

Must have been 50-100 of them.

Ever.

What if I traded Roberts for Calvin, would that be ok?

Who is Roberts? By the way, our league has voting to veto trades. The commissioner does not make the call.
