Rice or McCoy at #2 (1 Viewer)

Have the #2 pick in my main league this year, the guy picking #1 is a big Foster fan, so fairly certain he comes off the board first. Anyone else wrestling with this? Can't really go wrong either way, I suppose, but stumped on who to take assuming both make it to the regular season healthy. (I already have Stafford as a keeper, so Rodgers isn't an option here). McCoy's on a more explosive offense, got a fat contract extension which could be good or bad, lost the best guy on the OL, probably won't come close to 20 TDs again, and has Vick both opening things up for him as well as taking a few scores from him. Rice is the main guy on a hard-running team and catches a whopping amount of passes, but has a huge amount of touches the last couple of years, is haggling on a new deal, and has the erratic Flacco at QB and the occasionally bizarre playcalling of Cam Cameron to deal with.

So who do you like?

I don't see either being a bust so you can't really go wrong. That said I think I'd take Rice. He seems like the safer option, more likely to get 1200+ rushing with 55+ receptions. TDs fluctuate a lot from year to year, but if he's getting the goal line work then there is no reason to expect fewer than 10 TDs from Rice. I'll take 2000 total yards and 10+ TDs with the #2 pick.

Tough choice. Either way you can't go wrong. But if it was me I would go Rice just because I don't trust the eagles. Ray has been solid for a couple years now. Earlier on eagles said he was gonna be used less then they said his workload was going to be the same.

I'd draft Rodgers, then Calvin, but that's not the question.... I'd take Rice and not think twice about it, but I certainly understand others liking McCoy better.

Rice is the Ravens offense.

ETA: I don't worry nearly as much about a RB's "touches" if a considerable amount of those "touches" are in the passing game. Not the same type of punishment as running the ball.

If you're drafting before training camp starts, I would definitely go with McCoy, there's too much uncertainty about Rice's contract.

Reid said they want to reduce McCoys touches this year. I dont really believe him but it would make me nervous enough to take Rice.

Totally agree with this. The two are extremely close simply based on their play on the field. Rice's contract and the possibility of him missing much of training camp holding out is a small unknown that would be the tie-breaker for me.

McCoy cause he has worse backups by far, less chance of sharing some carries.
 Philly is deep in RBs now.
Who do they have?A 7th round draft pick who was a bust in college, an undrafted free agent and Dion Lewis?
Lewis is a solid backup. Brown may not have produced in college, but talent was NEVER the issue. Polk was predicted to go as early as the second round...his fall to undrafted is one of the biggest head-scratchers in draft day history. There may be better backups than Lewis, but few teams have players in the third/fourth slots with as much potential as those two.

So to recap...The Eagles have a average, undersized backup. They have a talented under achiever who hasn't played in almost 3 years. They have a talented player who can't stay healthy already having a dislocated shoulder, a torn labrum and knee surgery. I'd take Bernard Pierce (who the Ravens drafted this year), over all three of those guys.

Brown is very talent. I would not be surprised if he ended up being the 3rd string back if not beating out Lewis for 2nd string. With that said the Eagles RB depth is a question mark. If Shady goes down they are going to have a problem.

I say go Calvin Johnson at #2 and smile.
Believe me, seriously considered it since I already own Stafford, but don't think I can pass up a shot at getting one of the handful of near-every down backs. Would grab him like a shoplifter if I was at 5 or 6.

Really? I don't see Pierce as being appreciably any better than Lewis, and Allen will never make a serious mark. Brown and Polk have more natural talent than any of them (the backups). Question marks aside....they have MUCH higher upside than Allen.I'm not arguing with putting Rice ahead of McCoy or vice versa....nothing wrong with either...I'm arguing putting Rice ahead based on their backups.

He's better than Lewis. I see Brown is still living off the hype from his high school days. Polk will be in IR by week 3 of the pre-season.

Dion Lewis is underrated if people think he's no better than a rookie who will have to learn to pass protect and is more straight line runner then wiggle

Dion Lewis can't pass protect. I'd rather have a rookie that can learn to do it then a vet that physically isn't able to.EDIT: And Emmitt Smith made a pretty good career out of being a straight line runner.
