Richard Marshall? (1 Viewer)

UnderRated

Footballguy
I've had Marshall for a couple years now and was so happy that he was now finally starting but...

His tackle numbers haven't been there yet, do you guys think that'll change??? I'm thinking about going with Tyvon Branch instead.

Richard Marshall vs. The Cowboys or Tyvon Branch vs. The Broncos???

Anybody???

I have both in my league and have been playing Branch the past two weeks. If I need some big points and received them in the scoring of the league I would go Marshall. My league more tackle heavy.

teams are getting the jump on the Panthers and not having to pass as much, maybe that's a factor? Panthers were pretty good last year and had leads, so Marshall had more tackle opps.

His tackle numbers were better the years before. 2008 CAR 16 68 7

2006 CAR 16 70 13 Team record 7-9

2007 CAR 16 79 10 Team record 8-8

I think part of it is just how his role has changed.

he used to play nickel, and was maybe covering slot guys, while he now starts and maybe covers the second wr.

so, say he's on jenkins, who catches 3 balls on 4 targets --- how much opportunity is there?

I'm hoping romo at least throws the ball a lot, and maybe marshall nabs a pick.

He got hurt week 1.

He was still hurt week 2.

Apparently he practiced without restrictions this week and is a 100% go.

I'm starting him with confidence.

I think part of the problem is the Panthers are just terrible against the run so most teams aren't throwing much against them.

Beason and T.Davis are putting up huge numbers every week but the tackles in the secondary are all pretty low.

so hard to put a guy like him on the bench with his ability but that's exactly where he will be, at least for me starting wk7..

This guy is a MAJOR bust. I've held on to him for years now, but today was the last straw. If a corner can't make tackles against New Orleans who can they make them against?

yeah - me too.week after week i held him in the lineup, but not any moreashame for the lost points

Marshall has been a huge let down me this year as well.

I'm thinking maybe being outside all the time now, instead of covering the slot and being closer to all the action, has been the reason for the low tackle numbers. Just an idea, but he needs to see the bench until he shows he can produce in this role.

Thinks looked extremely promising going into the season, but I agree, it's time to either bench him or cut him if you don't have the space.

I'd still keep an eye on him though, in case things start to workout better for him statistically speaking. He certainly has the talent to be an IDP stud CB.

Here's what I'm going to do. Pickup Jairus Byrd to replace him in the short term. Bench Marshall and see how he does with Thomas Davis out for the long term.

Am I wrong to assume that without Davis, there can only be more opportunity for the secondary to rack up the tackles?

Where have all the Richard Marshall chest pumpers gone?

There were a number of highly respected posters behind this guy in the off season with very eloquent arguments, I'd be interested in their analysis of the situation. This is not about crow but about learning.

7 tackles tonight. He has done better that last 2 games, but doesn't look that good on the field.

I have an idea htat Marshall benefit from NOT having Thomas Howard on the field. More tackles for Marshall who likes to stick his nose in..

Of course this is just a hunch since I don't know if Marshall and Howard played on the same side..

Maybe some smart guy (Jene ?) could get his take on if I might be right or If I'm just plain wrong.

Of course he had 7 tackles tonight, he was on my bench.
2 were on special teams and I get those in one league but not another. Still 5-1 is pretty good. Perhaps he is benefitting by poor LB play but I would think the safeties would benefit not him.
