What are his projections should he get the starting nod at MLB in place of Morrison?

(KFFL) CBSSports.com reports Oakland Raiders LB Ricky Brown has a better opportunity to emerge as the team's starting middle linebacker after LB Kirk Morrison (elbow) dislocated his left elbow in the team's last preseason game. However, head coach Tom Cable said that Morrison was ahead of Brown in the competition to start at the position before suffering the injury.

kind of depends on how long morrison is out, right?

Anyone see his game vs. New Orleans on Saturday? He had a nice line (9 tackles, 1 assist) and led the team, but then New Orleans held the ball for 39 minutes.

Any insights?

And this:

LINEBACKERS: C -

This unit struggled in space all day. Ricky Brown had a couple of stops that were note-worthy. But overall, Thomas Howard and Sam Williams were not effective. Jon Alston continues to cruise on easy street, not making any stellar plays and looking more and more like a back-up or one-dimensional special teamer. Brown and Howard are one of the few players on this side of the ball that play with fire.

:goodposting: at the grammar!

I read Morrison will be able to play week one, and Raiders fan hearing if that means he will start? And will it be at MLB?

Depends on your roster space and who you could get instead, I suppose. Also, are you weak at lb, or pretty well set? I'm not going to bother drafting him now, personally, but I'll keep an eye out. But, if I thought I was struggling at lb then it might be worth a shot (depending on who the other free agents were).

Does Morrison have the job when he gets back? Has that been decided?

Anything can happen in Oakland, but it seems that Morrison will start at MLB week 1.

There's nothing definitive that I have heard. But the LB that replaced Brown at SLB was awful, so that may keep Brown on the outside.

Per CBSSPORTS.com: Ricky Brown will start at strong-side linebacker in the season opener against San Diego, coach Tom Cable said. He beat out returning starter Jon Alston for the job. Cable said Brown's "consistency" throughout camp gave him the edge. He'll start alongside MLB Kirk Morrison and weak-side linebacker Thomas Howard.

He's a LB6 or so as a SLB like he was last year. Good to have as depth and for future potential, but God help you if you have to start him regularly (like I did last year  )
