At this point Shady, slow boring progress is very very good.So I only spent a few hours there today because I was alone and as much as I love my Riley it's boring talking to a sleepy three week old. However, I fed her and she did eat 25ml by mouth. The ability is there imo. She just tires out easily. The nurse seemed confident she'd get it eventually but all nurses say different things.
Oh I'm not complaining at all. Very happy with the way things are going so farAt this point Shady, slow boring progress is very very good.
Maybe read the FFA to her, start with Tim's threadKeep talking, though. (Or read some books to her?) Trust in the power of that ...let her 'hear' your love for her. I suspect those lonely hours between the two of you will be powerful memories to hold close. And - Circle of Life - maybe she will return the favor many, many years from now.
Not trying to put her in a coma againMaybe read the FFA to her, start with Tim's thread
A great support system (especially that gofundme), Riley's progress, and a great family/friends network have been key. Definitely not out of the woods yet but I'm very hopeful. Ran for the first time in three weeks today (it was a disaster) but I did it.
The transition from tears to laughter has been remarkable and inspiring.
Not out of the woods yet, but the clearing is just around the bend. So happy for you and yours, Shady.
I'll be a daddy in the not too distant future and I'm sure I'll look back on this thread as an example of how to handle adversity when the inevitable bumps in the road arise. Hopefully they're not as massive as yours but I hope to handle them with similar strength and aplomb.
Good job, daddy
And music, always have music playingKeep talking, though. (Or read some books to her?) Trust in the power of that ...let her 'hear' your love for her. I think that violates the Geneva Conventions.Maybe read the FFA to her, start with Tim's thread
Have you read Mr. Ishida's Bookstore?Almost feel bad for Timmy...almost.
Of courseWe haven't seen a recent picture, any charce you can post one, Shady?
keep fighting, baby girl! Beautiful, shady.
keep fighting, baby girl! Beautiful, shady. Her hair shocked us when she was born. Our son was blond and bald. Yes both me and my wife are 100% ItalianI think you should set aside some money for hair products. Lordy day, that girl is gonna have a full head of it. You Italian, shady?
Yes she coos. Way too young to babble. Doesn't cry but several times looks like she wants to. I think it's the medicine.Sorry if this has been asked/addressed, but is she trying to communicate through babbling, grunting, cooing, etc?
Great news.Yes she coos. Way too young to babble. Doesn't cry but several times looks like she wants to. I think it's the medicine.

Easily one of the best posts in this thread. Not trying to put her in a coma again
That's quite a stink eye she's got! Was this the look she gave you when you mentioned reading Tim's thread to her?
I think its more a look of "Get this ####### straw out of my nose!"That's quite a stink eye she's got! Was this the look she gave you when you mentioned reading Tim's thread to her?
That was my thought. And that child has a ton of hair. Best be ready to braid and otherwise style it.That's quite a stink eye she's got! Was this the look she gave you when you mentioned reading Tim's thread to her?
This picture. Swoon.

I think you've earned a burger and beer! Also, doctor said we are open to come for all her feedings but it's tough because we live half hour away and she eats every 3 hours. My wife is still sick so I fed her at 12 and now I'm at a German bar by myself eating a burger and drinking beer so I can give her a 3pm feeding. Not complaining about that though lol

Glad to see you're taking care of yourself and your wife.
